I feel like 2042's theme is really good for its setting, like its supposed to sounds eerie and broken. But there was NO fuckin story to show us how broken the world is in 2042 for that theme song to carry any weight to it.
This doesn't sound eerie at all. This sounds ONLY like broken crap and uninspired hodgepodge of stuff jumbled together to make a theme with small elements of the BF theme we know.
I think the rusty sound is purposeful, the instruments that sound broken are trumpets and other brass instruments that are often played during marches celebrating the glory of a nation. Since countries are crumbling in 2042, it fits with the theme
They literally have a better 2042 theme, but it's only used for the launch trailer that only exists on the steam page. The official one feels lile it's just gone overboard with the glitch effects or smth, the instruments sound....just unsure of what it wants to be.

Only trouble is, the game itself is goofy, full of cringy one-liners and ridiculous skins. So it just doesn’t make any sense to have this kind of soundtrack, it just sounds bad for no good reason.
@@ArkayeCh I disagree, you’re not really suppose to listen to theme constantly so you can keep the magic when it’s plays in game and this theme really sets the mood that the game was trying to go for before the Goofy stuff was added. You think a war so bad that the world is on the brink of collapse would have an epic theme like a ww2 game about the bravery of soldiers. 2042 may not be the best but it is unique which puts at the top. I love the battlefield 4 theme but the base those start to hurt your ears after a while and the weird broken flute noise in this has the same problem.

I'm not the biggest fan of BF5 because of the feel (movement ect) But I can't lie, the music slaps and at least it has that Bf2042.... I mean... It's not the worst thing I've ever heard...

It still is lol. They got content updates since release so I heard it's better now. But it didn't fix how busted the class/hero system was. On release, it was terrible and the beta test was worse.
Tried it and there were latency issues all over the place, everyone was stopped going, stopping going despite my good internet connection *And this was in just 37 minutes of installing the game*

It's definitely an interesting soundtrack. Maybe not for listening constantly. I imagine this better as a standout intro track for a campaign/mission.
