I converted an Arcade1up into a “House Of The Dead” cab a couple years ago with the Wii and put the sensor bar on top and use a pistol only, no Numchuck needed and don’t have any issues as long as I stand centered. Otherwise it reloads unintentionally. I did buy a new USB sensor bar when I set it up because I didn’t now how old the other one was… bought in a pawn shop. I just played through HOD 3 a couple nights ago in about an hour and still enjoy it alot!
@@RetiredRetro1 see i have a pop up arcade and I add house. Of the dead on Wii to it but the aim goes all over the place when I set it up inside and underneath the gazebo at events I tried using the nunchuck and it doesn't work any tips
@wizardwaffle75 hi I'm only beginning to get into lightgun games, but the wii motion plus or the device to add on to the first version, increases the infrared signal. also a generic $5-$10 bar can be inferior. I think the Mayfair dolphin bar is the standard for $29.99 ? hope this helps
I designed and manufactured this gun for SEGA in 2008... A year later we came back with the wii "overshotgun" and another year later with the "wii MP5" rifle that was a commercial fail.
I've had nothing but very good experiences with HotD 1+2 collection on Wii! Had no problems setting up and calibrating the wiimote, but I did use the Nyko Perfect Shot gun shell and only used the Wiimote, no nunchuck attachment. To me, it was close enough to feel like a real lightgun! Since then, I've used the Mayflash Dolphin Bar to connect my Wiimote to my PC and I've had an excellent time playing arcade shooters like Area 51 and Virtua Cop on MAME and the Nebula Model 2 Emu respectively. The wiimote doesn't work out of the box for the Model 2 emulator, but you can find plenty of guides online. I'm amazed that the Wiimote feels so good and responds so well with Lightgun games, and even Gun4IR uses a IR pointer tracking set up similar to the Wii, except with a higher and faster polling refresh rate and using 4 IR sensors (one on each side of the monitor/TV) for extreme accuracy instead of the 2 IR lights the Wiimote uses. It just shows how ahead of it's time the Wiimote was, and is such a perfect solution and lightgun substitute for modern TV displays.
All of Sega's shooting games on the Wii are very well designed. Sega was the only one to actually put a functional calibration tool in the menu and just as important, an option to turn off the cursor. You have to calibrate the gun from a certain spot in the room and stay in that spot while you play the game. The sensor bar is calibrating based on the location of the Wii remote. If you move back, forward, left or right it will no longer be properly calibrated because you've already told the system that you are shooting from a different location. This works very well in HOTD 2&3, Overkill and Ghost Squad. There is a maximum screen size though. I believe over 50" it starts to become unworkable. I've played all of these on a 50" screen and they've worked perfectly as long as I stay in the spot I calibrated the gun from.
Hi there, 👋 I hope you can take the time to help me. I'm really trying hard to get my Wii to play house of the dead. My tv is 65inch. I'm having all sorts of trouble. My remote doesn't even line up with the middle of the screen on any game , I have no hope at all even calibrating for house of the dead on my tv. I have owned it in the past and it all worked fine.
@@Barney_rubble983 it will never be perfect, but the first thing you want to do is change your aspect ratio to 4:3 in the Wii settings. You want the screen to be as close to a square shape as possible. With a 65 inch TV calibration problems are very noticeable on 16:9 ratio as the edges of the screen are very far from the center. If you're playing to get head shots and pick up all of the bonuses, I recommend keeping the crosshair on. If not, turn it off and it's good enough to play, just not accurate enough to master.
I had same issue with mine. I just unplugged everything and plugged back in and used a different wii remote and re synced and re adjusted my sensor. Started working fine.
I am not into gun games except House Of The Dead. I have the Wii game but I think I don't have the gun I use another one. I haven't played it in years. It's good to see you covering more than cheap Chinese systems. Good review and cool video Wicked!👍
did you check the Wii settings? there is a setting to adjust the sensor bar behaviour for the sensor bar being above the TV or below the TV. there also is sensitivity settings in the Wii as well.
The control problems you had are weird. I have no problems with mine. I am playing on my 60" LCD Samsung and I sit about 4 metres away from the screen with the sensor bar on top of my TV. Maybe you were too close to the monitor?
Pretty rad looking Zapper, and what an awesome bundle box I am very jealous! And strapping up the nunchuck to the zapper was a rite of passage playing HOTD back in the day, good memories.
Your bar is too down, you should put It on the monitor in order to cover more range, i've got this Game in the Wii as I told you and It works perfectly
Hey one thing I thought of with your HOTD 3 experience, did you recheck that the Wii is set to have the sensor bar on the bottom of the TV? Maybe it's flipped to be on top? 🤷

Go into your wii settings and turn up the sensitivity then go to options on house of the dead 3 or two and turn off your cursor and calibrate your gun if you do this it has a quick and fast arcade play style and makes it so much more fun
I think the wii mote is too sensitive for the light gun type play, which is why is not the best experience. Now the best way to play the Wii on modern TVs is by using HDMI converter along with a mClassic (set on green), I try component with a very good scaler, while it looks very very good, something was still off, HDMI along with mClassic is the best experience.

I used to have the House of Dead 3 that after you beat the game you unlock 1 and 2 for the first XBox system. The Xbox was very Revolutionary at the time and this was the only system that could handle HOD 3 for the graphics and was a perfect port. The PS2 and The Game Cube could not compete. PS2 has Time Crisis 2 and 3. The best part of this is the game was sold along with one Madcatz gun so you had to buy another one if you want two player game. Madcatz is known for selling cheap bad game controllers but since Madcatz worked with Sega and Microsoft to make it exclusive the gun was excellent. Unfortunately, I was very unhappy that Microsoft would not come out with more light gun games. This was the only light gun on the XBOX for such a powerful video game system. Pros to HOD 3: Graphics are amazing for the Xbox now Wii and gameplay is fun. Cons to HOD 3: only use shotgun? Terrible idea and huge letdown. The only series that limited you with a choice to choose more guns. Big let down!
Light gun game's went Mickey Mouse on console when flat screen tv's came in. Original Xbox, ps1, ps2, dreamcast on a crt tv is best. House of the Dead is also on dreamcast 👍
House of the Dead 3 and 4 are amazing on the PS3. They look great in HD. 4 especially (exclusive to the PS3) when used with the Move controllers and the Sharpshooter attachment. The Sharpshooter has a reload mechanic (shotgun) so to reload you don't shoot off screen, you do a shotgun reload. Very immersive and amazing experience! Wish they made more light gun games on PS3 that supported this mechanic, so cool!

I think you might be too close to the screen. Also the wii bar should be on top of the screen. And turning off the crosshair might help you aim faster

When playing it recommends you to sit 8 - 10 feet from the screen / sensor bar.
House of Dead Overkill I believe is great and you should try it!

Oh and don't move from the spot you calibrate from. If you move your calibration will be off. If you calibrated while seated, stay seated, etc.

I have this exact game on the Wii and mine works perfect. Works as great as a light gun I'm sorry you had trouble with yours.
The gun attachment is more of a pain than it's worth. It's easier to just use the wiimote as normal
