  • “It is pretty extraordinary that it took Rishi Sunak 13 days to suspend Tory candidates who place bets on the date of the election.”
Rishi Sunak’s judgement is being questioned as it seems he “failed to react” to the election betting scandal more broadly, says The Times’s Steven Swinford.

Bad Enoch is just a nasty, angry person. Her tetchy is on another level to Sunak. Kemi has to grow up before she has the temperament to be successful in politics. At the moment her surprising ascent will be followed by an even faster crash and burn.

She could be very bad for what remains of the Tory Party. But she's spotted an issue which, in the future, could easily turn into a car crash for Labour, and she's setting herself up on the Moral High Ground to take advantage if that happens.
Labour needs to take women's sex based rights seriously. Tennant needs to stick to mouthing other people's lines.

For all of you complaining about your corruption in the UK, the USA Supreme Court just ruled that 40-years of laws against officials accepting money & gifts AFTER awarding lucrative contracts are now ILLEGAL. That means if any Tory moves to the USA it is now perfectly legal for a UK company to give them £100,000 as a thank-you for giving them a £10,00,000 PPE contract. Don’t you just love crony capitalism?

How do the public know he didn't call the 'snap election' when he did because he was 'advised' on a 'more preferable date', i.e., one which suited 'certain interests' far better??? We all know when you ask the CONS for their perspective, they LIE like it's in their nature...For example, if a bookmaker had significant liabilities resting on a certain event occurring, but was able to 'influence' another outcome which significantly reduced such liabilities, wouldn't it be in that bookies interests to get on the blower to 'somebody'??? Jus wondered...

Politicians shouldn't bet on ANYTHING they have a chance of influencing. That's insider-trading or could be seen as such.
The problem is that it just shows they (or some) think they are above the rules that they set for us plebs. It's either corrupt or it shows a total lack of judgement.
If a Politician wants a flutter, there are a million things outside of Politics, to bet on.

By all means, scrutinize the policies of a Labour government. I would argue, though, that you have a monumental amount of scrutinizing to do with respect to the Conservative governments over the past fourteen years. I still haven't recovered from the interview you did yesterday with yet another former Conservative strategist, who was whining about the bad hand that Liz Truss had been dealt by Boris Johnson and about the even worse hand that Rishi Sunak was eventually dealt by Liz Truss. THEY WERE ALL TORIES, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!

I can believe, that. politicians are still saying they should be able to bet on politics but only if they don't have direct knowledge. I used to work for one of the big four accounting firms. When I joined I had to sell all my stock in companies that we audited to the extent where even if I had stock in stock portfolios managed by a fund manager in a wrapper that I had no control over. My wife had to sell hers even though she did not work for the company. This was still true even if I was not working on the accounts of any of these companies. Why ? The thinking was even if I was not directly involved, I may hear a conversation around a water cooler or I may see a document on someone's desk which could. influence my decision to buy or sell stocks and therefore could be seem as insider trading. The same should be true of politicians
