Reason of crash for those wondering: she held that front brake all the way down so the front wheel locked up and she lost traction and crashed. Sometimes you just gotta let just of the brakes no matter what because a lot of times it’s actually safer.
You can see the rear wheel locking she seems to be applying rear brake she just landed at a hard angle. She needed more room and more skill to reposition her bike and land on both wheels.
That's not the only issue: her weight was too far over the rear wheel, meaning she had very little control over the front. If you look closely towards the end of the feature, you can see 2 things happen: 1) the rear wheel pops up halfway down, and 2) the front wheel slips out from under her. Locking the rear wheel doesn't matter as much, just keep on the rear brake because it will keep pressure on the front and maintain steering control. At the top, keep your weight centered, lower yourself before the roll so you can push into it and automatically get into a position to absorb the bottom of it, then at the bottom of it, let your arms and legs compress and because you kept your weight centered and the back brake on, you will roll out of it rather than slide out in the middle of a compression.
That is exactly what didn’t happen lol, the drop was so steep you have to lift ur front wheel up instead of just riding straight down out has nothing to do with the front brake but she just needed more speed and more momentum with that front wheel
Always put your weight on the pedals and keep the wheels on the ground. Well maybe she already knows what to do, occasional crashes on new obstacles are pretty common. But that drop is really a confidence breaker. Good luck on your next try!😊
Седло опускай ниже, чтобы не мешало отклониться максимально назад, тормози больше задним колесом, одевай полную экипировку, включая защиту коленей, локтей и спины
from doing the same thing recently these drops basically require you to send it at the very least no brakes once you are over the edge you can see how the front tire locked up glad everyone is safe!
She needed to lean forward and get the weight off the rear wheel on the transition, you can see her legs are crouched and all her weight is into the rear wheel which sends her flying.
@@LucasMillerMTB She didn't need to lean in. You can see the front wheel was rolling in. What she needed to do was come into with speed and at the center of gravity.
@@ChrisMiranda-zm1rwThis, the front breaks had the forks completely compressed. Her body position compressed the rear. As soon as she hit the transition that back rebounded and the front remained compressed. She's actually lucky that it didn't throw her further forward when it kicked up. Legit could have landed face/neck first and there's no helmet that can protect from that.
She was trying to ride the face. She should have approached faster and pulled up into a drop but she shouldn't have been trying that face to begin with. She walked herself into that one.
My step father taught me a valuable lesson when i was first learning how to drive. "First you get good, then you can get fast." And that sage advice has prevented me from many accidents like this. Glad to see you sit up right away, that was brutal.
You don't have to try to go fast, as we get more competent with the execution of something we start to be more careless and confident and we drive faster without even noticing it First we have to learn to control the car and then we have to learn to control ourselves, our impulses, to make sure we're not a danger to us and others
Brah she held the brakes right up to the point where you really need the brakes the most. Her center of gravity was still on top of the lip when she let it ride so she just coasted away from the slope. Tapping the front brake at that point was icing on the cake. Hopefully she is ok. I almost hurt myself doing something similar by accident but got lucky after floating I landed square.
She let go of the rear break too soon. She needed to ease into it. It's the same when going down a half pipe. You either jump into it or slowly let your back go off the edge
😂 Yeah, but my first time going on a tabletop that was said a rookie on a cheap bike couldn't make it I went into FULL send mode and completely over shot the entire jump! 😵💫
Which is why I always tell people it's best to start as an impulsive teenager. Once you're an adult with proper risk assessment skills, it's much harder 😂
every dummy commending her bravery but its also stupid, she could have been paralyzed, severe head injury, brain bleed, vertebral fracture, helmet or not..that is not to say she did not cause some serious injury to her spine that wont show till a few years later.
she was doing pretty good.. not sure why she crashed… it was a tough feature… its like between a drop and a send… maybe hand strength and going slower on the send. She was supposed to lift the wheel a bit before impact like almost when doing a drop to land more horizontally
Start with small hills first. She seemed way too scared to attempt that. Fear can be the biggest obstacle in that situation. You can tell if she just went smooth it would've been safer, constantly braking is what did her in. She didn't hug the road enough to ride it down, and she didn't really jump it, just did something in between and fell on her front tire. Hopefully, she's not hurt too bad and was able to get it eventually.
youre acting like she is some amateur, she clearly is very skilled, her stance is good, balance is good, good breaking. She just didn't know how to deal with the G out at the bottom of the rock. They are very very hard obstacles to do and that one was really big. She did hesitate too much though, she should have waited a little bit until she was more confident, and maybe watched someone do it.
Say what you want but I give her props for even trying this. There's no way I would've. Cause this is exactly what I imagine every time I encounter a feature like this.
@@MrZombie3 that drop is incredibly steep and tall, if she went fast she would have got air time and landed incredibly hard to flat. you actually have to go slow and make sure the rear wheel doesn’t gain more horizontal speed than the front wheel.
@@alol441 Not on this one. Once over the lip, the front brakes are doing nothing thus as the bike accelerates the rear will pick up momentum & rotate the bike forward. The correct way to is approach with mild speed and lift the front wheel as it goes over the lip almost like a manual.
Wow! She is brave and much respect. I would wear full protective gear and a full helmet until I get the hang of it. Yeah, never pull the front break going down hill or your back wheel will get air.
I’ve seen that feature in person and it’s gnarly. You have to creep to the edge, mostly front brake, stay centered, chin over the stem. She had plenty of skill, just got a little nose heavy and stuffed her front wheel. That definitely hurt, maybe a broken collar bone though.
Exactly I don't get people encouraging attempts like that without the skills to do it. She could have practiced on a smaller similar feature and not take the risk of breaking her spine.
@@austin2890 Wrong! If you tried one of these chutes you'd know that's the not how it works. She simply didn't let the bike "flow" enough underneath her, she was too rigid while hanging at the back
My advice is to not let off the brakes completely, especially not that early. What I would’ve done in that situation is let go of the front brake to avoid going over the handle bars, but to lightly keep on the back brakes to control your speed so you don’t get air and do things like that.
Experienced MTB rider here, the problem is that she hit her brakes at all, that drop is a full send or nothing. Hesitation and bad vibes are what cause wrecks like these.
Not a MTBiker here, genuine question, couldn't she have ridden down the slope keeping her weight back and taking it slow over the edge? @@HighguyMcfly

She dove forward as soon as the front wheel rolled over, that’s a tricky tech spot looks like. A lil less front brake modulation, and a slight tail whip to better align the landing and she got it💪🏿
It is hard to show on camera how steep a slope is. Here is no confusion. The thing is totally vertical. If it was slightly higher, that would count as suicide attempt.

from doing the same thing recently these drops basically require you to send it at the very least no brakes once you are over the edge you can see how the front tire locked up glad everyone is safe!
He should have guided her better. Never use your front wheel brakes when descending a steep hill. Mountain biking 101
She was trying to ride the face. She should have approached faster and pulled up into a drop but she shouldn't have been trying that face to begin with. She walked herself into that one.

She needs a better friend. Everyone starts somewhere.

Thanks for cheering me up Scarlet! Let's go girls!
My step father taught me a valuable lesson when i was first learning how to drive. "First you get good, then you can get fast." And that sage advice has prevented me from many accidents like this.
Glad to see you sit up right away, that was brutal.
That's so sawy good lesson
You don't have to try to go fast,
as we get more competent with the execution of something we start to be more careless and confident and we drive faster without even noticing it
First we have to learn to control the car and then we have to learn to control ourselves, our impulses, to make sure we're not a danger to us and others
@@I24FFA Yep, that is the longer version of his advice. I apply this to literally every skill based hobby I partake in.

What do you think?
The stop and go before dropping is what messed you up. Slow down gradually before rolling in and shift your center of mass back more
Confidence is key when you're starting out. If you're gonna send it send it.
Totally agreed, need more practice and confidence
😂 Yeah, but my first time going on a tabletop that was said a rookie on a cheap bike couldn't make it I went into FULL send mode and completely over shot the entire jump! 😵💫
Which is why I always tell people it's best to start as an impulsive teenager. Once you're an adult with proper risk assessment skills, it's much harder 😂

Its just dumb to do it she should have trained more so she had more confidence and practice
I think it matters just a little bit that she didn't make it.. 😂
So you mean she landed it just a bit sloppy?

Bro what? You can see the back wheel come off the ground. Too much speed.
she was doing pretty good.. not sure why she crashed… it was a tough feature… its like between a drop and a send… maybe hand strength and going slower on the send. She was supposed to lift the wheel a bit before impact like almost when doing a drop to land more horizontally

Drop looks steep as hell, props to her for going through with it. Hope she's okay.

I tell my kids, whenever you commit to a feature, hand off the front brake!
That’s so true 🙏🏼
@@zerounobikes why are you agreeing, the crash happened because she let go front brakes too early and the rear got too much momentum
@@alol441it wouldn't happened if she doesnt go that slow especially right before a drop
Well said brother! Appreciate your comment
Dude it was a straight drop. No way to land that no matter what brakes you use
I’ve seen that feature in person and it’s gnarly. You have to creep to the edge, mostly front brake, stay centered, chin over the stem. She had plenty of skill, just got a little nose heavy and stuffed her front wheel. That definitely hurt, maybe a broken collar bone though.
She’s fearless. If she didn’t touched the front brake after descending I think she would cleared it. Mad props.
i dont think she touched the front brake, her balance was not good after creeping over slowly and pointing the front wheel down on a bad line.

Yup definitely needs a friend not a douche bag to tell her whatever you do don’t touch the front brake
It's all about practice and confidence
wrong front brake is everything . shows how little you know downhill
Her problem was clearly that she didn't put enough weight on the back wheel. No amount of friendship could put more weight on that wheel.
Not true, she picked the wrong line that’s all.
@@austin2890 Wrong! If you tried one of these chutes you'd know that's the not how it works. She simply didn't let the bike "flow" enough underneath her, she was too rigid while hanging at the back
Oh boy, thats painful. Sometimes braking hurts more than just rolling it. Did you grab the front brake halfway down?
My advice is to not let off the brakes completely, especially not that early. What I would’ve done in that situation is let go of the front brake to avoid going over the handle bars, but to lightly keep on the back brakes to control your speed so you don’t get air and do things like that.
