Erythropoiesis (RBC Production)

In this video, I will provide an overview on the process of erythropoiesis, the location in which this process starts (red bone marrow), and a few of the cells formed throughout this process (proerythroblast, reticulocyte, erythrocyte). I review some of the important functions of erythrocytes/RBCs including the percentages of oxygen and carbon dioxide transported by this cells. At the end, I will briefly review how the reticulocyte count is used to whether diagnose a disorder or determine the success of a treatment plan.
