OMG! I can't believe you're just watching this. This movie might be 15 years old but it totally stands up even now. I watch it every time it airs on tv even though I own the DVD because it NEVER gets old :). You have to watch it many times to see all the cool things. The original voice actor, Peter Cullen, for Optimus voices him in these movies as well. Two and three are ok but not a big fans of the others. Fun fact: director Michael Bay is a big military supporter and instead of hiring actors to play military personnel, he contracted with the US military to have them doing their actual jobs for the movie. Hugo Weaving is Megatron and he just has the best villain voice. You know him as the Agent from The Matrix.

@@kabirconsiders you noted that the transformations aren't blurry and that was a key detail that Michael Bay wanted to get right. He wanted it to look like it could be a car/truck/machine's actual parts so that's why there such heavy visual. Nobody could cry foul/fake.

The scene in the desert where the guy was calling and needed the credit card is interesting. According to director Michael Bay in Transformers' DVD commentary, this scene was inspired by a story told to him by US Navy SEALS about a similar situation during the 1983 US Invasion of Grenada.

Optimus had something around 10,000 moving parts for the animators to deal with. And that was just the first film. Inspired some collectors grade toys that have so many steps to transform them that I feel like the engineers who designed them one day just looked at the fans and said “well… you asked for it.”😂
In the past, cg animators had constant exposure to the experts in practical, physical effects. Real ship models, real explosions, etc… As that industry fades, that cross-exposure of different expertise has been lacking. The first Iron Man renders from 2009 look so much better than what came out of End Game. The guys over at Corridor Crew did a great comparison between real fire effects and digital effects, and what’s been lost in that transition in the industry. Worth a look.

    • @mage1439
      @mage1439 Год назад +1

The fans didn't really ask for it, though. We wanted an Optimus with 15 moving parts -- head, chest, shoulders, elbows, waist, knees, and wheels. None of us wanted beady-eyed visible mouth Prime.

    Some fum facts:
    1. They made sure that when something transformed, EVERY part went somewhere. Parts just didn't disappear or fold into nothing. So every design had to include the original vehicle and account for every part when transformed.
    2. Optimus voice is indeed the original voice actor.
    3. Michael Bay has a really close connection with the US military. So its why you will always see them in the movies. I mean he still had to pay them of course. But most everything you see is legit military hardware. In one scene where an aircraft carrier is turning towards a sunset, the military said they didn't want to do that shot. He offered them $200,000 just to take that turn.'
    4. The new Transformers coming out is supposed to focus on the later series "Beast Wars", in which transformers took the shape of wild animals like a Cheetah and what not. A bit silly, but the cartoon was actually really good.

17:16 You speak of Trans-Scanning. It’s how the Transformers transform. They scan what they wanna become and then they will become it. They start as Protoforms when they are first made by the AllSpark. When a Protoform scans an alt mode, the features of said alt mode will appear on the Protoform’s body and allow them to transform between their robot mode and the alt mode they scanned. For example, if a Protoform scanned a monster truck, then they would become capable of turning into a monster truck. And Transformers can be more than just monster trucks. They can turn into any vehicle, animal or machine they can scan. Such as a boombox, a tank, a submarine, an owl, a cellphone, a computer, a helicopter, even a dragon.

I am 43 and grew up on transformers. Watched every incarnation in America and a little more. There are currently 6 live action films with 2 more planned I heard including one next year. I would guess the version you watched on fox kids was the 90's robots in disguise anime version english dubbed. Fun facts, this is not the first theatrical release. There was an animated movie in theaters 1986 between seasons 2 and 3 of the original series. There are several hat tips to original series and original movie in this movie. At used car lot you see a yellow vw bug which is bumblebee's alt mode in original series. The line one shall stand one shall fall is from animated movie. A future fun fact is that in the third live action movie Leonard nimoy does the voice for sentinel prime but he also did the voice for galvatron in the animated movie in 86. There are many series from transformers and some are connected others reboot and reimaginning. I will warn you the live action movies are not good at continuity especially the last knight fifth movie. If you can watch all the films and especially the original animated movie. The soundtrack for the animated movie is even better but then I grew up in 80's and 90's. Oh, a new transformers series just started on paramount+ called earthspark. There are also two great transformers games where you can find the cinematic cutscenes and game play to make a movie on RUclips. I could talk anime and transformers forever lol. Oh the actor for Sam's dad is also the dad in film small soldiers which is another must see if you haven't.

I used to play with Transformers in the 80s. The movie is another Michael Bay style superhero film that has less of a connection with the toys than I would have liked, but hey, Megan Fox in her prime? I was all over it in ‘08. This was peak Shia Leboeuf, at the beginning of that phase where every movie had a quirky teen heartthrob. I think Noah Centineo, the guy from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, was the poster child for that a few years ago. They all have that kind of Bill and Ted way of speaking like they’re almost perpetually high on cannabis and Red Bull.

Hey Kabir! Still enjoying your content a lot. It's cool that you enjoyed this so much because it and Michael Bay caught a lot of flack for it being too over the top or something. I disagree. I definitely recommend watching the movie Jennifer's Body from 2009, a supernatural thriller from the same period with stunning performances by Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, and Adam Brody. I bet you'd enjoy it. Also a great soundtrack. Cheers mate.

I'll never understand the "It's 15 years old and totally still stands up!" notion. It was 2007 not 1987. I don't think visual effects have improved appreciably since about 2006 or 2007. And this movie is a lot of the reason why. This and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Avatar were when FX got so good that I don't know if I've been that impressed by any since then. At least not in the same way. You can't really improve upon the visuals in this. They're basically perfect. You can only just do MORE of them. Not that that's a bad thing. The only thing visually that's wowed me since this movie is stuff like IMAX resolution..

I think the reason I was so shocked by the quality of the CGI is because other movies from that era have terrible CGI. The CGI in this movie is legitimately better than a lot of the stuff Disney/Marvel is releasing today

@@kabirconsiders I agree. I think it's the 2007 equivalent of Jurassic Park. It's literally that good. So good it'll never look bad lol. They couldn't improve the dinosaurs...they could only give us more of them. I hope you give the Transformers sequels a chance. Even though I don't care for Transformers 2 (Revenge of the Fallen) or 5 (The Last Knight). You might like em. I like Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction about on par with this one. That's just my opinion though..

I love this movie!! I really wish Michael Bay wasn't such an a-hole! It takes away from the experience a little bit but luckily, I didn't know that when I first watched this so I already loved it, lol. I used to love playing with the toys back in the 80's. 😄

The transformers franchise for the list Orr I really enjoy, Michael bay definitely had a unique take on the franchise for good or bad, this one was awesome, revenge of the fallen it had its moments, dark of the moon is my personal favorite of the Michael bay transformers, age of extinction it’s solid it drags a lot though and the last knight definitely my least favorite it had some cool moments but yah that one was bonkers, bumblebee which is a reboot easily the best one not directed by mr bay, and they currently are making a new one called transformers rise of the beasts it takes place after bumblebee and is set to be released June of 2023 I believe

This movie (and the sequels) were such a disappointment due to the robot design. The 80s kids just wept.
Then came the Bumblebee movie.😊 they corrected the mistakes of the past.
Btw, check out Transformers: The Movie (1984)
