A few years ago, I read a similar book called, “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Planes” by Eleanor Coerr. It was sad and beautiful. This short film reminds me of it.
Both the girls were sick. They were making paper cranes together to wish recovery for each other. However the pink girl cud make the thousandth one first and wished recovery for her sister however lost her life. At the end we can see the two cranes together pink and blue which cud also hint that the 2nd sister also died some time later and they are together symbolized by the two cranes together. This is my sense of the story. Heart touching story!!
I believe that the pink girl’s wish was not for the recovery of their sister, but for them to always be together which is written on the pink paper crane that is label one thousandth. Thus, it is understandable that when one dies the other would follow.

I notice that no one is talking about this, but I think at the end it seem that both girls have sadly died. That’s why there’s two paper cranes (Pink and Blue just like the little girls) at the and why the pink one said that they’ll “always be together”... at death they are still with each other. 🥺
The sound of the girl's cry when he sister passes away is so real. The way animated characters speak usually sound a little different from how people talk in real life, but that girl's cry just sounds as real as a cry can be.
It's based on the belief that if you make one thousand paper cranes, your wish will be fulfilled. Its sad that the blue girl wanted the thousandth paper crane to be made to wish for her sister's life, but her sister did it before that night and wished for the blue girl. It was wonderful watching this.
It seemed like he pink girl when she made the thousand paper crane, she wished they they would be forever together, and the blue girl died after, so they were together in the end.
This Story was inspired by Sadako Sasaki, a Japanese Girl who was born in Hiroshima in 1943. At the age of 2, she had gotten leukaemia; a sort of blood cancer, from radiation from a radioactive bomb sent by the U.S. she had to drop out from school because it had gotten severe. Then, she heard of a myth that if you make 1000 origami cranes, you can make any wish you want. So she kept on making cranes but unfortunately, she died at the age of 12 due to her sickness of leukemia. She only made around 644 cranes. Her friends and family continued making cranes until there were 1000. There is now a memorial statue of her in Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park.
Thank you, to tell us the story. The real story 🥺. My heart is broken... We lost our brother 1995. He was 26. When he goes, our light was off 😔🥺. We two where like twins all the time. When I was 40, I became cancer, breastcancer. I thought, hey I go to my brother. But our dad, passed away. Now I am 52 and live with my 86 year old mother. My big Sis is 57 years old. We miss both... 💖💖💖💖. Sorry for my English please. I have no energy to fight for live.
@@nebahatyokaribas7357your brother and your dad would surely want you to live. And they would definitely be proud of you defeating the cancer. Just please stay strong! I promise it’s worth it!!! ✨🍀✨
There's probably some other comment that already clarified this but I'll try to go into more detail. There was a story about a girl in Hiroshima. It was when America dropped their atomic bombs onto Hiroshima and Nagasaki to test it out. Thousands of people died, and others got sick from the radiation. Sadako was affected by the radiation when she was 2, when she was 12, she got Leukemia, it was said by doctors she would only have 1 year left to live. She believed in a myth where if you fold 1000 cranes, you'll be granted 1 wish (i can confirm it's a real myth as my brother's school did this for his principle). She started folding the cranes. As days go by, she stayed in her room, folding these cranes nonstop in hopes of being able to get her wish. But she sadly passed away, even though she folded 1000 cranes. After that, a statue was built as tribute to her, with it showing a girl holding a folded crane with the words engraved underneath "Our wanting is to have peace on this world" roughly translated. I read about it when I was in 3rd or 4th grade.
I really appreciate that Japan chose peace over retribution even though Japan's citizen suffered so much after nuclear attack. Those who forgive are courageous.
She didn’t finish folding 1000 cranes tho from what I heard, she was short of around 300? I think I remember that her friends and family finished the 1000 cranes after she died. 🌸🌺
@@charlie-xg4gz yeah I remembered the version I read she folded 640 somewhere near that number but I tried to reconfirm it and turns out there are a lot of versions on how many she folded. Some say she finished but bc it was a myth so she passed away still, some said she only finished 300 or some other number. We'll never know.
I remember this story. Wasn't it called something like Sadako's 1000 cranes, or something like that? I remember reading this as a children's story (translated into English) for my practicum when I taught a grade 5 class. It was a very sad but moving story.
i know ive watched this many times but i still manage to shed atleast 2 tears everytime i watch it. the girls cry is so real and the fact this is inspired by a real girl who died from leukemia. this short will never get old for me.
This is based on a true story. In japan in ww2, there was a bombing witch let out a disease called Leukemia. A toddler named Sadako caught the disease but it didn’t affect her when she was that young. When she was 11-12 the leukemia really started to affect her. She learned that if you make 1000 origami paper cranes, you can make a wish. So when she was sick in the hospital she started making the paper cranes. Sadly, she was only able to make it to 644 paper cranes before passing away.
I it’s hard to talk about but I lost my daughter 3 to cancer in the liver 3 months ago and my life has changed with out her she was the lil light of my family 💙

I just don’t understand: why are there so many stupid, violent, sexist and superficial cartoons and anime all over the tv and cinema, when students can create such heart-touching, meaningful and tender animation? What do we do wrong? Guys, your animation is great! I really really wish success to all of you 🍀
I never really understood how sad this experience could be but now I actually understand. And boy did I cry. I wish anyone the best if they are in this type of situation. Edit: Never had this many likes before.. thank you.☺
Both sister's were making 1000 cranes to recover from some kinda disease or to wish something they wanted to... Thus the pink sister made her 1000th crane first so she wished for her and her sis could stay together forever and wished for her sis to stay well...The blue sis made 999 till now...Suddenly the blue sis wake up in middle of night and saw her grandmother taking her sis to a room...She understood that her sis was about to die , she took an origami paper besides her to make her 1000th crane and wish for her sis to stay alive...But on the last step of making crane she accidentally tore the paper crane...And till it was too late...Then we see a pink and blue crane together which symbolizes that the blue sister died too and they were both happy in heaven...Very heart touching story!!!But well this was my sight of the story...Thank u...
Hi I’m Japanese Thank you for making this video. This was a sad story, but Origami is one of the beautiful culture in Japan 🇯🇵 I’m glad that origami story moved many people’s hearts in other countries. 😊😢😊😢😊
ハイ、日本人 じゃない。ドイツ人 です。The story remembers me at Sasaki Sadako. She made 1000 crans when she get sick. This short movie is a really touching story. You needn't the language for understanding 😊 好き だ よ 💙
This is based on a true story: In Japan, there was a girl named Sadako Sasaki, and when she was just a baby, some part of her brain or something was affected because of the atom bomb. So when she got older, she gets sick and eventually had to drop out of school. There was a myth that if you fold a thousand origami cranes, any wish you choose will come true. So when Sadako was in the hospital she attempted to do so. She kept on folding and folding. At one point, she got better for a week and her family gave her a silk dress, which is very expensive and hard to get, but Sadako didn't question it. After that week, she got sick once again, and continued folding her cranes each time whispering "I wish to get better." At the age of 12, Sadako died and she was only able to make 600+ cranes. Her friends and family finished these cranes for her. Today there is a memorial for her somewhere in Japan. The memorial is a statue of her holding a giant crane and under it, are thousands of cranes made by visitors. People come from all over the world just to leave a few cranes underneath her statue. I'm not entirely sure if this is the story. I don't remember when I heard it or who told it to me. Please correct me if any of this information isn't correct.
This animation is so sad and yet so beautiful. I cry every time I watch this. You should be grateful for your family and never forget that they love you no matter what. ❤❤❤
Poor Gran Gran... She lost both of her grandchildren... My great grandmother died of heart break after her son died. It's painfull. They're all in a better place now. ♥️
@@followerofjimpickens9135 I feel that the "Always together" note in the end means that the other girl died (after all, she was sick too). That's why the room is so empty. Edit: Also that would mean their wish came true, be together for the eternity.
This was actually based on true story it's Japanese story that if you make a thousand origamis it's gonna recover you from a fatal disease. At those times I think it was World War II and a girl fell sick from the age 2 in Japan. She started making a thousand origamis and some years later she stopped wishing to recover and made the origamis based on a wish for peace from the war as all she wanted was peace for everyone and didn't like to see people fighting each other. However, she died at the age of 12 before completing the thousand origamis. Her friends and relatives completed making them till they reached a number of thousand and spread the news. Now in Japan, there is a statue of this girl and a fire made that is still burning to this day. People believe that the fire will not stop burning until peace occurs on Earth and war is stopped. Edit: mom look I'M FAMOUS 😱 Edit 2: guys this might not be accurate as 1. I had this as a comprehension in my English exam three years ago so I don't remember everything and 2. Every history book or textbook or whatever else you read this story from will not tell you the exact same thing as they are all probably different authors. This is just a summary I wanted to share if you have more additional things you can add them in the comments 😊
This is so close to my heart, it reminded me about my twin sisters, both of them left the world soon..... I always thought y the almighty didn't leave one of them to us & mourned thinking about them. But today when I saw that note "always together" I cried hard by realizing that, atleast 'they are together' now. Blessed girls, even death was defeated before their bond...
Awwh😢😢 im sorry , thats so sad but know that they're in a better place 😇 and like u said their together, dont cry cause they wont like to see u like that
One time my class and I read a book about this. (Sadako and the 1000 paper cranes.) The teacher then taught us how to make the cranes and our goal was to make 1000 of them. We ended up making more than 1000 (maybe even more than 2000). After a few months or so of making them, we gave this girl with leukaemia the paper cranes. (We got on the news as well)
*STORY* A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted… “Dad, look the trees are going behind!” Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed… “Dad, look the clouds are running with us!” The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man… “Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?”The old man smiled and said… “I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today". Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you. Note : Story is not written by me. *Well my dream is to hit 10k subs, any help is much appreciated* It takes only 5 seconds and make my day, Thank you.!
At the ending, it shows the beds being made, instead of the blankets being strewn when the twins where sleeping in the bed. This could show that maybe the other twin has also sucumb to the illness, or maybe she's just sleeping......elsewhere.
Those two are sisters, I lost my best friend (she was practically my sister) when she was in an accident. I cried the whole year, but she still visits me in my dreams. Fun fact: We both were chatting online 1 hr before her accident.
Me and my family did this for my uncle. We worked for hours, if not days if not weeks. They were all displayed in his house, we finished them all. Sadly, our wish never came. I hope he's in a better place now. I miss him.
As a genuine Japanese person, I taught foreigners the important feeling, "Let's get along with the good old Japanese life even if we go to heaven." In Japan today, the bonds of the family are so weak that the relationship cannot be repaired when they notice it. Thanks to this animation, I was able to reaffirm the importance of brother-sister relationships. Thank you so much.
Fear and anxiety made this. Love and passion too. I’d rate it PG. it reminds me of how we can overcome fear and heartbreak even when we don’t know it. Sisterhood is amazing in this story. Please keep on making what you do without giving us nightmares!❤
@@cattwins2977 In the last scene, it was hinted that the other girl eventually died as well, because the house was cleared out and there were left only two cranes, each representing one of the girls. They were always together, not only in life, but also in death.
Both of them did their best...and wished for each other!! But destiny has it's own way of teaching us That no matter who stays or leaves... Love remains!
They doesnt like it because the girls dies. Oldest first, younger later. The wish to be "always together' damned to lost their battle to the illness. Its obvious the youngest pass away too, if you fund just an empty house. The " confort' is they will be together in that better place. A bond beyond death. Its so sad... Its a tender, sweet story, but sadly doesn't got a happy ending. I cant click "like' button for that. And either " unlike', because is a wonderful animation work. Love every detail.
I have so much sympathy for the blue sister and the grandmother 😢 Also, so scary the pink sister lost her life 😮 I always feel so sad when I hear the grandmother and 2nd sister’s crying 😭
I think that the story is about the 2 girls living with their grandma and making 1 thousands paper cranes so they can wish for something, but soon the two got sick, the one that wore pink got even more sick, and when they were almost done with 1 thousand paper cranes, the girl that wore blue tried to make 1 more to wish for the the that wore pink to get better, the paper ripped from all the pressure, stress, and time that was going on in her head, but the girl that wore pink already had made a thousand, with a note that describes for the wish she granted was that she wished to not for her sister to worry and remember that she was always going to be on her side, as in she knew she wasn’t going to make it in time for her sister to save her
close! through the process of making 1,000 cranes you can trade your life for another if the person is who would otherwise make them is unable to continue
Nothing can stop death. All we can do is seeing the reality and being prepared for it. It is sad to depart from loved ones and being together with unpleasant ones. This life is filled with sadness. People are unable to see it because their vision is covered. Because of that people tend to see happiness in things that are not certain and which is always changing. They seek pleasure in these and eventually become sad when the opposite of what they think happens. Please see everything as nothing of your own. See the reality and accept it. Please study Buddhism. You will find answers for everything.
My guess is that the pink girl had caught Tuberculosis, a bacteria which one of the girls probably inhaled Like in a Google search, the pink girl coughed up bloody mucus, the blue girl got a fever, they both must’ve gotten weight loss, And then eventually led to death. This was heartbreaking and very sad, I hope no one in real life ever goes through Tuberculosis.
This is so sad makes me cry every time I watch it knowing how old the grandmother is she probably passed away with her two granddaughters and now their all in heaven embracing each other and never letting go and its just a heart touching thing but sad because they should have lived a long happy life and in the film it showed us that they were happy until they passed away.
The second I saw the title, I knew what was coming. My Vietnamese friend had previously told me how if you make a thousand paper cranes, you can make a wish. She attempted it, but we are not very close anymore, so I am not sure if she ever finished.
Wow such a powerful and sad story. How beautifully put together and the animation is so cute and well done. You could feel the grandmother's pain and the sisters too as their crying seemed so real. Then I started crying as it really did seem real. You then think of the loved ones you have lost along the way prior to this short film. Well done to all the students who were involved with the project, you are all multi talented. God bless and stay safe and healthy and always happy.
I remember when I was little i got hooked up into reading and I found this book that tells the storry of a Thousand Origami, A story about a girl child which has disease due to Hiroshima bombings aftermath, because of their urban legend of making thousand origamis she was inspired in making a thousand origamis and wishing she could wish to be healed in the book it says she died at 644 folded origamis but in real life she actually completed the 1000 origamis and even exceeded it before dying. Yet she still dies but the courage and bravery of her faith to live is what makes me so inspired and admire her. Sadder than Grave of Fireflies. Her name is Sadako. She is now a mark for World Peace.
Lets all pray for those people dying , suffering and enduring this virus! Also for the doctors who selflessly risk their life and help us... My mom herself, is a doctor and I'm proud of her job I hope all this is over soon and we all survive it! 💕✨
@@b0nes.cha0s I know it isnt, but that doesn't stop it from correlating to a sickness that kills people. My grandmother had a similar experience. After the end of World War II, Japan was in the process of reconstruction and it was difficult to transport medicine to the mountainous areas. Her brother and father had pneumonia, but died because of the delay in treatment. I think this could happen not only in Japan but in any country when war breaks out. War is definitely not good.
This should be aired during these Covid 19 times....although it wasn't written for such, yet can still alert those that seem to think it's a joke. .thank-you all that have worked on this.

@@charlie-xg4gz that's so sad...

That is the sadest thing I've ever heard :(

This is based on a true story:
In Japan, there was a girl named Sadako Sasaki, and when she was just a baby, some part of her brain or something was affected because of the atom bomb.
Please correct me if any of this information isn't correct.
first, I didn't understand why she is making cranes to save her sister, after ur coment I understood it's myth

“Dad, look the trees are going behind!”

“Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”

“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?”The old man smiled and said…
“I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today".

I think that the story is about the 2 girls living with their grandma and making 1 thousands paper cranes so they can wish for something, but soon the two got sick, the one that wore pink got even more sick, and when they were almost done with 1 thousand paper cranes, the girl that wore blue tried to make 1 more to wish for the the that wore pink to get better, the paper ripped from all the pressure, stress, and time that was going on in her head, but the girl that wore pink already had made a thousand, with a note that describes for the wish she granted was that she wished to not for her sister to worry and remember that she was always going to be on her side, as in she knew she wasn’t going to make it in time for her sister to save her
Good explanation
close! through the process of making 1,000 cranes you can trade your life for another if the person is who would otherwise make them is unable to continue
🥺😭😭😭😭😭😭😫😫😫😫😫
Nothing can stop death. All we can do is seeing the reality and being prepared for it. It is sad to depart from loved ones and being together with unpleasant ones. This life is filled with sadness. People are unable to see it because their vision is covered. Because of that people tend to see happiness in things that are not certain and which is always changing. They seek pleasure in these and eventually become sad when the opposite of what they think happens. Please see everything as nothing of your own. See the reality and accept it. Please study Buddhism. You will find answers for everything.
My guess is that the pink girl had caught Tuberculosis, a bacteria which one of the girls probably inhaled
Like in a Google search, the pink girl coughed up bloody mucus, the blue girl got a fever, they both must’ve gotten weight loss,
And then eventually led to death.

Yet she still dies but the courage and bravery of her faith to live is what makes me so inspired and admire her. Sadder than Grave of Fireflies. Her name is Sadako. She is now a mark for World Peace.

Has anyone still watched it until 2024 😢😢 I have watched it until today and this is the second time I have watched it in my life, this makes me feel bitter and tears every time I cry. It seems that this may be the serious consequence of the war that took away thousands of lives.
Heart touching .. Without any dialogues... It just spread us... a unique idea... Love.. Happiness.. Sorrow... Anxiety.. Just every single emotion was included... Thanks.. 💖💖💖💖
Roses are red
Thorns are prickly
All I gotta said is
"That escalated quickly"
the child like hope, innocence and freedom of the young girls was beautifully done.
Sisters are the master piece of nature.....it is the best relationship of the world.....sisters are not only sisters but they are best friend.....in my life, I can't found a good and best friend in my school college and university because I have already a best friend in my house,,,my sister....😍
Whenever I watch this film I don't know why every time my all close friend's came first in my mind , I love them so much 😭 This short really moved me every time. I was crying with the characters.
This is so heart touching !! *Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters, we should give time and value to our Family , friends and who care for us , whom we love.*
Rispe je mapél kelsy🥺😭😓

I'm looking for an animated short about a little girl who meets death. When death finally goes away, the little girl asks if she will see her again. Do you know him? Can you tell me the title?
@@irisbonifacio1692 I think '' the windrop "
@@arpitapatra8454 I looked for this name and didn't find it
Blue girl: *coughs*
Me: Oh she's dying.
Bunny girl: *coughs then dies*
Me: OH PLOT TWIST!
IKR! When she coughed out blood, that hit my heart a little.. 💔
YAA
I actually thought bunny girl was faking it to help comfort/relate to her sister! When I saw the blood I was like "they pulled a fast one on me"
Thought the same
I think the bunny girl made a wish that's she'll get her sister's sickness
