No Elijah did love him but he saw how jealous Klaus was with them being so close he distanced himself from Marcel so that Klaus wouldn't kick off.
He distanced himself for Klaus’ sake. He loved Marcel. The problem with the Mikaelsons is that their first move is never to be open with their feelings and intentions. When Marcel was a boy he could have said hey i like spending time with you but I think Klaus is feeling left out and missing your companionship.

Elijah distances himself from Kol in the same way too.There was a flashback scene where Marcel was remembering why he despises Kol so much (for Davina), saying Kol is the most wild and dysfunctional Mikealson. Kol killed these random people Elijah had compelled as actors to teach Marcel some Shakespearean play, and casually eats them. Then, Elijah just blows Marcel off, and just acts like he's a complete child, which Marcel was. Elijah did love Marcel, but saw him more as a nuisance, or a child, almost like a toy. He was mean, and Marcel distinctly remembered it.
Elijah low-key did the same exact to Kol. He loved Kol, and also felt bad that he violently died, just like Marcel, but he was always closest to the Original three = Klaus and Rebekah. He felt bad when Kol was dead, but he didn't work to bring him back. He was rational, and not torn up about it. And with Finn, he just didn't care about him. Elijah was as brutal as Klaus.
If you think about it, it makes sense. Mikeal beat Klaus as a child, and Esther mother forced them to turn into vampires. Their maternal aunt Dahlia had recently tried kill them. Elijah may have loved his family, but he still killed some of them in Tvd. He killed some of his family, which is a very Mikealson thing to do. That makes Marcel family, that he too has been "daggered" and betrayed by family members like that.
Many episodes too late for Elijah to say that he hasnt forgiven himself.
emy ; I don't think it's too late. In fact I think that him killing Marcel is the reason why he is acting out like this. The reason he is not being the Elijah we know and love. Killing Marcel hurt him he cried when he went to Hayley and said he took Marcel's life. "I certainly haven't forgiven myself" are such powerful words said by Elijah. I think him killing Marcel killed him, and now we got to see inside his head(next week or so) and I hope Marcel's death is another "red door". Maybe I'm using the red door bit wrong. I mean I hope Elijah is so tourted by this death that he hates himself.

But you can’t think that bringing a German sports car worth millions to a local bar wearing a 9,000 dollar suit is keeping a low profile. So Elijah decided to be sarcastic and say “Good thing we brought the German Sports Car”

For those who are not truly paying attention... 1 this was Elijah’s one time to look marcel in the eyes and apologize.
2 Marcel was never going to kill his surrogate father and uncle he wanted them to understand what hate sounded like what fear looked like and what being powerless was for the first time. He had already drank the potion so ripping out hearts and breaking sculls would have been easy for him. He chose to meet his family for one last time to test them and to hopefully fail so he could still retain what he thought he had... a family... then Elijah got nervous and tore out his heart. He wanted them to keep him safe instead Elijah did what he always did best and protected klause. Just like when klause got jealous of Marcel’s and Elijah’s relationship back when he was a child.. you need reference look up Marcel’s conversation with Elijah and listen to him say you were never really good with children... A reference to how even when I was innocent and helpless you never chose me type situation 🤷🏾♂️
Marcel point blank says things like, "Maybe it's time somebody put an end to that." (Regarding the Mikaelson's having all the power) "You will never be safe, as long as I'm alive." "I am done being your friend. From this day forward, I am nothing less than your worst enemy." Seriously, what did Marcel think was going to happen when he's sitting there threatening them? Then in typical Marcel fashion, he later says he pretended he hadn't taken the serum to see how they would react. He stands there and spells it out for them. If he takes the serum, he will kill them. Stop pretending that Marcel wasn't threatening their whole family while he was on that bridge. Elijah had no choice and ANY in that situation would have done the same thing.
Agreed, they literally created everything they feared. Marcel was trying to make a point, and succeeded. Everything that happened to that family after they sacrificed Davina and attempted to kill Marcel, was deserved.

Elijah disappointed me dramatically when he killed Marcel. Marcel grew up with them they raised him took him in he was loyal and stayed by their side looked at them as family and Elijah did what he did of course he hasn't forgiven himself why would he. @@maverick608 The fact that Klaus saved Marcel before he got his heart ripped out, and even after that, should humble Marcel. Marcel couldn’t have gone after Hope and Hayley even if he wanted to. And if he did attempt to do that, The Mikaelsons would’ve found a way to end him for good once they rescued Klaus and get off the radar.

Watch S01 again. Watch Marcel DISRUPT peace because...feelings and bring Papa Tunde (killing witches, wolves, and pretty much anyone who opposed him) and Mikael (almost killed Marcel, the entire Mikaelson family, and burned the entire city to ground) - then he cleans up his own mess and every one praises his bitch ass for it. HE MADE THE MESS. He jams himself into Witch business (which Sophie told him about earlier and he didn't give a fuck) in a ritual where they never intended for the girls to stay dead, then oppresses all of them, in response - they bring the Mikaelsons and he's completely baffled as to why he has these problems. They came to town because HE had a conflict with the witches. AND he ended up having to complete the ritual anyway. How many kids died because of everything he's done? He doesn't care about anything as he can King of NOLA. He only wants peace and safety when he can be the arbiter of that peace and he can lord over everyone. When he isn't, all bets are off and he doesn't give a fuck. Marcel has an identical ridiculous hero aura as Hayley.
Let's not forget leading his army to storm the compound to kill Genevieve and destroy a book (cause technology doesn't exist nor is the possibility of them copying anything or taking a picture) with no weapon to kill or incapacitate an Original. This AFTER Klaus wrecked his whole army all himself earlier. Marcel is a propped up dumb ass just like Hayley.
1. Who cares if Davina is Kol's girlfriend? Why would you let your brother (Klaus), your sister (Rebekah), and Hayley (Baby mama the worship) die for Davina? Davina is NO WAY equivalent. That's an absurd comparison.
2. I liked Davina but, I'm not going to turn her into an angel to fit a bullshit narrative. Davina killed people as well. She set up Kara to die and ended up killing 12 people. Davina was helping Marcel oppress every single witch - including ones who had nothing to with the sacrifice. A sacrifice that they never intended on them staying dead. AND Marcel's dumb ass had to complete the ritual anyway. She deserved what she got and she admitted it. I'm not the fan-boy with a selective memory. I can like characters and admit they are wrong - like Davina. Marcel apologists are pissed about her death because their favorite macho man is sad. Too bad. Boo hoo. You don't like it. Oh well.
3. Whatever the Mikaelsons have done, it just not justify what Davina does. One persons actions does not validate another person's actions. Whoever, Klaus killed does not mean it was OK to oppress the entire coven and set up assassination attempts. This is the same mentality that Hayley fans have. It makes no fucking sense with or you. You can not judge Klaus by one standard and Davina by another. They are both bad.
4. Did you just erase all of S01 from your mind? Rebekah told him about Mikael and they decided to call him to town after his dumb ass plan with Papa Tunde didn't work. I have no idea what show you're watching. Maybe Marcel's hero aura and man tears overwhelmed you.
5. Again, you need to go back and watch S01 AGAIN. There was peace in the city because Klaus and Elijah negotiated with the factions and Marcel came back and screwed it up because he's a douche bag that thinks he and he alone should rule over the city. Marcel is a whiny little brat that doesn't give a shit about anything else. What ever super sad he feelings he had, does not justify what he did and continued to do. Just the Hayley fans, you're the sad feelings of your fave to justify all the chaos they bring. Doesn't work Hayley and it doesn't work for Marcel.
6. Oh! What saint! He rebuilt the city and created an "empire (as you say) after Mikael burned the city down? After MARCEL brought Mikael to town? The people of NOLA should have nominated Marcel for a Nobel Peace Prize, I guess. Or given him a plaque saying "Thanks for bringing two maniacs to town -back to back - because of your hurt feelings" I mean Hayley ruins lives and makes stupid decisions because....feelings. It works for Hayley and Marcel. Why not right? EMPIRE!!!!!
8. Where and when did I say Klaus was a good person? They are all bad people. Including Marcel - the macho man self-insert. You just cant admit that Marcel is a propped up dumbass. He has a right to be mad at Elijah for killing him but, the Davina shit needs to fucking stop. I can't feel sorry for an asshole like Marcel who is has created misery and death at his convenience. The city would better off if Marcel was dead or gone. Same for the Mikaelsons. The difference is the Mikaelsons are fighting to survive and don't pretend otherwise. Whereas Marcel sits in judgement of others when he's guilty of the same crimes and incredibly stupid on top of that. He is insufferable. I didn't feel sorry for Klaus when he sat that dungeon. What did bother me was the sheer hypocrisy of Marcel standing in judgement and his self-righteous bullshit. They kiss his ass way too hard, just like Hayley.

It was clearly not a response Marcel ever though he'd hear, or think Elijah would have thought. Elijah has always been unapologetic when it came to the vicious things he has done to protect his family.
