Great content! This has been my favorite roleplaying game system for a while. The narrative dice can be an extremely effective tool to build engagement and excitement at the table.

It really is a great system. Worthy of a short campaign by all to get a little taster.

Liked, subscribed, always glad to see someone putting out pro-FFG-SWRPG content. I love the hell out of the system, and fully agree with your observations.

About four years ago, my brother bought our older brother the Force and Destiny book for his birthday. We never got around to playing it before 80% of our family moved out of state (COVID wasn't really a factor because we were meeting once a week anyways).

That's a shame. I hope you can get together and play. There are online options like I mentioned. Either ways, hope whatever you folks do together you have fun and get to catch up.

The force is probably the only part i don't like, unless your playing force and destiny, we primarily play Edge of the Empire, without force sensitive. Also unless you really want to have a narrative effect for every failure symbol, that your succes symbols cancel out, the only symbols you need to "narrate" is advantage or threat symbols. unless you do fail the test that is. rolling 5 failure and 6 success would be GM overload to have a narrative explaination for every "success, but its there if you want to. To keep you GM sanity, first check if your player have any success left after removing failure and leave it at success of failure. Then narrate the outcome (failure or success) and then the advantage or threat symbols. With that out of the way, excellent video! =)

Glad you enjoyed it. I wish more folks gave this game a go.
And I completely get you that every failure doesn't have to be played out, but it gives the perfect opportunity to collaborate and throw ideas in to the mix if you feel like it makes more narrative sense.

@@DM-MilkMan But i did enjoy your example, of the stealth check. If a GM choose to go with that type of narration to get a more imersive experience i say go with it.
For me, i would use it very sparingly for some key or suspenseful moments. My current group, who are all new to the FFG Star Wars RPG, are having a hard time coming up with ideas for advantage as it is. But they are getting better session by session.
i have a feeling that more and more players are warming up to the system though. i see more and more channels on youtube, and people i talk to want to try it. From the feedback i have gotten, people have said the whole "dice system" is what have kept them from it, being used to rolling a single D20 in other systems, most of them have been put off by the symbols and number of dice.
But once they have tried it and understood what it brings or adds to a RPG game, most of them have embraced it.
I know of some GM who still insist that the GM rolls the challenge dice. I never do, i let the PCs roll all the dice so that they know what they are up against, and how hard the check will be. Seeing the dice and the type of dice they have to overcome is way better compared to me in DnD saying roll a perception, and then saying "you dont see anything of note" becouse you did not overcome my imagined difficulty of 10. Compared to SW it is a very lackluster system, and most of my players enjoy even the failed tests now, seeing that every failure can still have a positive outcome, and every success can have a negative outcome.
And lastly, to any potential new player, use the destiny points often, don't have the mindset of "i don't want to use them, becouse the GM can screw us with the dark side points". Not using them only have one real effect, you are crippling your self. And GM, use them, but don't be a "that guy" who use them to prove a point or make the check impossible to succeed. If a check have 1 or 2 challenge dice in the pool, and a player use a light side to upgrade his ability dice to a proficiency dice, don't add another challeng dice via a dark side just becouse...
So with all that said, yeah i really hope that more players will get into the game becouse its amazing, especially EoTE that for me is the ultimate SW sandbox, and so that EDGE can start printing some new content, and reprint the old material =)

I actually stumbled across one while I was in my local game shop this morning. So I would check yours first and if not, do check out the Edge publishing prints.
It's a great system and hope you enjoy it.
