Treated Human Waste as Fertilizer? | SoCal Connected | KCET

  • Sewage sludge accumulated by more than four million residents in Los Angeles is extracted and treated at the Hyperion Treatment Plant, the city's largest and oldest wastewater treatment facility. There, human waste is processed and treated over the span of two weeks. In part, it entails screening for foreign objects, separating liquids from solids, and killing off pathogens at a specific temperature.
The goal: create biosolids for a variety of purposes, including fertilizer that's deemed safe under regulations from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. And approximately 75 percent of those biosolids -- that's 500 tons a day! -- are loaded on trucks headed to Kern County.
But not everyone is on board. In 2006, voters in Kern County passed a ballot measure intended to ban the process of depositing L.A.'s biosolids at the city of L.A.'s Green Acres Farm. But eight years later, the dumping debate still continues.

I don't think there's too much "metals" or other chemicals in the waste solids. That is digested food solids, such as indigestible cellulose. Note that this expert fellow at 7:30 in the video saying that you cannot use any manure to fertilize. What the reason for that is was not explained. But there is not any more bad chemicals in that cooked poop than anywhere else. And the "pharmaceuticals" are unstable molecules that will break down in the soil if the cooking process did not decompose them already. It might have been better to just cook the poop solids to like 150 degrees, kill everything, and then just add in "good" bacteria.

There are these educated people who call themselves SOIL SCIENTISTS. They study soil, the environment and its constituents and how it effects plants growth, from seed to fully grown and beyond. They study food crops to ensure adequate nutrients are present. They are really cool scientists.

When they say human waste they're definitely not telling you about the toxic chemicals and heavy metals from industry that they're putting on to the soil if it's a normal Municipal Water Treatment Facility. Municipal Water sanitation treatment facilities were compromised In Design to reduce the cost to Industry so that they didn't have to treat their heavy metals fully. The net result of a compromise like that is neither human fecal waste or Industrial Waste can be fully dealt with in an ecological economical manner.

The end product can also be turned into Charcoal that's synthesised to emit a 75 percent less carbon into the atmosphere. Supplied to Coal Plants which could have a 60 percent impact on relying on local or international Minining and reducing the environmental impact globally. If every country can follow this American model of eradicating human waste, would be a revolutionary breakthrough for keeping land and sea 🌊 clean.

Los Angeles processes 640,000,000 Gallons of raw waste every 24 hours. From this, 250 Tons of sludge is extracted. If you go to the EPA web site, read the National Sampling of Sewer Sludge. There is over 4,300 Chemicals, a like number of Heavy Metals, trace elements of Rx Drugs, etc. This gets into livestock feed and the livestock wind up on your dinner plate! Ah Yummy!

May Sky (dog) rest in peace. It smells like rotting flesh when applied. Synagro is the company involved. Synagro is owned by the Carlyle Group. Carlyle is the largest private equity firm in the world. Our good friends from the Bush, Chenney, Bin Laden clan are involved. The sales pitch is free fertilizer. In reality Synagro dumps the toxic waste for free. Similar to the flouride in the water scam. If you think biosolids are safe, I've got a dead dog, sick girlfriend, and big chunks of hair that say otherwise. Thank you VA politicians. You've not only taxed me into oblivion. This is probably used in many farms around the world.. Farmers just want to maximise profits and this is like waste disposal, they might even be paid to take it or at least it would be super cheap. Our fruits and vegetables come from all over the world, who knows if the farms they eere harvested from is using this kind of compost or not? Many countries will only test the produce for excessive pesticides and doesn't care what the farms do or use to grow their crops.

People need to start using dry composting toilets instead of pooping in their drinking water. Dry toilet deposits can be fully composted and safely used as organic fertiliser.
The sludge in this video does not contain just human waste. It also contains all kinds of man made chemicals people use to scrub toilets do the laundry ect. If it was just human excrement collected from dry toilets, it would not be a problem.

Can't get upset , people are extremely busy watching vine videos more concerned about likes on fb page, personally this video should have more views and likes. With so much sludge produced daily we are consuming bi products of this stuff more frequent than we would ever like to imagine. I don't think it's safe, I bet many chemicals are added to the manure before it's finally rolled out, and to think of the layers and layers of this stuff that is used on the land season after season, the residue that is collected after years of the land consuming human fecal matter ... Awwwww. SALMONELLA !!! Don't tell me otherwise, let's put all the science behind, this is plain blunt common sense . Gross

    • @robertsmith5095
      @robertsmith5095 5 лет назад

Why are you saying fecal matter? Everyone goes lala over what actually gets flushed:
      Condoms
      Semen/sperm
Discharge from their penises and vaginas from sexually transmitted diseases
      Period blood
      Blood with HIV
      Feces with hepatitis
      Sick green thick hawk spit
      Snot and vomit
      Drugs
Pharmaceuticals which is in the biosolids end products because you can't remove it.
And everything else that gets flushed regularly.
I've worked in treatment plants, you always see condoms there always which means everything else on my list gets there as well.
Ever open a coconut or bite a juicy watermelon?
Where does all that water come from?
Only a sick satanist (though satanists are sick) would give a baby or little child cereal with an old "disinfected" condom floating around.
The worldly society are hypocrites they fuss over a long hair obviously from the waitresses head on their place then eat loads of this stuff with EVERYTHING in it!
I can wait until YESHUA GOD ALMIGHTY returns to take over. A bunch of babies thinking their grown because their physical body got bigger running the world.
