    Iv been cleaning windows for over 12 years, I was on a ladder for at least 9 of those years, Iv got a Rojack ladder stopper, point ladders & a consider my approach to my work a safe one. Iv never cleaned 2nd story windows off a ladder, the money made from cleaning those windows is far less than the potential losses, plus most insurance only covers you for up to 5-6meters.
    Clean it with a pole or don’t clean it, plenty of work out there that’s not life threatening if any accidents happen, and the pole will clean them delicate windows good enough, be safe mate !

    Ladder is safe and not going anywhere, dug in at the bottom and set in at an angle at the top giving you a better angle closer to the glass. I still use ladders with wfp, to be fair I use the wfp more than ladders these days. Goog job and great video 👍

We made the switch quite a few years ago and ladders at that height are deffo a no no now. We clean loads of houses like that and dont have problems with quality of clean. In fact the frames and glass look in excellent condition even more the reason to WFP it. Each to their own and I get what youre saying about variety, but we have plenty or variety as window cleaners as each house is different majority of the time or represents a different challenge in some way or form. The glass is actually very delicate here and I quite like to look after it by hand. In fact, one of the panes was cracked and the customer asked me to tape it up while I was there. I always felt safer on a point ladder, great piece of kit.
    But been a wfp user for over 17yrs now and wouldn't dream of doing that height off a ladder now.
    As Fred Dibnah used to say "One mistake up here and it's half a day out with the undertaker".

    Says dont take risks.. rest ladder against a window corner.. are you mad? Make sure it's a flat surface would be been much safer to rest it against the concrete sill

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  4 года назад +1

      If it was against the sill you have the scenario where you are standing a couple of rings from the top and stretching to reach the window. This way, the ladder is nestled nicely in the corner and is positioned across the window. So my weight is lower down the ladder and I’m able to hold on without stretching to reach. As long as you have those good points of contact.😃👍🏼

    • @awedwardscleaningsolutions
      @awedwardscleaningsolutions 4 года назад +3

      I much prefer my ladder wedged in a corner than on a sill. Never been a fan of pointers tho

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  4 года назад

      On a point, if you stand to near the top and lean too far to the side, it can flip up, a bit like a Robin Reliant going round a corner too fast. But I think the idea of them is that you can position the top higher and across the window slightly, which means you’re actually standing lower down from the top, and you are standing more central to the window, so you don’t have to stretch. So if used correctly, they are actually safer!😃👍🏼

    There's no way would I clean it on a ladder. I wouldn't take it on never. Pole would be no good anyway as it's got wooden frames. Leave well alone. Unless you need the work .

    Why bother mate. Although taking proper safer measures and experience will help. If the worst was to happen. You would be well out of pocket for months if not worst . If the job or client doesn’t fit my preferences just move on to the next. That’s why we work for our selfs to get away from jobs like those. You have to customer profile. Personally speaking mate, i think your being foolish! If you want to risk serious life changing injuries or losing your life, just to clean windows, then im afraid you have really lost all sense of reality !
    I wouldnt go near that job on ladders, I've more bloody sense!
    In fact , the customer has no sense either, by allowing you to work on her house in such a dangerous manner !
    That could easily have been your last video Ashley & id miss ye mate.

    • @cbecks2051
      @cbecks2051 4 года назад +3

      Why? A customer assumes that since you are claiming to a be a cleaning business that you will have the adequate tools to get a job done. I have been cleaning all types including windows to ovens and have cleaned windows 4 storeys up! If you dont feel safe doing it.. contact another company and get them to take your work.

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  4 года назад +4

      I totally understand. I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone. But there are safe practices to using a ladder. I’ve spent many years on the ladder and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it, but there is still no room for complacency. I knew this would be controversial, but there are still window cleaners out there using ladders. So what kind of window cleaning channel would it be if I didn’t have a ladder in it somewhere!? Thanks for your comments.😃👍🏼
