I mean I just at Dominican at least once a month in the US from authentic restaurants, not eating something because of more seasoning is only valid if all you eat in the US is fast food 🤣

    • @NittyGrittyTravelers

We agree you shouldn't avoid eating foods with different seasoning... just to be aware that you might experience stomach issues when you first do until your body acclimates to the new seasoning and ingredients. It's normal and true for all cuisines or diet changes. Thanks for commenting 😀

Hahahaha, sadly that’s basically it! Nevertheless we don’t follow our own advice many times… being locals it’s less disruptive to get a little stomach sick since it’s not our main vacation. Our gut is also more used to it. We don’t mean to put down vegetables on this video they’re just a little risky if eaten raw

    •  Год назад

Yes. Your best bet is pizza as even if it didn‘t get heated well enough, it won‘t be so bad.
I still ate tomatoes and raw fruits (no raw salad) and I was the only one who wasn‘t sick. Chicken and fish seem to be the worst things, I don‘t eat those things because I‘m vegetarian.

  • @hicoteo

Dominican food is very bland and they don't use a lot of spices. I don't agree that you shouldn't eat locrio. It's meat cooked in the rice. The cooking time kills anything and the only spices used are chicken bouillon, onion, garlic and cilantro. Chicken, pork and sausage are all great in locrio. If you want something very traditional and historical try locrio de arrenque, or locrio with smoked herring but you have to have it with a nice ripe banana instead of salid. Two great tastes that go great together! 😄👍

The first two visits were fine except for a mild case of diarrhea but the last trip in Feb 2020 I had gotten very sick. I was down for 24 hours. I am sure it was something I ate.
