  • Mel Mermelstein (Leonard Nimoy) and Jane Mermelstein (Blythe Danner) live the good life in Southern California with their four delightful children. He operates a pallet manufacturing company where he maintains a private Holocaust museum dedicated to the members of his family who were murdered at the Auschwitz concentration camp in the summer of 1944.
Mel shares his experiences with students and writes a letter to the editor complaining about those who deny the Holocaust.
When Mel receives a letter challenging him to try for a $50 thousand reward for proving the Holocaust, his requests for assistance from Jewish defense organizations goes unanswered.
Mel turns to William John Cox (Dabney Coleman) a local public interest lawyer, who comes up with legal plan to trap the deniers. When the deniers refuse to consider Mel's acceptance of their offer to prove the Holocaust, Cox files suit in the Superior Court.
The case attracts widespread media attention and the final hearing is televised by all three networks. The Court's landmark ruling is broadcast around the world.

Tolerance is such a wonderful trait in people. It broadens the Christian perception that all are born equal under God. Whether that God is the God of my Church or whatever House of God is occupied, creation makes us all Gods Children. We might have disputes but we can resolve them with Care, Compassion and more than a modicum of Christian Charity!

It is more important than ever that we NEVER FORGET. The lies and hate speech continue and those survivors that can give first hand accounts are fewer and fewer with each passing year.

Very true Tracy, the parallels are frightening. My new book, The Choices of Mind: Extinction or Extinction? deals with intolerance. Available at Amazon www.amazon.com/Choices-Mind-Extinction-Evolution-Gift/dp/B08419M838/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=the+choices+of+mind&qid=1580572504&sr=8-1 or for free at mindkind.info/Choices.pdf

    Powerful.
A good friend of mine here in Israel was a teenager in Auschwitz who lost most of his family there and never raised a family of his own.
For some years he was forced to do work that a human cannot imagine and lived/existed in conditions that defy belief, came out a walking skeleton barely alive and carried the psychological scars and his tatoo still visible after so many years throughout the remainder of his life.
He saw things that the human eye should never see in that 'Other Planet' as Auschwitz is called in Israel.
    RIP Moshe.

I came from a Washington Post article link. Mr. Nimoy (not just a wonderful role model and first alien many sci-fi fans knew) will not be forgotten either. Shalom good sir and take your place amongst the honored dead!

Always remember Leonard Nimoy for ever. they could'nt find any better to play Mr Mermelstein. With memory gain to prevent this to happen again.
