- Whilst I'm here for the 3rd/4th place playoff between England and Argentina, the only game that matters is the World Cup Final. 24 hours to go. I can only imagine how slowly time feels like it's moving if you're a fan of one of those sides. Here's some more build up to the game among the fans at the stadium.

I am almost sorry the tournament will be over in a few hours. You cannot believe the way in which this RWC pulls us together as a nation. It is simply fantastic. Whereever we go we talk about it. Strangers laugh and talk together in support of our team. Green jerseys are everywhere. I dont think there was a school in south africa that didnt have a Bok Friday yesterday. It is hard to describe. As a Kiwi and I believe I could speak for South Africans too this game is bigger than just the cup. For our countries it's history making, it defines our rivalry...even though we still have a slight win record against SA...this game both nations truly believe is about being the greatest team in history...even though factually the ABs will always be the greatest team in sports history based on 100yrs plus record. There's a feeling bigger than the cup for our 2 nations with this game.
Before 95 we had a bigger win ratio beating new zealand ....money ruined the game ..

SA maybe underdogs in SA’s eyes, but here in New Zealand we’re a little more realistic than that. Overwhelmingly we see it as a 50/50 match, and I think our opinion counts a little more than English fans, who are still hurting from last week. If South Africa pulls it off tomorrow, it will have to be the greatest world cup win thus far, it's not that they had a very hard run, it's that the teams they played all pushed them, they showed up big, Scotland pushed, Ireland played at top level, France played amazing, England played a master class tactically to make sure they were in it and South Africa managed to get it done, now it's on to the All blacks, if they win, which I hope do, will be exceptional, hope Argentina show up tonight and give us a proper match, want a English victory, but want a match out if it.

Well broken down. I'd lean more towards South Africa 🇿🇦 after reading this. I think it depends on whether they still have that extra left in the tank.
They would have had the most difficult run in RWC history - had to play all the top 6 (5 excluding themselves, obviously), and it would be a back to back win, breaking the 12 year cycle.

Whatever the result , there is more mutual respect between these two teams and their supporters than the respect other teams have shown them throughout the WC ( Northern Hemisphere!) . Looking foward to a huge match ! (Go Bokke !)
I agree...I don't know what it is but the Boks and ABs have an amazing respect for each other that is unrivalled and unmatched and I wish the Northern Hemisphere pundits especially which just eat some humble pie and give them both the respect they deserve. Both quite different brands of rugby but going at it hammer and tong for the historic 4th trophy...and that would mean 7 out of the 10 RWC finals to date have been won by these two teams! That's dominance and consistency for you and any team and young boy would love to adopt the attitude and playing style of either of these teams as they are winners through and through!

These fan predictions are reminiscent of 2019 final, where no one picked Boks to win after England’s win to ABs.. this is how we like it.
As you could see in the England/Argentina playoff, general fans want running rugby to win. It's taken NZ four years since being strangled by England in the semis to have a game that counters rush D, slow rucks and endless kicks and play flowing, exciting rugby . Go the ABs!

NZ a very different team to the one that played at Twickenham. Retallick and Frizell never played that day and both make a big physical impact to their forwards. However, I still expect the Boks to win a tight game in the wet

I'm one of the few Englishmen supporting the Boks tomorrow. My pre tournament favourites and if they do win it then my bank balance will look a bit more healthy 😅
Tim, so if because South africa had such a difficult run. If they win tomorrow, they are without a doubt the best team in the world and arguably the best of all time.
The best of all time? The All Black team that went back to back dominated the 4 year cycle leading into 2011, than again into 2015, then again into 2019, and were pretty close to getting a 3peat. This SA team have admitted themselves they got lucky in 19, and haven't dominated the following 4 year cycle into this World Cup. Yes, they've played a great World Cup, but they're nowhere near the best of all time

Just regarding the English/Wales "greatest game" comment. The reason this final is one of the biggest games in history is not just about rivalry, it's for the most wins ever since the start of the RWC by the top 2 teams in RWC history. South Africa also have notably missed 2 of the 9 events. Should be epic either way!

INteresting thought/idea..wonder.....watchign this match and the previous RSA vs England..there were young front three for England, no? The current England coach turned around Liecester...the English youth will play for Leicester and the current Boks coach is going to Leicester. Perhaps I am mistaken. As a kiwi and all black supporter ,our backs are better but unfortunately our forwards are not as dominate as year's past, sa will win the game .
Anyone who thinks wet conditions favour south africa hasn't been to either NZ or South Africa. The thinking is a fast game suits NZ but SA forwards are only playing 40mins so the 7-1 split removes the NZ advantage of a fast game, but with risks. Wet game suits NZ as they play in those conditions the most. A dry game with a heavy paddock suits South Africa and based on the weather report I have seen, that is most likely.
