"...as she reluctantly departs Portland..." Now when I heard this, it gave me a feeling that the 3713 had a mind and refused to depart. But mechanically, its just the big drivers.
She's been in Scranton at Steamtown for the last 30 years or something, with like 70% of that time being disassembled in their backshops being very very slowly restored. She's still not done yet, and only God knows when she will be.
My subwoofer rests against my desk, so when i'm running the trains around with the volume really high up, my desks vibrates violently sometimes lol. When you hold the right mouse button, the desk shakes my hand and causes the camera to shake randomly. For the overhead shot, the shaking was both my mouse shaking the video, and a bit of shaking in the editing software.
I always pretend that I’m the driver example. When the train starts I pretend to turn a valve like it’s the air bell yank the throttle back then pull down a whistle chain IM THAT IMMATURE
I'm so glad the Boston & Maine is finally getting some attention. You did a fantastic job not only making the 3713 and the rolling stock, but also the route from Boston to Portland as well. I approve! :D
Knowing Steve, it's almost certainly a set of static scenes with little-to-no other detailing, but for the scenes he does have, they're always very detailed and authentic recreations of somewhere the prototype operated. It's too bad he spends all his time working on the packs themselves, because based off these scenes, he could probably make a pretty kick ass route.
@@Michael-eg3rs One thing is, you know K&L makes a seperate T;ANE and TRS19 version of the engine, and then earlier versions such as TRS2009 and TRS12, and they use T;ANE to make these routes. What this means is that, to release their routes for the scenes of the videos, they'd need a download for T;ANE and TRS19, and a download for the older versions of the game like TRS12, 10, and 09. That's the real issue. If they could make routes for both version groups, they could release them as either freeware or (probably) payware.
I love the Boston and Maine. My great great grandfather worked for the railroad and since I have a connection to railroading, it has increased my dreams of becoming a railroader. If you guys want to add more B&M engines to your list, I suggest the Boston and Maine R-1 4-8-2 Mountain Type. Do what you want, I am just giving you an idea.
This a beautifully made promo for such an important locomotive, and the music at the ending sounds so patriotic and fits perfectly with the ending of the first life of the 3713. Outstanding work, Steve!!!
As I watch this for the second time, this video is probably my favourite K&L video due to the sheer amount of soul put into it. That is a specific quality K&L has, it makes it all like it was real. Great Job, and I am glad this was in my suggested list.. R.I.P Boston and Maine. Thank god she is preserved.
@@mikeytrains1 It is an operational restoration, however I believe there is still quite a bit of work left to do on it. Since Steamtown is a National Historic Site, they don't get that much funding for stuff like that, hence it taking more time.

I've had this engine in my Trainz ever since its release. After blowing/hearing its whistle for some time by now, I think it sounds very close if not on spot to GTW/OCHR 6325. I have some more ideas: Louisville & Nashville "Big Emma" New York Central L3a Mohawk Southern PS-4 Pacific Chesapeake & Ohio L-1 Hudson Shall I go on?
Two, fully narrated promo videos in one year, that's certainly a first for you, Mr. Lerro. And I know that you don't use Trainz routes of any sort, instead making only layouts for scenes, but the scenery is quite detailed and impressive.
I wasn't expecting this video to be what it turned out to be. The more involved I got with building the engine, the more the story of the Farewell to Steam trip was eating ay me. So there you go!!! :D
K&L Trainz It doesn’t matter to me whether you intended it to be narrated or not. What matters is that you make the promo videos look like film footage of the actual engines in action, regardless whether it’s fully narrated or not.
Also on K&L Trainz’s project page he is making the New York Central 4-6-4 Dreyfuss Hudson and probably the Empire State Express since they have the same look
Just the 20th century Dreyfuss and matching cars, not the Empire State, I just dont have the time to do both at the moment, maybe in the future I can modify it for the ESE.

A couple of things I would like to add about the 3713. I have the original paperwork kept by the B&M's chief steam locomotive expert from the time period. The 3713 was not known for being a good steamer regardless of what they tinkered with. They never did solve that mystery. Another interesting note is that when compared to the NYC Hudsons of the same time period, the B &M P-4's were better performers and could get off the starting line faster than the Hudsons by virtue of their boosters. By all accounts, the P-4's could very well have shown up as hudsons instead but not having that extra axle allowed better tractive effort on the drivers and the booster.
The whistle just makes me a bit more sadder every time it blows because i’ll never get to hear it on any computer I own due to every attempt failing to get the game so I can be able to buy this content

A magnificent video for a magnificent machine. Bravo, sirs. You've really outdone yourselves this time. I must admit, for just a second there at the start, when I first heard the narrator, the thought flashed through my head of "Is that Tom Hanks? If not, it should be." That bit of sway on the rolling stock, was that an effect from the track splines in TANE or something y'all added to the models? And of course, I've seen quite a few lovely American Pacifics in my time. But this one in particular took my breath away. There's just something about her, so big and strong and powerful, yet still graceful and nimble on her tall driving wheels. I'm glad to hear at least one of this class survived and is being restored, hopefully to steam anew someday. And that music right at the end. Wasn't that the version of "Nearer My God To Thee" from the film "A Night To Remember"?
TANE has the option of adding "track condition", the lower the number the worse the train will sway. Most of the scenes where you saw the sway had track set to about 55-60% condition. And yes, that was the conclusion song from "A Night to Remember"....thought I was the only one who had seen that since the newer movie takes all the glory! It didn't mention who had performed it at the end of the movie so I had no clue who to credit in the video description.
I thought so. I love that movie, easily the second-best Titanic film yet made behind the 1997 James Cameron extravaganza (with arguably better acting and more compelling characters than Cameron's). Certainly a step up from the 1953 American film or the 1943 Nazi propaganda version.

As if the 3713 was sentient. No I’m not leaving this place for the last time it’s probably saying.

Why not? If the tracks are still there anything is possible
