  • The Sacramento Kings hold one of the NBA's best offenses, and have been on an absolute tear as of late. Everything from their personnel to their scheme has been incredible to open the season. In this video, I break down and analyze the concepts and sets we've seen from the Kings that make this offense what it is.
    Welcome to Kings Film Room, where we analyze Sacramento Kings basketball through a different perspective, focusing on the X's and O's of the game and studying the tape. I appreciate you guys for supporting the channel, and leave any feedback or suggestions down below. Thank you!

    Been waiting for this one! It truly has been a joy to watch this team on the offensive end so far this season. Coach Brown and his staff are doing a fantastic job! If this keeps up better be prepared for your content to take off🙌

    I hope you do one on whether we're doing better on defense or not too. We aren't league leading there, but we still keep getting roasted that we're God awful, when the eye test says it's actually what's fueling our offense, and a key part of this winning run.

    Great breakdown! It's such a simple yet beautiful system that fits our high bball IQ starting 5 like fishes in water. So many were already talking about trades but when this team is finely tuned running smoothly, as you said, the options for a better shot can be endless bound only by the shot clock... haha

    Fox might be the best player on the team but Sabonis is their MVP, when he plays well, they win , if he's playing bad they lose. He's the fulcrum of the offense and anchor on the defense. Barring injuries I expect him to be an allstar and also get 3rd team allnba at the center position. And that knicks play is so beautiful to watch. It looks like a high-speed variation of the triangle.

    Great breakdown as always. Our offense is damn near elite especially since Fox has shown he's extremely effective in iso/clutch situations when things break down.
    Defense is another story.
    KFR, If you could get one player type that would most improve our defense, what would it be - a drop big rim protector/shot blocker or a versatile point of attack forward/wing?
    Can you name a player that would fit that role? Maybe someone thats underutilized on their current team?

    • @KingsFilmRoom
      @KingsFilmRoom  Год назад +4

      A versatile 3&D wing is probably more impactful to the Kings, unless the rim protector was also somewhat of a floor spacer. Someone like Anunoby would be a dream fit, but not sure how realistic that is given the Kings pick situation. Really tough to find someone of that caliber when you can’t trade a first for the next few years.

    Dropping a Kings vid tmrw and I really like the points touched on here as I noticed several of the same ones myself.
    1. Sabonis Grab & Go off live ball misses which frees everyone else to get out and run is big time.
    2. Huerter and Sabonis have that unspoken communication in live ball situations to seek each other out for a quick DHO
    3. Fox’s uber efficient 2pt scoring this season has been amazing.
    4. Love how they have drastically cut down PNR’s and instead played to the rosters strengths with more free flowing read and react concepts.
    My question to you as someone who watches the Kings more frequently then I do, what’s it going to take to get the most out of this roster defensively?

    • @KingsFilmRoom
      @KingsFilmRoom  Год назад +3

      I think the biggest misconception about the Kings defense is the idea that Sabonis is the problem. Since he isn’t a rim protector the Kings will naturally give up a ton of points in the paint, but he’s not necessarily a bad defender. He typically defends at the level of screens, which is possible because he has pretty good mobility. They also like to blitz other teams #1 options, guys like Trae, Steph, Ja, etc.. Domas is really good in these more aggressive PnR coverages.
      Most of the issues fall on the wings. Huerter, Keegan, Barnes are all pretty bad at the POA. Although Huerter is still a pretty solid team defender, Keegan and HB have way too many lapses off-ball, and the Kings just don’t have a rim protector to be able to account for these mistakes.
      The bench also severely lacks a 5 who offers any sort of defensive ability. Holmes was the backup 5 to start the season but got absolutely torched out of the PnR. Since then the Kings have turned to Metu, but he’s been pretty bad here as well. With Metu in the game the Kings like to switch everything, but he can’t stay in front of anyone (I mean even Austin reaves blows by him lol).
      That’s basically the gist of the problems. Getting a legit backup 5 will go a long way for this team, but with the roster as constructed I’m not sure anything more than an average defense is going to be possible. It is possible to build a good defense around Fox-Sabonis, but you need your wings to be better for that to happen.

    Finally been waiting for a post! So how would you feel about Simmons on this team? Please include the affects of his 30 million contract.

    • @KingsFilmRoom
      @KingsFilmRoom  Год назад +2

      Yeah the contract is disgusting. I could probably talk myself into it if it happened, but I'm not the biggest fan of the idea as it stands. He just looks like a shell of himself.

    • @blowc1612
      @blowc1612 Год назад

      @@KingsFilmRoom exactly, to me he is also has been bad late in the 4th I was telling my friends that 76ers was lucky to have Butler but Simmons destroys late game scenarios because teams can sag off him late in the game and if he drives just foul him and any close 4th with Simmons is a huge disadvantage. 76ers had Butler to lose games but they still lost to Leonard. Also Simmons is a locker room toxic. He is exactly who Butler was talking about why he left 76ers about the organization babying a player who doesnt try to get better. His defense is overrated that's why both Trae and Huerter lit score on him in his last series. He can't stretch the floor and if he has the ball either give him the 3pt shot or like I said if he has the ball just foul him.
      Then the contract one would destroy akt of what Kings has worked on for years and what Divac started, have flexibility with the cap space. I remember for the longest before Divacs Kings were full of big contracts from mediocre players and we might not be able to get a star in FA but having that cap space flexibility, you can get salary dump deals and add draft pick assets, Kings could never do that and we would be the ones doing salary dumps and we sucked. I credit Divacs to finally fixed har even though he kinda messed in the beginning and that has given Monte the flexibility he needed to put together the team he want without worrying about the salary cap. Yet people want to destroy that Simmons.
      Simmons woild eat 25% of our cap space and for what? A 6th man at best? There's a reason why he is coming off the Nets bench. that would shed our depth, Barnes would be gone a long side wit most likely TD and Metu. Would make us smaller in rotation. Then without money , we could lose Mitchell if we didn't have money since we would start thinking about Sabonis extension and eventually Murray's and Huerters.
      I swear people are fascinated by Simmons because he would be the easiest star to get, and akt of kings fans just want to get star power since they don't have much basketball understanding let alone be able to understand managing a team.
      People thinking the know more basketball than me and because I can be blunt and straightforward with the things I said, but I have predicted so many things about the NBA and I make good money during playoffs, I study stas... I understand basketball at a deep level that when the big 3 in Miami was put together I said they need a PG and it was their biggest weakness, but I predicted that they should get Bibby, which they actually did. It didn't work out much since he got old, but that's how good my understanding is that I can predict teams moves weekz or month before they do.... I predicted the Halibitter and Sabonis trade a week before it happened.
