Same here! I came here because I recently got a speeding ticket in VA smh. After not getting a speeding ticket in 31 years! lol It's time to start using the good old cruise control.
Thank you very much you have benefited very much. I am a girl from Saudi Arabia and I am driving for the first time. I have bought a Mazda CX5 2121. I wish you happiness. You are a good person.
Much appreciated; as a getting-older-by-the-day driver......and one who operates our 2020 GTR only infrequently, as it's my wife's daily driver......I've not found the cruise control controls/operation to be particularly instinctive in use. This video was therefore a very helpful introduction !!!
You’re very welcome! Please let me know if you have any other feature questions that I can help you with to get the most enjoyment from your new vehicle.
Jonathan Sewell okay, the things is that owner manual is in Japanese, I live here in Japan so the dealer said they don’t an English manual version, so it very difficult for me, always times I watched RUclips video to understand the systems
That is so cool i did not know that there were different ways to do the adaptive cruise control I use the cruise control a lot when doing dealer trades
Thank you for the valuable information. I have a question. I hope to receive a response from you. I have a Mazda cx-5 2018 Manuel. I tried to deactivate the radar in the same way as you, but it did not respond. Is the 2018 model different from the 2020 model?
We just purchased 2022 Mazda CX30 premium pkg. We didn’t realize the parking sensor wasn’t included. Is there a after market kit to have the parking sensors installed. We already have the other sensors factory installed. Thank you Paul Hajduk
Hi Johnthan my name is Richard from Toronto ontario canada I love your video we bought back in early 2021 Mazda CX-5 all wheel drive with turbo the signature series I still not sure how too use the cruise control
Can this be permanently deactivated in the 2019 or 2020? On my 2023 I can temporarily deactivate it by holding the Mode button for 3 seconds, but you have to do that every time you start the car.
Is there a way to adjust the breaking distance with MRCC SnG? my 2024 cx-50 waits too long to break and then breaks hard. This generates a Progressive insurance Snapshot HardBreak tick against my driving score, and the breaking experience is stressful.
while using cruise control and turn on blinker, vehicle decelerates, turned off adaptive cruise control went with normal cruise and same results, is there a step i'm missing. Tks Ray
Hello Mr Sewell, I have rented a 2020 Mazda 6 in Dallas,tx. Im having some issues getting the cruise control to work. I watch your RUclips video and asking for your assistance please
For legal reasons they cannot say it is safe to do so. If there’s an accident they don’t want to be held responsible. I’ve used it many times and I find it safe for me. I like to use max distance for highways and go down to 2 in town. I only go down to 1 when in stop and go traffic
do u have a video for cruise control on 2018 cx5 touring preffered package ? I cant figure it out 😭😂 I think my 2018 is slightly different than this one? or is it relatively the same ?
@@JSS I tried it out the other day, I may not have clicked "set" either but on cruise control trying to go 50 mph I had to press the pedal. I could go slower or faster than what the speed limit was when i clicked it on. it wasnt doing anything, I had to do it all lol. I'm going to try pressing set next time and see what happens. if not.. I hope my warranty covers it to fix it 😂 literally just got the car June 2
Is the CX 5 and the 2020 CX30 cruise controls functions (settings) identical? I have a new CX 30 and haven't used the cruise control feature , as most of my driving has been city 'stop & go' driving.
If you don't want to use the radar cruise you can push the cruise on button and hold it. It will turn to regular cruise and not slow down or speed up with traffic.
Not while it is set. The radar will automatically adjust you if you approach a slower vehicle. You would only need to brake for immediate or emergency situations.
Do you have to re-activate the cruise each time you start up the vehicle on a Mazda? I can’t find any source on this without physically trying one myself. I live far from a dealer. All Chevys allow you to toggle it on, so it’s not a two step process every time you drive. I know it’s a safety issue for some manufacturers, but that’s a lazy excuse if you’re already expecting to be under control of a moving vehicle.
No Mazda does not currently have a lane centering feature. The lane departure warning will notify you and make slight adjustments to keep you in the lane.
@@JSS hi Johnathan, i have yet to see my new cx5 make corrections in steering when crossing into other lane. It does buzz vibrate only. 2021.5 cx5 Canada. I doubt there is any difference in USA models.
Hi Jonathan, So, does it mean that to deactivate Adaptive CC, we got to bring the car to stop and P position? Also if you could explain how to switch between MRCC and MRCC (stop & go) that would be great. Thank you.
You can deactivate the adaptive (radar) feature while driving, just have to push and hold the on button. The stop & go is automatic if equipped. The MRCC can bring the speed down to zero as the can in front of you comes to a stop. Then you press the accelerator to begin after the car in front accelerates again.
@@JSS thank you. Manual refers to MRCC, MRCC with stop n go and Cruse Control. When I press Mode, speed can be set and headway control begins. If I press Mode once more it changes to ASL. If I press Mode and hold it still remains in ASL. So I’m wondering whether ASL is the Cruise control or is there another seperate mode as CC. Also is MRCC and MRCC with stop n go same?
@jonathansewell If you press & hold the “+”or “-“ it will increase or decrease the speed by 5 mph or to the nearest 5 miles per hour. For example: if your speed is set to 50 mph it will increase to 55mph or decrease to 45 mph. In the other case if your speed is set to 48 mph it will increase to 50 mph or decrease to 45 mph.
I’ve only had one manual since I’ve been with Mazda and it was a 2018 Mazda3. Most of the time you will have cruise control, but not the adaptive portion.
Start the vehicle & adjust the seat. Press “set” on the side of the seat and you will hear a “beep” then quickly press 1 or 2 on the seat. You can also program your key fob for each driver in the same way but you would press the “lock” button on the fob instead. Make sure you press it quickly- I think you have to do it within 3 seconds ir you will time out and will have to start over. Note that lumbar is not programmable.
CAUTION! IF YOU HOLD DOWN THE +SET YOUR SPEED KEEPS INCREASING! Just got my Mazda, and the feature is good, but if you want to increase speed just pulse it-not hold it down. I quickly was set at 75mph. IMO the buttons are too small (Mazda cx5 2022)
The bare bones 2021 and newer Toyota Camrys come with ALL self driving features Toyota has to offer. It even drives itself on the highway (as in turning for you on the bends and slowing and speeding up). With that being said why does Mazda consider it an “upgrade option” when Toyota gives it to everyone the best they have to offer. Makes no sense. Mazda has to participate a little here. Its NOT an option for a self driving feature. That should be included. I understand Mazda has the slow down and speed up standard. But they don’t offer stop and go features unless you pay. Which is a sham.
It is for the most part standard on everything now. And the “lane tracing” feature that Toyota has is beginning to arrive with newer Mazda vehicles. Overall pricing is always a struggle with manufacturers. Mazda uses higher quality materials as standard compared to some Toyota lines, but has to balance pricing in other ways.
Do you really trust your life on this crap? I have never driven a vehicle that the radar has work right and I used to be a master mechanic. There are just too many cars on the road to even think about cruise control and that goes for the interstates as well.

The Mazda 2.5 Turbo does not have cylinder deactivation, correct?
That’s correct. The 1 & 4 cylinders exhaust are used to precharge the turbine.
