I have been on a "Level Up" journey for the last few months. I am down 15lbs , I am redecorating my apartment, I have revised my style, organized my apartment, joined a gym, started reading instead of watch tv, paid off my car & credit card, died my hair a darker shade of brown, started wearing eyelashes and lipstick (a big move for me) and getting regular mani pedis. At first my "friends" cheered me on but that went from-"good for you"- to "who do you think you are". Once that started I had to step back from my so called "friends". Oddly enough I get the most support from the men in my life and at the gym who cannot help me enough. It was a hard lesson but a lesson none the less. a At 55 I do not have time or desire for drama.

Yes, the last principle. Oversharing will always back fire. No matter if you are healed or not. It is so sad, however learning to keep parts of your self private is a great tool. If you need to vent about something that is super vulnerable to you, try journaling or voice noting on your phone. Amazing video ❣️

Trusting people I barely know and sharing my deepest vulnerability has always been a thing in my life. One of the hardest lessons I've learned is keeping things private. Can't trust no one.
I have made this rule in my life that I don't talk about myself to other people. With time, they establish how much I can trust them. Then I share accordingly. But on the listening front, I am open to to understand and support within moral ground and I keep all this info secret. This way I get to keep people's trust, make new friends, and learn about life in general.
You’re the first person I’ve heard acknowledge how someone can gain your trust and then use what you share to hold you back. That happened to me regarding a job opportunity a while back. I think this is the most heinous form of duplicity a person can exhibit and reveals a very dark side of their character!

Yes overexposure is a weakness that will soon be no more of mine. I felt at times I do it because I believed if i do, people would feel comfortable around me or I can also add something more for conversation or even have them feel like they are not alone. Yes to all these points! Especially the oversharing part. As someone who grew up in a household of narcissists, the oversharing part is something I struggle with. Being unseen and heard as a child can result in oversharing or being overly cautious with all types of relationships. This goes hand in hand with boundary issues where someone does something that you don't like or asks uncomfortable questions. In these scenarios, I felt as though I had no choice but to sacrifice myself to avoid being alone, rejected, or both. Big mistake! Not everyone has or will have your best intentions. They will spread your business like no other, sabotage you or whatever else without even batting an eye. Going to therapy and praying has really helped. Now I am able to stand up for myself when necessary and getting better at knowing what is appropriate/inappropriate for me to share. Thanks again for a great video!!!💗

Everything you said about womanhood doesn’t equal sisterhood is so true specially when the boss is a woman. During my pregnancy I had two female bosses and neither of them were understanding and caring during that period of time. I found the male bosses more compassionate and understanding.

Literally I almost was kidnapped from my desk job yesterday because i let this guy talk me into taking me to lunch. He stood at my desk for five hours to talk to me and ask personal and invading questions which yes I answered. I basically gave him the key to be my stalker because I couldn’t put my foot down to tell him to get the Fcccckkkk away from me and didn’t know the way to get out the conversation. When I told him I wasn’t going to let him take me for food on my lunch break…he sped off upset and agitated. So glad I dodged the bullet.
I think the post important principle is “Not all skin folk is Kim folk”. I Amit sometimes I want to trust other women immediately after meeting them because they are women like me and know the struggle. But it’s best to be private and not share so much of yourself with other women. In other words keep the conversations short and positive. I think the principle I need to work on is “conditions”. I do believe in loving everyone unconditionally as Jesus Christ loved us. However, I do feel that I may love someone to the point that what they are doing is harming myself. For example, my mother struggled with drug addiction throughout my teenage years and young adult life. She stole, she lied, and even while confronted, have gotten physical. I told myself as soon as I finish college, get married, and create a family of my own, I’ll cut her off. That’s what I did. It was hard to let go because that was my mother and I loved her the closest to my heart. But just 2 years ago, she quit using drugs, became more religious, and is doing fine now. She even want to do more for my kids as a grandmother. I’m extremely proud of her and I accepted her back into my life. But I can’t help but think, I should have cut her off sooner. Before the stealing begun. But I’m glad she is sober and we are in a happier place. I do need to work on my conditions with people, those I love and those I just know.

Sometimes by cutting someone off - while making it clear that you're open to rebuilding if they get it together - it forces them to really make a decision about what's most important to them. The everyone can't come hit home for me. Experience is teaching me how costly it is in terms of time and energy trying to "put your friends on". I love this channel it’s like I can’t get enough of it. I need more on OVER EXPOSURE. For me I think I over share to try to connect with people. But this has burned me time and time again Professionally and Personally. As I was listening to this I reflected on so many times that people have smiled in my face and use something I told them against me. Even small things in icebreakers at work all the way to my current relationship. This is a habit I must break. Mote on this and terms and conditions please. I have friends that struggle with terms and conditions so I know that would help a lot of women too THANK YOU FOR THIS CHANNEL such a blessing.

‘All skin folk ain’t kinfolk’ I learned that one the hard way. I used to be a bit of a hoteptress and was always the one in the office that wanted to speak up and go to the bosses (two black women by the way) on behalf of the other bw in the office about one lady (ww) that wasn’t doing her job. So really 4 bw (myself included) carried the team of about 10. I’ll keep it simple they left me out to dry and everything they were complaining about regarding that ww they quickly got amnesia and was quiet as church mice doing our group meeting. Lesson for me stop letting people gaslight you. Also, if you are anything like I used to be, let go of the notion that all bw are for one another and will come to your aid or support you in non-black spaces (for me the office in my old job and the new). Had to learn I got my back and stop waiting for this Wakanda Forever dream, it’s fictional just like the movie.
This is another excellent video. I wish I had implemented some of these principles sooner along my journey, but I’m thankful for the lessons and can say I’m enjoying this new me.

Not all skin folk are kin folk yup 👍🏽 that one hurt long time. Neither do other woman I had to learn to like woman never liked them but that took away from me being feminine so I healed it for me… still don’t like most woman but can appreciate what some woman are about and can do.

I totally understand this sentiment, my love. But really, it's about being careful and taking the time to vet for those safe spaces and safe people. Once you find them, you'll be so happy you did! It's better to be a little lonely while we vet than to live with years (or, even a lifetime) of regret for letting the wrong people in😉

‘All skin folk ain’t kinfolk’ I learned that one the hard way. I used to be a bit of a hoteptress and was always the one in the office that wanted to speak up and go to the bosses (two black women by the way) on behalf of the other bw in the office about one lady (ww) that wasn’t doing her job. So really 4 bw (myself included) carried the team of about 10. I’ll keep it simple they left me out to dry and everything they were complaining about regarding that ww they quickly got amnesia and was quiet as church mice doing our group meeting. Lesson for me stop letting people gaslight you.
Also, if you are anything like I used to be, let go of the notion that all bw are for one another and will come to your aid or support you in non-black spaces (for me the office in my old job and the new). Had to learn I got my back and stop waiting for this Wakanda Forever dream, it’s fictional just like the movie.
