Something ive noticed about critical captures is that at the beginning of the throw, the trail the ball leaves behind does an arc, which is a faster way of telling whether it’s a critical capture than seeing it shake.
lol i was just about to comment this but i still want to add something, the more the ball curves the better the critical capture. sometimes the ball won’t even shake it’ll just catch after the tremble.
This is the kind of golden info I come to these comments for.
@@gunkplazti2463 that doesn’t depend on the curve, it does that only if a mon is in the air or water.

I've noticed that you can also tell if a Pokemon is a Ditto by the way it walks. Most Pokemon walk in a straight line; Ditto walks in a sort of zigzag pattern.
Sadly i can just hold down focus button and check names

Yeah and it acts different same with zorua line.i was hunting zoroark for like one cycle (decided to come back when i finish the dex) and when as toedscool it will have a question mark above their head instead of fleeing with the water drops near the head
i learned that if a pokemon is just acting depressed instead of its normal ai, then its a ditto. learned this while shiny hunting ditto. still haven't got my shiny

Hunting for shiny Ditto/Zorua/Zoroark in this game is really fun. Seeing your let's go pokemon refuse to fight a normal-looking pokemon and having that moment of "wait hold on, does that mean-" is so cool.
Another thing: Ditto, Zorua, and Zoroark outbreaks don’t have a notification for them when you enter the outbreak area. You just have to knock out every Pokémon in the area and count however many outbreak mons your Pokémon has knocked out

Yes. Definitely.
The very first ditto I ever saw transformed was a HUGE electrode rolling around outside of Medali. That leads me to believe that they are set to transform into the largest possible. It almost looked like a PLA alpha
Yeah this info will help me out a lot. Hoping to find a ditto outbreak in the future and it will be easier knowing what to look for.
No, I found a midsize Deerling Ditto, but maybe there's a higher chance for larger?

The first time I made it to Medali, I saw a humongous Electrode and was thinking there was no way modern day Electrode are that large. I targeted it, and of course it was a Ditto.
An interesting trick i saw someone use on a stream for catching Ditto was to have a Zorua as your lead pokemon, when it enters battle it will be disguised as another pokemon in your party, Ditto will attempt to Transform into that disguise but will fail.
i've been using this to farm Dittos for Surprise trades, gotta help people with those Masuda shinies

You know you can just ZL target them and the name of the Ditto appears above the pokemon
@@cursedGalataea That has nothing to do with what this person is talking about. They are talking about bypassing ditto's ability so that they are easier to capture.

Getting dittos for surprise trades is a wonderful idea, and I think I’m going to do that as well. I’ll probably do all the trades on Christmas as gifts for people :)
Same thing happens for Zorua. I was looking for one for a living dex and there was a non-shiny Deerling it was disguised as. Encountered it just for the dex and saw the sparkles and was like wtf, then there it was, blue Zorua.
I like zorua. It turns purple and looks nice.
@@SirHoney616 zorua (the smaller one is blue) when it Evolves into zoroark it looks purple. But the hissuian form is the most glorious shiny form of all for zoroark hands down! All those wavy locks of hair! Too good of a design.!

This Ditto was the most painful hunt for me. Took over 2000+ encounters. Things I've learned from hunting it in this exact spot:
* Ditto does not appear as shiny in its disguise
* This particular spot can cause glitches in auto-battle where your Pokemon won't attack, but the Ditto isn't shiny either
* This area starts to lag after a while
* If your Pokemon starts not having an animation when you start an auto-battle, the game is close to crashing. Save and reset.
* Using a normal sparkling sandwich here will only spawn Ditto/Meowth

Another way of telling which Meowth is a Ditto is how Meowths are typically more curious as you approach, with a question mark appearing over their heads before they run at you. Dittos disguised as Meowth will ignore you.
This can also apply to Voltorbs and Electrodes as well, Dittos won’t try to Self-Destruct.
Another way of telling is centered Pokémon in group encounters appearing on their own, like Dachsbun and Mabostiff. This can also apply to Zorua and Zoroark.
I got a Zorua or a Ditto , can't remenber which, this way. A Parsimian at the Slideshow Thicket didn't go full agro on me and just ignored me. I found this so odd I had to check wtf was up with that guy xD
One thing I noticed was Sudowoodoo will run away pretty quickly and leave a trail of dust, but Ditto/Zorua run pretty slowly.
Hi. I noticed on my game a ditto never has the green question mark above its head when you walk by. It's an easier way to look then zl.
I was hunting for the water Tauros, found 3 on their own and was immensely disappointed it was a Ditto in disguise
I've noticed some things myself hunting for a Zorua
- Fake Sudowoodo walk around normally and put their hands up when spotted, Real Sudowoodo have their hands up and run away when spotted
- Aggressive Pokemon like Primeape or Spidops will not attack if they're disguised
- Disguised Foongus will run away
- Mabosstiff and Greedent will spawn without company
- Pokemon that can fly like Scyther will not fly if they're disguised
I noticed right away when looking for my Ditto. Its behavior is very different than what any Pokémon it is trying to mimic. It was a very fun way to spot it.
Something I noticed when messing with wild Ditto’s, if you throw out GholdenGo, Ditto’s transform move will fail because of the Good as Gold ability

That weird thing where reloading the save makes the shiny disappear happened to me with a Swablu, auto save was off and i almost had an heart attack, reloaded again mostly out of paranoia and there it was, the little gold birb, looking at me like she didn't almost kill me 😅
same thing happened to me with a rookidee. named it casper in honor after i reloaded again and thanked god it was back again. weirdest thing was that even though he was invisible sending out my let’s go pokemon was able to locate it with the little sweating notification
Same here with a Sableye, I started going into panic mode being like “I thought this would work, how did I mess up??”
Lucky, I parked at a Swablu outbreak for like 3 in-game days and nothing
happened to me in a Pawmi outbreak too; my current assumption is that it was because my sandwich buff had worn off and there were so many of them in the area. like maybe the shiny flag got a lower priority because of that or something? 🤷🏻♂️
I just assumed it the game ran into the max amount of pokemon spawns around you and despawned/hid stuff on the load. I noticed the same "despawn" trying to beast ball capture a Dreepy. Some of the 4 Dreepy around him including the shiny would take turns not showing up.

@@Hallow6262 I know I was able to catch one last night in the woods just south of medali. So you can fly to the west end medali Pokémon center and make your picnic there and you should be good
@@Hallow6262 yup! West Province (Area Three) by Medali. Make sure you’re across the street in the grass. During the day it’ll be disguised as a few different things. At night Murkrow is included in that.
Use Dark type sandwich and ALL spawns will be Zorua during the day disguised as Masboschief (heartbreaking to KO so many of them 😂) - at night it’ll be Masboschief and murkrow.
Additionally it can be found in the Tagtree Thicket. Mainly northeast side of it.
If you use dark type sandwich you’ll get Zorua and Impidimp. I found like 3 shiny Impidimp and no Zorua here 😂

For the record you can know if it's a crit capture while it's flying in the air. A normal capture will move straight at the pokemon, kind of like a dark. A critical capture will zig zag in the air while moving towards the pokemon. Hope this makes sense.

Its the same for Zorua, i tried to get shiny impidimp and used a dark type sandwich(idk why). I accidentally ran into a pink impidimp and it turned into a shiny zorua. My favorite shiny so I feel lucky

This exact same counts for Zorua. Got one by complete accident when completing the dex. No shiny transformed sprite, but shiny sparkles.
A shiny meowth is the only shiny I've gotten so far, I didn't even know it was shiny but I saw it, decided I needed to catch a meowth for pokedex, and got excited when I realized it was shiny.
Love your content so much! Thank you for another informative video, just wanted to ask if you were thinking of making a video explaining marks and ribbons. My garchomp got the partner mark and I was wondering why my other Pokémon didn’t when I’ve had them on my team longer.

Gerudo valley as the battle music is everything I didn't know I needed
I've noticed the size difference in my hunts too. It also helped that the first six I found were stand alone fire Taurus haha
If you reload a save and the weather conditions change, the spawns do as well. So reload again and if you can’t get it again. Go into settings and reset the time to when you encountered it.
Btw breloom is one of the only Pokémon that can learn false swipe and spore, so it’s really good for filling out the pokedex

Love the videos! I’m sure you already know but Breloom is great as it can naturally learn spore and can also learn false swipe via TM, will save you wasting a turn to swap into amoongus
About the critical captures, if you throw a PokeBall to a Pokémon you already have registered in your Pokedex, if the capture is successful, the animation will be that of a critical capture, doesn't mean it's a critical, the calculations are normal, it's just the animation.
From this all the information you can get is that if the animation isn't the one of a critical, and you previously caught one of that species, the Pokémon will break free.
You can tell critical captures by the throw; the tail on the ball's path starts farther back behind the character and does an extra little arc
I think I saw a video on twitter where someone had the same thing vs shiny Zorua/Zoroark. Looked like a non=shiny whatever it was and let's go mode saved the day again!
I didn't know you could just detransform ditto and Zorua from saving and reloading. That's actually really good to know for Zorua shiny hunting

This man is lookin like me last night outbreak hunting shiny Eiscue. I was on the north coast outside the fairy star base and I found two random shiny buisels in pack spawns. I also despawned a shiny Eiscue because it spawned just beyond my camera. I looked back only to watch it disappear forever. But I still found two pink Eiscue, but amazingly it was after my sparkling power ice ran out. I do not have the shiny charm. My luck was everywhere
u can also tell if it’s a ditto by if the pokémon it’s transformed into normally reacts to u or not. for example meowth gets a question mark above its head when you pass by but a ditto transformed into a meowth doesn’t get that question mark. same for pokemon that will normally run to attack you, ditto won’t chase you
My favorite is that a Ditto disguised as a Cyclizar likes to lope around slowly instead of running around at top speed.

I actually just accidentally encountered a shiny Zorua last night on accident. It was a non shiny Applin which I accidentally ran into, which then shined and had me confused. Then became the shiny Zorua. Interesting!
Even though this video is about Ditto I want to congratulate you for the shiny Tandemaus. I am still waiting on mine and try to get it by breeding. So far no luck, but I'm just around 150 eggs in, so I'm stil motivated.
I've seen clips that also hold the same results for Zoroa. I think the harder part is disguised pokemon like Ditto, not showing as Shiny on the overworld. Certainly a hunt I want to try at some point if I can get an outbreak.

Definitely the way it walks. My first Ditto was a walking Cyclizar. I thought it was very very weird.
The same can be said for a shiny Zorua really. I've hunted it outside of Medali and it was in the form of Mabosstiff, Honchkrow, Persain. It would also take the form of their first forms but mostly the final evos.
Zoruas in disguise are also quite a bit larger than their "real" forms, awesome video Austin!

When doing the outbreak method, is it faster to do your 60, save, clear the outbreak, and then reset if you don't get it? Or get the 60 and despawn the Pokes by leaving the area/picnic? I've been despawning and respawning them as you would do in the encounter method and it seems to work, and it doesn't end the outbreak at any time.

When you stopped on the master ball at the end my anxiety started going through the roof lol.
Is the knockout chain for shiny odds stackable for multiple pokemon? Like how Austin was able to do both meowth and ditto at the same time?
literally yesterday i had a ditto outbreak in a similar spot only mine was in the grass area between the lighthouse and the trees and upon killing off hundreds of ditto that happened to spawn, apparently none counted to the outbreak, meaning i had a glitched outbreak that never actually activated. its funny to note that we came up with the same strategy and conclusioons, i did notice the dittos spawn at the max size or i was just thinking iits the default size
Hey Austin thanks for the vid! it helped a lot. another thing related to ditto and I don't know if you or anyone else has noticed this yet, but while hunting for a shiny ditto I stumbled uppon somthing. When I beat a transformed ditto in battle they seem to drop the item usually dropped by whatever it is they are now, example: when I beat a wild ditto transformed into my Banette it dropped Shuppet scraps. not sure if this info is out there, just wanted to let you and others know!

This is also true for zorua if it's shiny and transformed you can't tell untill it's revealed I found one while shiny hunting a maschiff

1) I know you said In your breeding video that you can't be bothered to battle Pokemon to EV train but what about for those who can be bothered to do so or don't always have several hundred thousand Pokedollars to drop on vitamins? What Pokemon would you recommend battling for EV's?
2) Does auto battle give EV's?
3) How would you go about shiny hunting Eelektross or It's pre-evolutions If I don't want to do eggs?

I use kingambit, breloom, gallade, and zangoose for catchijg pokemon. Zangoose is really cool because it has access to switcheroo[gallade does too, i believe] which, when you use it when that pokemon holds a ring target, makes you able to hit ghosts with false swipe.
This is eapecially nice given that pangoro, who was my goto in swsh since it has scrappy and false swipe
Hey @AustinJohn, do you know why (is it a bug) that a Ditto Mass Outbreak isnt appearing..Even away from towns with a spawner. Is it something strange since i havent completed the Dex?

Something else that might help is if you want to find a Pokémon like zoroark in the north west part (above where you fight the Titan tatsugiri and dondozo) if you see a stray sawsbuck that’s a zoroark, cuz sawsbuck doesn’t spawn solo, that and zoroark and ditto, when they notice you they won’t do the Pokémon’s cry and will just ignore you, while zorua runs away no matter what Pokémon it is
I did not realize ditto spawned here before your video. So, I was just hunting dittos in this area and found a shiny! I do have the shiny charm but wasn't using a sandwich so that was an unexpected surprise. Thank you!
I was hunting disguised dittos last night. And i noticed, zorua and ditto sometimes (rarely) spawned as a pokemon that shouldn't be in the zone.
For 90% of people they will get the bug where ditto mass outbreaks don't actually spawn when you get to the outbreak area witch happened to me multiple times so I just used normal encounter 3 with sparkling 3 and did it the hard way but got it after a few hours 😁
