    Truly enjoyed your video! I have tried to tell many of my gardening friends that wasps and Yellow Jackets are actually beneficial to a garden, nature's pest control. They have never bothered me as long as I don't become a threat to them by as you said wrecking their nest or trying to swat them. They pretty much leave me alone as I do with them. You are right , when they are away from their nest they really don't bother you unless you provoke them.

    I bought a natural green producing breed of cotton. Planted the seedling into a 5 gal bucket with sandy, heavily composted soil. It loved it. I moved the bucket late in the summer: discovered it had a tap root that got snapped in the move. It survived that. It produced bolls. I have brought it into the house for the winter (western NY) to see if I can keep it and put it back out next year. Cotton gets to be small trees down in the deep south. Will also be attempting to sprout the seeds from this plant.

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 14 дней назад

      Sorry about the delayed response, I missed this comment! I didn't really pay attention with the one I had on whether the spines were longer at first. In doing some more research, it will also depend on the variety of the Datura plant. I did find this info from the Wisconsin Horticulture Extension website: "Flowers are followed by rounded fruits that are walnut-sized capsules that are knobby (D. metel) or covered with sharp and spiky spines at maturity (D. inoxia and D. stramonium)." So based on that, I would say that some varieties don't have the spines at all while others do (the one in my yard was D. Stramonium I believe), and the spines may larger as the pod gets closer to maturity.

    Thanks for this informative video! Our maple tree hasn't started putting on its fall colors yet, but several random branches bore leaves that turned bright red and shed during the middle of summer. There are still a few branches with bright red leaves on them but the rest of the tree doesn't look like it's getting ready for fall. Can this be a symptom of verticillium wilt?

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld Месяц назад

      Not in my experience. Generally, the leaves will just turn brown and fall off. My maple also stopped putting off leaves for the most part on the branches that were severely affected, and instead just produced the little "helicopter" seed pods as the tree was trying keep its species going before dying off. It eventually got to the point where one whole side of my tree was was pretty much all helicopters and no leaves. We had the tree taken down this past spring and replaced it with a Japanese Zeldova which isn't susceptible to verticillium wilt.
