Spring is here... revisiting Brideshead 1981 ... Castle Howard... splendid times !
I often think of this scene whenever I am out on a beautiful day, and stop to appreciate the beauty around me.
This is the greatest movie of all time.
"Do please return the bits to him if I kill myself." Ouch, the foreshadowing.

Затем он, как и вы, вернулся на войну, был залатан, выпрыгнул из совершенно хорошего самолета в возрасте 42 лет над немецкой территорией в земле Юго, ... поплыл ... прошел вокруг отряда, он встретил Товариша Тито ... стал офицер связи и получил DSO или что-то в этом роде за свои усилия ... помогая летать с оружием для Tito Partizans.
Потом война закончилась ... он, что удивительно, был еще жив и ходил искать издателей, чтобы продать свой Великий английский роман.
I am glad that Ruslan the Russki posted this .. perhaps he has an English Soul ??
It may interest the foreigners here that old E. Waugh took about 3months off from training during WWII (he was a Captain or some such) and went to his CO and said -
"old chap.. . I need time off to write the Great English Catholic novel... I'll be fine .. I 'll pop in from time to time. should I keep the revolver or check it in at the armoury ?"
This at the time when the U-boats were ravaging the Atlantic convoys and the Russky allies were dying like flies over on the eastern snowy battlefields.
Then he went back to war, as you do, got patched up, jumped out of a perfectly good aeroplane at age 42 over German territory in Jugo land ,... floated down.. marched around unit he met Tovarish Tito... became a liaison officer and got a DSO ** or some such for his efforts... helping to fly in arms for the Tito Partizans . ** Possibly a bad memory on my part - anyone who jumps out of and aircraft other than to save his life should get a DSO in any case.
Then the war was over... he remarkably was still alive and went around looking publishers to sell his Great English Novel.
He thereafter became some sort of gentleman farmer. Left the army for good. And a good thing too, old chap.
A truly eccentric English story and pretty much what happened.

Thank you for sharing this! I just started watching the series and it's just wonderful. I didn't know that Evelyn Waugh has an interesting biography, I should probably read the novel itself now.
By the way, I'm Russian and it's flattering that had even translated the text :)
