I mean I just at Dominican at least once a month in the US from authentic restaurants, not eating something because of more seasoning is only valid if all you eat in the US is fast food 🤣
We agree you shouldn't avoid eating foods with different seasoning... just to be aware that you might experience stomach issues when you first do until your body acclimates to the new seasoning and ingredients. It's normal and true for all cuisines or diet changes. Thanks for commenting 😀
🤣🤣🤣 I guess you not eating nothing just avoid greasy stuff the change in the oil and the seasoning might get your stomach rumbling but hey never leave home with out some pepto enjoy and definitely you need some one that lived there so you can enjoy the whole land so many thing you can explore in Dom Rep I’m born and raise in USA but my parents are from Dom Rep
Hahahaha, sadly that’s basically it! Nevertheless we don’t follow our own advice many times… being locals it’s less disruptive to get a little stomach sick since it’s not our main vacation. Our gut is also more used to it. We don’t mean to put down vegetables on this video they’re just a little risky if eaten raw

Yes. Your best bet is pizza as even if it didn‘t get heated well enough, it won‘t be so bad. I still ate tomatoes and raw fruits (no raw salad) and I was the only one who wasn‘t sick. Chicken and fish seem to be the worst things, I don‘t eat those things because I‘m vegetarian.
I was very careful,i ate no salad, nothing raw,no fish,no ice,no fruits, brushed teeth with bottled water ,drank bottled water & bottled coke, and ive had a stomach upset for 4 weeks since i got back home to UK from Punta cana 🤢 Have had to visit my Doctor twice for antibiotics for it. Its a beautiful country but the stomach issues and painful cramps has put me off returning..
My first time in the DR I got so sick from the food at a wedding reception. I was down for 9 days. Worst pain I've ever felt. 9 others got sick as well.
the water plays a big role in the states for the most part water is safer to drink in other countries there are no protocols to keep water safe to drink
some people just have week metabolisms, I grew up back in the day when you eat anything even stuff that falls on the ground, some people today are so sheltered, and they never exposed their immune system to bad stuff as a kid so they never built up any sort of tolerance that their body can't handle the odd bad meal. just my opinion Im not knocking anyone...
Dominican food is very bland and they don't use a lot of spices. I don't agree that you shouldn't eat locrio. It's meat cooked in the rice. The cooking time kills anything and the only spices used are chicken bouillon, onion, garlic and cilantro. Chicken, pork and sausage are all great in locrio. If you want something very traditional and historical try locrio de arrenque, or locrio with smoked herring but you have to have it with a nice ripe banana instead of salid. Two great tastes that go great together! 😄👍
We're working on getting an updated version of this video out since our point did not come through as intended in this video. You can eat everything at the resort; the more upscale the resort, the safer; we just wanted to caution people about getting upset stomachs, bugs, or bacteria that ruin their vacation. Thank you so much for your comment, Rik! 🙂
Purchase a bottle of vinegar and Soak your salad in it then rinse with bottled water, not tap water. If you drink tap water you will shit worms lol. I have seen someone pass worms in their stools after getting drunk and then drinking tap water at their resort. Tap water is lethal
Thank you for the video. I'm going to Punta Cana this Friday, and I really want to have fun and enjoy my vacations without getting sick! This video is really helpful 😄
Thanks for the list. I have been to Punta Cana 3 times within the last 7 years. The first two visits were fine except for a mild case of diarrhea but the last trip in Feb 2020 I had gotten very sick. I was down for 24 hours. I am sure it was something I ate. My lessons learned is to pace myself and don't over indulged as you mentioned. Cheers.
Totally agree! Thanks for sharing your story =) I always try not to overeat because I really want to spend as much time as I can at the beach and at the pool, and if I get sick I would not be able to do that.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. You were very fortunate not to be hospitalised like I was. I will never eat from a resort again and will cook my own food for safety. I almost died from my experience
The same thing can be said in America except for the drinking water in most cases but any food that is in bins such as subway Chipotle all you can eat restaurants .. this is a harbor for bacteria. Thanks for the info. 👍
Hi, Valeryan, the best internet company for homes is CLARO and this is the link to all the plans they have (with the price): www.claro.com.do/personas/servicios/servicios-hogar/internet/internet-fijo/ I hope this helps! :)
Depending on your budget, resorts located in the Cap Cana area are top notch. We've also heard great things about the Lopesan Costa Bavaro... We've been told it's the best hotel in Punta Cana right now. We're actually staying there later this month.
@@NittyGrittyTravelers hello, did u stay at the Lopesan Costa Bavaro???? i am going next weekend and still dident book yet the hotel. please et me know if is good,,,,,
Sorry to ask this question. When it says "adults only" Is there nudity allowed on the beach. My wife and I prefer not to be at such a resort. Again sorry for the question, its our first time going to Punta Cana
Not at all. Adults only is a concept in some hotels where no one under 18 years of age is allowed. It's a normal hotel otherwise, just aimed at adults that wish to experience the peace and quiet of having no children around.
I just got back from Riu Bambu in Punta Cana and it was utterly disgusting. I was sick for days...even after returning home. From the food to the cleanliness to the all around experience. It was very traumatic and I don’t plan on ever going back smh.
It’s a good idea to check the most recent reviews on hotels since management or other things can change and quality suffers. Good thing you were on top of reading reviews!
@@Precious_Diamondss If you care about your well being please don't book this resort. I also noticed that the majority of good reviews come from the locals.

Unfortunately many people from developed countries don't understand how incredibly unsafe and unclean the water and food can be in places such as Dominican Republic
@yeety dab One day I was at work and this Guatemalan lady couldn’t find her water she drank out the water hose and some of the Americans thought it was odd bud she’s from the country
@@littlel4206 I'm originally from Canada and we always drink out of the garden hose in the summer. The tap water is treated. Great video! Any advice on excursions? Booking them there or online we will be staying at RIU palace punta Cana in the middle of march. Thank you in advance
Salt (grain salt), hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar.....these are your friends when it comes to cleaning your foods and vegetables...
Take a probiotic for a couple of weeks ahead. Also papaya eaten first thing in the day will help.
Love the tip!
Just got back last week.. Been sick every since my return... I ate many large fresh salads daily.. Bad decision..
What a bummer!
Mofongo is not Dominican, it’s PuertoRican. Mangu it’s Dominican. It’s laughable that you consider those plates light
We never had an issue with food in the DR and I have GI issues. I never eat raw fish to begin with and I stay away from clams when in another country.
Just stick to mofongo for breakfast lunch and dinner and you’ll survive the DR 🤣
😝
Thank you sooo much for this info ! Especially for the info on salad, fruits, ice cubes and water.
Glad it was helpful!

Dont eat and drink...
We eat an A LOT when in an all inclusive hotel in DR, we're just mindful of what to eat and what to eat less of
Just stay away from cold seafood and salad.

Pepto saved our recent trip to a resort!! Definitely a must have.
I will bring my caned tuna and salmon to eat.

What the hell do you eat?
Better not eat and drink there no joke
I stopped watching the video in the sushi part, cause thats what I mostly what i eat in punta cana and santo domingo when go out for dinner
If you have to avoid water / ice, how do you safely drink cocktails?
Tap water should be avoided but they usually buy ice pre made
The managers are usually from Mexico, Spain, or other countries.
We Dominicans drink bad from hot plastic water.
Wish I saw this earlier. I’m here in DR with the stomach virus 🦠😞
So sorry to hear that! We would love it if you share your experience

Are the drinks they make out of the pineapple safe?
The DR has a vast pineapple crop so any pineapple used in a resort is most likely fresh 🙂
