The Ultimates 1 & 2 are quite literally the only comic books which I could imagine being directly adapted to the big screen with zero changes and it’d still be an entertaining watch. Hitch and Millar really nailed how cinematic and blockbuster-y those comics felt… though, admittedly, a few parts haven’t aged well. Then there’s Ultimates 3…. Which ruined it all and didn’t understand why people liked the original 2 Ultimates books.
One of the best scenes I’ve ever seen in a comic is when they’ve got Thor surrounded in the forest and NO ONE is quite certain if he’s the real deal or insane and Iron Man just says, “Thor, for Christ’s sake…”
My God I wished this video had timestamps, I have a good attention span. But this Ultimates original run bored me to death, I remember as if it was yesterday in my local comicstore, How unimpressed I was, I still remember picking up savage dragon issues, maverick comics and deadpool and predator comics, When I flicked through a few issues of the ultimates. Compared to what I just picked up which included XMEN comics too. The Ultimates was a yawn worthy and just never popped. Many comic nerds like me was just over it, It reminded of the hype for the spider man clone saga, which even though it was overall mediocre it was still better than the ultimates. Even in 2024 The Ultimates leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I appreciate you giving us this video, I'm subcribed and look forward to your other videos except this yawnfest. I saw this as unoriginal, lazy and a complete waste of time.
Can you explained to me how it was lazy? Because around the time these books came out. They were holding most of the top selling spots over the things in main marvel. For me the early days of Ultimate Marvel were amazing. Until Jeph Loeb took over. You see for me lazy work would be like Weird War III, or parts of the clone saga. For example there’s a story arc where it’s just Mysterio pulling an insurance scam. Ultimate Spider-Man was loved more than main marvel Peter Parker. Just want to hear your opinions
2nd! Thank you fresh. And i like the ultimate universe
