He had to be rushed to the hospital and while they were able to bring his conciousness back, there was still lots of internal brain damage and bleeding that needed to be fixed. Unfortunately the operations would take months of different procedures and Nate decided against all these surgeries and medical care that could've saved his life as he had shows scheduled in the coming months he didn't want to miss. He checked himself out of the hospital, still with staples in his head, still with internal bleeding and all. This unfortunate series of choices led to the strokes and ultimately his death. Although he didn't die until 2011, he was completely out of show biz by mid 2008 as his continued strokes disabled him severely for pretty much the rest of his life at that point. Also not to mention sadly Nate also struggled with addiction to things like Hennessy and weed and he continued to heavily smoke and drink even after his first stroke which definitely had to have gotten in the way of recovering from that initial stroke
