If the sun was to explode due to alien weaponry, but the planets remained physically intact (and not thrown outward at great velocity), that would be blowing up a star. However, if the initial explosion was so massive that it destroyed the planets also, that would be blowing up a star system. An over-generalization, of course, but I think it conveys the basic idea.

Because I love Richard D Anderson stumbled on to Stargate on Netflix last year I loved it watched over and over again. Jack was great with his dry sense of humor and the rest of the cast was great also. I will be watching on Comet mid January the best.
