Shadow candles disable the town system preventing enemies from spawning. I bet the way chaos elemental spawns are prevented uses a similar system and unintentionally gets disabled.

chaos elementals cant spawn if an npc is housed nearby but if i put a shadow candle down does it cancel that out?

i think you can just hook to the roof and it will count as moving

Doesn't the hook eventually detach from the block causing you to fall?

@@ProjectAudreyno I just did this about a week ago and it does definitely work. There may be some mechanic that causes certain hooks to detach tho.

Shadow candles are still useful if you hook a teleporter up inside your base.

They only spawn on blocks of Pearlstone, Pearlsand or Pink Ice, so make sure you have those placed down. They also won't spawn if your character is in front a player-placed background wall.

Inferno potion/titanium armor set bonus
or even better use minions/sentries

They spawn while jumping or walking. Its really easy to understand…
