    • @RidgelinePatriot
      @RidgelinePatriot 6 дней назад +1

      @@GodKanye No I think you have zero clue.... look at the total dollar figure of imports going each way and do the math. Also, more importantly look at the percent of GDP the exports to each corresponding are made up of. It's a blood bath.... Canada simply won't survive if this escalates. It's not even close. Do the research before you start talking to keep from making a fool of yourself.

    • @Alexhvx

      Most of imports from Canada are oil and gas, and he decided to only tariff those 10%. Either way this will hurt the both US and Canada a lot Expect to pay more at the pump in the coming weeks

    • @gregorywright2025
      @gregorywright2025 6 дней назад +20

      @@GodKanye, the tariff is first paid by the company importing the product initially then that company will increase the price on the import to soak up the cost on the consumer. Canadian exports to US are worth 438 billion. American exports to Canada are worth 356 billion dollars. But like I said 75% of all of Canadas exports are going to America while only 17% of our exports are going to Canada since America is such a larger economy. Canadas tariffs on 17% of our exports will hurt for sure while our tariffs on 75% of Canadas exports will hurt them significantly more. It’s going to be a bloody battle but in end Canada and Mexico will go into economic collapse in just a few months if they don’t bow down to the God Emperor.

    Of course resisting America is a nationalist position, because the whole nation-spirit of Canada can be summarized as "at least we're not Americans." It's not a nation-state in the most direct sense. We're like China & Taiwan, one American people divided into two different governments. The original line was "Americans subject to English parliament" vs. "Americans independent from English parliament" but even that's gone now. Is it any wonder that when polled about "what makes you proud to be Canadian" the answer is healthcare? Not because it's good but because it's just about the only difference from America they know.

      Tariffs against a country causes the country that placed the tariff to pay the money. But the result is that the American customer looks for some other product that is either made in their home country or some other country that hasn't had a tariff placed on it. That's why Canada is placing tariffs on products manufactured in red states. That will make Canadians buy elsewhere, for cheaper, and Americans will lose their jobs. Blue states should be safe.

    Personally think only Alberta has proven to be worthy to be a potential state in the US, the rest of Canada has to earn it imo. While Canada could be sitting on untapped resources that could actually benefit whomever is in control, after the decades and maybe generations of Canadians degrading our culture and country to prop up their pride, on top of barely just winning our country back from the nihilist lefties, I don’t want to welcome +40 million people that are supposed to be our good neighbors but condescendingly have a chip in their shoulder. I want the people to come in if they actually love our country and will do what is necessary to help preserve our country and culture.
    It’s difficult for me to welcome those who has used our culture as an excuse to belittle for their self pleasure. Albertans in the meanwhile have been more self assured of who they are they don’t need to walk over an allies’ culture to have pride in who they are, they are stable in reflecting themselves as Albertans. Zero need to emphasize how they are compared to other counterparts, can’t say the same with most of Canada unfortunately.

      There are flaws in the plan. Trump has said he will "absolutely" impose tariffs on the E.U. . When you add up the trade with them as well it crosses more than 50% of total U.S. exports. At that point, the scale tips and the U.S. becomes disadvantaged more in any trade war with retaliation. Trump is relying on a dubious assumption that the world economic factors that led to U.S. wealth with the McKinley Tariff will hold up in the 21st century. There are now extreme differences and abilities to circumvent tariffing countries, with airplanes, worldwide commercial shipping, diversified markets with more countries now being developed, new tech etc. There's a reason free trade economies (meaning those who engage in more free trade than tariffed trade) have outperformed tariffed ones.

Canada doesn’t pay the tariffs the companies that purchase from Canada pay more and then they will pass the buck to the consumer. At the end of the day the USA is almost bankrupt and in a weak spot on the economy board with a transfer of power looming. Play strong from a weak position is the art of war. What countries stop people from leaving? All countries stop people from entry fentanyl bs is to cover the fact that USA is almost bankrupt

    My understanding of the whole tariff thing is that it disproportionately affects big international companies since they generally operate in more than one nation to take advantage of differences in regulations in different places (plus they also sell their products internationally). If normal domestic corporate taxes increase in the US, a lot of them don't care or even encourage it because it affects their competitors more than it does them and mostly just protects their market share. That's why a lot of big corporations will still give money to the Dems even if they think business taxes will go up. That's also why you almost never hear about tariffs talked about it politics because the big corpos really don't like them and won't support politicians who want to use them. Tariffs are essentially an "anti-globalist" type of tax.
    Ultimately, the price of the tariffs will be passed on to consumers the same as any other tax on business, but if you also lower other taxes to compensate, then it won't change much for consumers. It will, however, put heavy pressure on bigger businesses to avoid outsourcing jobs and makes things cheaper and easier for any local businesses that don't operate internationally. Domestic jobs will also increase and fewer resources will be spent on massive shipments between continents to take advantage of cheap foreign labor.
    As far as I'm aware, the relative lack of tariffs has helped make a lot of corporations way more powerful than they really should be, so I'm curious to see if we'll get some kind of paradigm shift if more countries start using tariffs over domestic business taxes.

Everyone including the USA needs to increase domestic production. Our number one ally needs to be strong and not weak dependent on just American trade.
      If they work more with China to sell goods and services their products will still be subject to Chinese tariffs. Canada already charges China tariffs so maybe it evens it out idk

If tariffs are passed on to consumers then what makes them think corporate taxes aren't also be passed on to consumers? The fact is, corporations don't have unlimited pricing power and they do have to absorb some of the cost. Why else would corporations be stockpiling ahead of tariffs? To save money for the consumer? I don't think so. And why would the Canadian government be so upset if they they could just pass it all back to the American consumer? Low tariffs on overseas corporations and high taxes on USA corporations is an America Last policy and Trump is trying to reverse that.

    Trump's tariff might just be a wake-up call for Canada. Canadians have grown too comfortable, and it's time for improvements. Like China, Canada protects its own markets-just look at its telecom industry with poor cell service and an overly protected banking sector. Unlike the U.S., Canada has limited banking competition, missing out on many perks available south of the border. In the long run, this tariff could push Canada toward much-needed reforms.
