READ BEFORE BUYING I've been looking for a flip phone for years now to down grade. Tried many different ones. After this review I gave this one a try and so far it's worked wonderfully. Call quality is excellent, texting is doable, youtube videos work(but the smaller screen will keep me from binging), I'm using the hotspot to write this review now. programmable buttons are nice. FM radio is a plus. My husband installed google maps as an apk and that works great too, gives turn by turn directions even when closed. Does everything I want and no extra. I bought a Kyocera Dura XV Extreme from Verizon about a month ago. ($260) I like it...No more i-phone or Smart-Phone for me because the Kyocera does everything I need a phone to do. However, texting on a push button phone is an inconvenience for sure, I wish it had voice texting. At the time I bought it there were no car chargers available. I should check their website and see if car chargers are available now. All in all, I think it's great phone.

Don't know if I missed in the video but I'm curious, is this phone anti google? I hear that some of the phones send info back to other countries from your phone .🤠
Phone cons: I found this phone to be unfriendly. I and others played with two sample phones and found the keypad’s Navigation D key and Enter key unfriendly as you can’t operate one without accidentally hitting the other key with manly sized thumb and finger tips. The OS has way too many extraneous step to accomplish any simple task such as entering contacts or calendar events. The Okay-Okay feature on making settings is really very annoying. A propriety OS wold make much better use of the phone’s capabilities than the unruly Android OS.
Idk, It seems very easy to use for me and doing basic tasks isnt hard at all. Everyone is different though, but even my grandpa who has never used this phone was able to understand it decently well
That's the only thing that keeps me for buying it... If someone can find a solution to that it would be perfect! Please tell me if you find one! Thank you!
I'm done with constant connectivity. I want a push button wall phone on a POTS line with a 25 foot coil cord at home. This phone in the car for emergencies only. A good old Garmin GPS in the car for mapping. And hold everything else. I don't want it. I WANT TO BE UNREACHABLE again. The 21st century SUCKS. That's a lot Steve Jobs. You and Mark Zuckerberg destroyed society, and made life intolerable for all of humanity. Jerks.
Does this model support GSM network after unlock or something? My XV plus does support GSM altho Verizon them self say it doesnt. Been using this for travel kinda hesistate on buying this since they say it doesnt support GSM
How do I turn the ringer on? I love the phone for my blind mom, but somehow she turned the ringer off and I can't figure out how to turn the ringer back on.
I was able to view weather radar, ,youtube, Ebay, police scanners, and a radio. I installed flashlight on my orange side button. The Radio I programmed on the left button. FM antenna is easy. Find a cheap headphone bug wire. Cut a few inches from the connection. Plug into the phone port. There is your antenna. Turtleback (USA) makes excellent heavy nylon cases for them. Phone is MADE IN JAPAN. Not, China. Perfect!
Since this is Android, will Verizon require a data plan to connect this? Can it be used for prepaid $25 talk/text plan that I currently use with my dumb phone?

I haven't downloaded apps. I have used the internet which works fine. I have accessed RUclips and it works great. And yes, Bluetooth works great on this phone
How is the battery life?
@@yossifelder6775
My battery will last about a week if I don't use the phone at all, and i had to charge daily when I used it as my primary caller. Hope that helps
@@markj7579 Thanks.
Can you do a video on mobile hotspot with Verizon please? Thanks.
what aspect of the service are you looking for me to cover?
@@TKBay I'd like to show how to use it. I looked it up and now I know what it is, but I I don't know how to set ir up to use it, and if there's any cost with Verizon to use it. Thank you for responding. I love your videos.
@@TKBay how fast is the hotspot on a MacBook?
Excellent 👌I have a dura xv lte and Hotspot my laptop and tablet
Wow, No way it has Hotspot? That's one thing that is keeping me away from getting it because sometimes I have to do Computer work on the Go
Is this phone LTE only ? Does it have 3G Fall back ? Thanks
Thanks for the awesome video. Do you know if there is a way to track the phone gps? As a parent it would be nice to be able to track where my teens are with this phone. Thank you!
Does the speakerphone work while the flip is completely closed, Nextel style?
Don't know if I missed in the video but I'm curious, is this phone anti google? I hear that some of the phones send info back to other countries from your phone .🤠
Does this model have a black screen like the older ones.
so, im not from the US and i plan to buy this; does it accept other sim cards ?
Everyone is different though, but even my grandpa who has never used this phone was able to understand it decently well
I’m going to give this phone another try
Shame its not Sim Free to use in other Country's, id buy it...Cool review TK :-)
waiting to hear about an unlocked model for that
That's the only thing that keeps me for buying it... If someone can find a solution to that it would be perfect! Please tell me if you find one! Thank you!
What about navigation/maps?!
Buy a smartphone if you want these features.
@@theamerican7080 You mean "buy a phone with a giant fragile glass screen".
@@rm9308Another commenter said their husband put a google maps APK on this phone and it works
Jerks.
I have 1 question. Why do I go to commercial websites without this kyocera duraxv extreme e4810 model?
Does this model support GSM network after unlock or something? My XV plus does support GSM altho Verizon them self say it doesnt. Been using this for travel kinda hesistate on buying this since they say it doesnt support GSM
Is there a SIM unlocked version and is there a dual SIM version?
How do I turn the ringer on? I love the phone for my blind mom, but somehow she turned the ringer off and I can't figure out how to turn the ringer back on.
Try the volume rocker on the left side of the phone, if not go into settings>sound settings>volume
I want this phone 😢 but a review on Amazon said it's not compatible with AT&T
You need to get the at&t version, I have one.
Does it have Whatsapp on this phone? Also is it now available as unlocked, and will hot spots work without Verizon like on Mint Mobile for example
belt clips. haha. I feel like thats the perfect dad accessory.
Can you get a face out hard plastic belt clip for it
Does this have wi-fi connectivity features?
Yes> Wi-Fi Version: 4 (802.11 a,b,g,n) also supports 802.11 k,r
It also supports bluetooth
I was able to view weather radar, ,youtube, Ebay, police scanners, and a radio. I installed flashlight on my orange side button. The Radio I programmed on the left button. FM antenna is easy. Find a cheap headphone bug wire. Cut a few inches from the connection. Plug into the phone port. There is your antenna. Turtleback (USA) makes excellent heavy nylon cases for them. Phone is MADE IN JAPAN. Not, China. Perfect!
Does it support voice to text for texting and email response? How would I move contacts from my iPhone 8 to this? I’m looking hard at this phone.
Hi, Did you ever get this phone?
Since this is Android, will Verizon require a data plan to connect this? Can it be used for prepaid $25 talk/text plan that I currently use with my dumb phone?
You dont need a data plan to use this phone. If you want to access the web browser you will though.
Makes me miss my Nextels
Is there a mod for it to make the SIM hot-swappable?
I've always wanted a smart flip phone with a full qwerty keyboard. This one is almost perfect. Hope blackberry will come up with this kind of phone. Great review. 👍
Blackberry pearl
I have one and I really wish it had a docking charging stand for the house. Having trouble holding a charge!
There is a charging dock. Advance Tec Industries, part no. AT2100A has them. I purchased one and it is great. just lay phone in it. no more plugging cords in.
@@robertnewpher2285 Thanks for your reply, I bought that AT2100A too and it's coming in handy because the phone needs a lot of charging from it's very short battery life. If you're looking for long battery life, this phone is not for you! The trade in value on this phone at Verizon is only $10.00, they know it's no good.
Anybody.. can I transfer my music from my iPhone7 to this device and listen in my car via Bluetooth??. I’m downgrading for simplicity and sanity. Thanks 🙏🏻
I own this phone's long reigning precursor, the DuraXV LTE. It does all this and dare I say is WAY more cooperative regarding automatic bluetooth pairing with cars in my experience, my old HTC smartphone often had to screw around for like 5 mintues before properly pairing.
i just found today is that the iphone can not transfer to the android operation system
@@briantacke357 Yeah apple does that on purpose so you stay with an iphone
Where can I get the headphone 🎧 you have in this video sir? Thank you in advance!
Mathieu Grisby the ear piece is found on the Kyocera website
Would this phone work with Tello wireless provider? Has a SIM card?
Is this E4610?
does it have voice to written text for texting?
Will it support other networks..like vodafone etc
How do you text. How do you make calls. How do you do speed dial. The other stuff is not needed.
Can you link ear buds?
