I have never seen a professor have this much passion on teaching a subject. He's clearly a legend and he already earned my respect long before this first lecture ends. What a man to look up to as an engineering student

If you guys facing issue with audio on one side only, And you are on android then it may help, it worked for me 1. Go to mobile setting 2. Search for audio (Mono audio for mi users) 3. ENABLE that mono audio option. Thats it .👍
If you have audio issue, just use monotone setting in Android mobile and if through desktop use the monotone setting in Windows 10 OS. And enjoy the great teaching of prof Som
I have gone through the whole lecture series and I can bet this is the best lecture series in basics of thermodynamics. Thanks for such a valuable content.
For all the people who are saying that this lecture is useless i want to say that in this video he just wants to tell the purpose of studying thermodynamics and of what it is actually about. This video can create your interest in the subject.Thermodynamics is one of the most beautiful sciences and each and every process and event through out the universe are governed by laws from this basic science. He introduced the subject in excellent way.
Profesor S.K. Som is really a True Legend of Thermodynamics.. For those.. who really dislike Thermodynamics, gonna fall in love with this Subject.. Being a student of B.tech Food technology, I would suggest these video lectures for all the Branch of B.tech..appearing for GATE or other exams.. Lots of Respect to Sir🙏🙏🙏
Prof. Som was one of the finest teachers at ME Dept in KGP. He had crystal clear concepts and animated & interactive delivery. One can see that energy level here also inspite of all the constraints imposed by the recording process.
for audio with both the earphones , 1: copy URL of the video. 2: open VLC on your PC. 3: Go to FILE > Open Network and paste the URL. 4: Then video will start in VLC media player. 5: now select AUDIO > Stereo audio mode. 6: select and see which one will give audio in both side, in my case (Audio > Stereo audio mode> mono).

Extremely indebted to Prof SK Som. Have watched his lectures repeatedly while preparing for GATE. Helped me in cracking Gate. Felt sad when i came back here to see his video and saw comment that he is no more. Prof SK Som will be remembered by every engineer who has attended his classes. RIP!!
sir by watching all this lectures ,i understand thermodynamics very well ....the teaching skill is on a different level...examples are easy to understandable(eg;for reversibility)..thank you sir!
Hi NPTEL you have a lot of thermodynamics courses. it's difficult to choose for me. As a mechanical engineering student which one you recommend for me😊
One way to fix it without any effort would be to set your audio output to mono from studio. In case of mono audio output, the sound being played only on one side of the headphones would be played in both the sides. To do this in windows 10, go to ‘ease of access’ (just search for it) then to audio section and the enable mono. That should do the job.
