Always good to take a step back to return even stronger! I think most people underestimate how much energy it costs to train all these hours, both mentally and physically. Great job that you also sqeeuze all those editing hours in your life while working full time. I cant wait for the coming race videos this year ❤

best of luck at the cape epic! I did it in 2023 and finished. Take one day at a time, protect your bike (you break it, you are out), don't exert yourself too much in one day as it will carry over to the next day (those who over exert themselves, by Day 4, fatigue and mistakes start taking advantage of them, this where many quit). Eat all you can eat (carbs), avoid salads(too much food poisoning during our cape epic). Train for the heat, practice your hydration strategy. Be humble and ride your ride, don't get into competition. Have fun, its scenic out there. If you over exert yourself, you miss seeing the views, you never enjoy the experience, then by day 4 you will be in so much deficit, carrying on to day 8 will be absolute torture.

Yeah it is tough keeping all those plates in the air sometimes! Life, family, job, training. And I don't even have a utube channel let alone a successful one. The body has a good way of bringing one back to earth if its not getting enough recovery etc. Through sickness, injury, fatigue both physical/mental. So you can only do what you can do really. And doing more than that can end up being counter-productive, so look after yourself! Love your content btw. Keep it coming!!! :)

I´m glad that you put up this kinda real talk video. It may sound cheesy, but the thing you´re struggling with lately is called life and we all have to deal with it. Social media often gives us that impression that everything is so easy and fun, and all you´ve mentioned, like training 15+ hours a week, family, job, health, should be never a thing at all. But the truth is, everybody is struggling and it is totally ok to do so. Videos like this are important to show that we´re all humans and life´s not always sunshine. And it is ok to feel bad sometimes.
After all, I hope things are going finally in the right direction for you and that your 2024 will be amazing...looking forward to the upcoming videos. Cheers from your neighbors in Germany!

This is a real eye opener. Thanks for sharing. I watched Fabio Wibmer do an explainer film and thought to myself, shit man, there's so much organising and work that goes on behind the scenes that we don't see. BUT! He has a team behind him and a huge sponsor in RedBull! You do everything by yourself dude! I gotta tell you though Jasper, I watch ""A LOT""!!!! of cycling stuff on RUclips. Apart from actually riding my bike it's what I do the most. Your channel is easily one of the best and certainly the best in the style of content you create. Your enthusiasm, energy, sincerity and honesty is engaging and inspiring. It makes me want to get out and ride (even more😂) You do a fantastic job mate. Keep it up. Probably less training. Just listen to your body. Trying to improve when your lacking of sleep doesn’t work

Hi! Just love your videos. It gives me great inspirations to do my work :-) I'm just wondering. What kind of viedo editing program are you using? I'm doing a bit of videos myself, and are using Garmin Virb Edit. But are looking for others.
Stay away from Garmin virb. It hasn’t been updated for years.
Adobe premiere is what I use but there are many other programs that work.

Look at the world champ this year, he was in such a bad bad time last year, back pains, messed up situation at his hotel, fined in Australia... even this year he fell at the crosscountry while being top form, and if it wasn't for an early massive crash with just enough time for an impromptu bathroom stop and a lucky remount in the last corners...
Same for van Aert, great dude, best teammate, fantastic performances and ethics, but everybody talks about a second position spell, wich is some magic spell we could all want btw...
then there was a hand fracture for Pogi the duke, a weird vibe with all the talents and stars at Yumbo and Quickstep...
No matter what, a dude taking pro's KOM on Paris Roubaix segments, even for one day, will remount and come back.

@@jasperverkuijl Sure. I have no kids, but a stressful job in a tech company and more often than not I'm just to tired to do my training rides. If I'd have kids I could sell my bike instantly.

Yeah I don’t take it personal.
Just know that most products/brands we have in “the west” will have or outsource some of their production to Asia nowadays.
The factory I walked through had Winspace (Lún) rims and a lot of big western brands that they are producing.
So you may think you buy a A brand with western head office while the production is still in China… just saying..
