Thanks for the information I just purchased my very first Christmas Cactus. So glad I found your channel. Thanks for letting me know that the flowers will fall off because of the new home. Glad I won't think I did something wrong, Blessings to you
Great video thanks! I live in western Pennsylvania. I just today brought my Thanksgiving Cactus inside because the nights are going down to 40°F. I've had it almost a year now. It bloomed white last year. Anyhow, I put it in the cooler dark basement this evening and I already see very little white circles forming on the tips -- naturally -- just from the cooler temps and less natural light outside. My basement is unheated right now and unlit. I have it in the only window which is south facing. No watering in October. Thanks again for all the information. God bless.
Glad the video was helpful! They set buds quickly after they're brought inside from the cooler temps. I'm sure it will bloom profusely since it's already setting buds. Happy growing! :)
On a previous video you advised to water using orchid fertiliser. I have used this intermittently to great results. My plants look better and had a bumper flowering season. Thanks for your tips Amy. 🇦🇺
Each year I review your instructions. Thank you. During Spring,Summer I attempt to propagate with poor success. I will hold hope for good flowering this year.
I don’t put a box over my Thanksgiving cactus but I put it in an unused bedroom where it gets natural light and darkness as the season changes to fall. Since we start having less light about the end of August it seem to work. It has bloomed every year. This year it was a bit neglected because of my having so many other plants and day to day chores to attend to. I hope it will not hold that against us.
Hi Amy . Thanks for the great tips your Thanksgiving and Christmas cactus always look beautiful. Take care and may the Lord keep you in His tender care. Shalom❤️🙏🏻✝️😇
Hi Amy 💚! I moved my giant thanksgiving/ and Christmas cactus into the back bedroom on September 2nd. It is cooler and darker there at night and after12/14 hrs of darkness,i open the blinds. It's a northwest window area. I can water lightly there andam hoping it produces more flowers this way. We've had 100 plus degree weather her for close to 2 months and its always sunny where i usually keep these beauties. If i want, can i move them back in October before the blooms come so i can prevent loosing buds,or wait until the end of October?. I will mist only in October. I love looking at these plants and its hard not seeing them all day!💚👎🥰. Thank you; you're the best!!!
I have a Thanksgiving cactus that never has bloomed (I did move to another home, and in the old house it did bloomed). I'm in Florida and now the days are shorter. For two years she has been in the same spot. I placed it on the front porch where she gets some sunlight in the morning. At night is pitched black, for I live in the suburbs of Florida. I don't evern turn on the port light at night. I'm so dissapointed. I just bought one at Aldi's that came with some white blooms, not yet open. I placed it on the same porch so fingers crossed. Gee I hope my Christmas Cactus blooms don't drop. My husband brought one home last night with the groceries. It's absolutely beautiful! I was joking with him about getting me a cactus instead because I'm horrible at keeping plants alive. I can care for birds and keep them alive for years and year, but plants, I have no luck with at all. I want to keep this one around for years to come.
Ya so the Christmas Cactus my husband brought home already had a lot of blooms on it. They aren't open yet but there's several beautiful pink blooms on it. I just hope they don't fall because of the ride home and such a big move for them.
Anyway Thank You for the tips.. God Bless You & Yours this Holiday Season and Always! 💗🌵🌺🌵💖🌵🌷
I'm wishing you lots of success with your cactus! Thanks so much for your comment...I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season! Amy
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
So when watering remove the move then cover
putting my catus in closet of night then low light in bedroom no buds yet, most of Sept and October nothing
Hi Patricia! Try a brighter location during the day, not low light. I turned the grow light back on Big Red and it budded. Hope yours buds soon! 😇🌺
I don’t have to move mine or put in the dark to get mine to bloom they just do. Have a peaceful day
Thank you 👏
They’ll bloom sitting on a window sill on the east coast
I mentioned a while ago that I ordered an orange holiday cactus and it was a failure. First plant and second one sent rootless and dead. I tried water propagation and the sections rotted. Are the holiday cactus not available this year? Can't find it anywhere locally, Celina Texas? How about your area?;I know that I won't be getting any thru mail!!👎
Hi Ellen, try looking at garden centers closer to Thanksgiving. It might be a little early to find them right now. 😇
So remove box water then recover
Can't get mine to bloom
