Treating raw wooden floors the Finnish way

Slow progress on the living room makeover. Spent almost a week sanding the floor down and now it's time to give it a protective treatment so I can enjoy the raw wood finish. Starting to plan the furniture and decor although I can't make up my mind about any of it.

I need to learn how Finns finish wood floors. I am allergic to chemicals and dust So I am looking forward to better options than are popular in the US- So bright!

Ah, a Finnish finish! (Audience groans)
Oil and wax finishes are certainly more environmentally friendly. Yay!
The bulk of what I see is polyurethan and aluminum oxide.

I hope you were able to get the knees of your jeans clean, afterwards... Or perhaps they become a part of your "work clothes" collection after this... 😃 This was a new way of treating floors, to me. I remember my father rubbing our floors with some kind of wax. He never wanted anything to have a polyurethane finish (thank goodness!)

The flooring looks great, I'm not sure what the advantage of using the soap treatment rather than oil. A lighter finish?

Can't honestly say what the difference is, if any, when it comes to durability between oil and soap, but to my understanding the soap hardens the wood with every wash. I would say it's at least a big win to get the floors cleaned and protected in one treatment.
