    Massaging the croup for few minutes every couple of hours makes a big difference it helps to get the food moving out of the crop as well as the cider vinegar, electrolytes and probiotic .
    Beautiful coup BTW ,couldn’t never eat my chickens ,being a bit of sensitive woman I can’t even bring myself to eat it anymore ,good job I don’t raise cattle or sheep 😂.

    I recently had an ill chicken. She was puffed up and clearly suffering so I brought her inside to keep her under watch. I poked around a bit checking for being egg bound, or sour crop but eventually surmised it to be vent gleet. I bathed her in epsom salt and warm water daily for 3 days, She was only drinking water, not eating, ( which was fine), She perked up a little, surprisingly, as I was resigned to the fact she might not make it, so I put her back outside. She was happier with the other chicken ( I have only two backyard chickens You can see them on y channel shorts), so I started feeding them greek yoghurt daily and now she is back to normal. The yoghurt got rid of the yeast overgrowth. Great stuff for many ailments. Great video, very informative.

    I have a hen that has had sour crop off and on for about a year now. She wears a crop bra everyday and i give her 1/2 a tablet of monistat 7, 2 days in a row once a month or so. She doesn't lay eggs and is definitely the lowest on the pecking order... But she is just the sweetest hen that walks with me through the garden, talking my ear off. She's never destructive in the garden and even though shes kind of a burden i still love her!

      That's wonderful! Ours lived for about another year or so after her first bout with sour crop, but we unfortunately lost her last summer.

    Can I feed my chickens with apples, loquats, etc.?

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld  Год назад

      Yes! Just remove the seeds from fruits before feeding to be safe. Some fruit seeds (like loquats) can be toxic to the birds, but the fruit is fine. There are a few birds that sometimes have an issue with processing fruit sugars in larger amounts, so just start off giving them small amounts and see how they do.

    I do have One small 3 year old bantam cochin that acts like she can't walk well on left foot but she eats ok and likes to sit in a tire etc alone. Giving her some Meloxicam vet sold me for another hen.

      May just be an injury from jumping off a roost. One of mine did that one time. Limped around a bit for a day or two and then one was fine. Always good to double check for bumble foot too.

    I empty my Henny that’s got sour crop pretty bad😞 we have a huge flock and she was one always hiding . I’ve got her inside where she can come and go from her good hay bed in a kennel. I’ve got her a perimeter set up but it’s ample. I empty her crop several times within 24 hours. She’s weak and malnourished but still walking around some . Idk what else to do. I’ve added fresh minced garlic to her waters too. Poor thing I even offered a tiny bit of Greek yogurt but not interested. Any tips ?

      You could add electrolytes and vitamins to the water, but if she isn't drinking and eating on her own, you most likely will need to syringe feed her. With a small cc syringe you can feed her water that has the vitamin mix in it, or yogurt mixed with water so it is thin enough.

    Hi, have any of your hens with crop issues ever had diarrhea also?

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld  Год назад

      Not that I recall. Although sometimes diarrhea can be a symptom (or side product) of sour crop.

    I have a chicken very skinny and crop will not empty. Its all liquid not hard im assuming a yeast blockage

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld  2 года назад +1

      You can try separating her out and removing all food and water for her for 24 hours to see if the crop empties. If it does, then try some probiotics in liquid, or even plain greek yogurt if she'll eat on her own to help kill the yeast bloom. If you've already done these things, you can try helping her empty the crop (there are youtube videos on this). It doesn't always work, but may help. Ours that had it made it through the first time, but several months later got it again and did not make it. I wish you the best of luck and health for your chicken.
