Cheeky Blackbirds and a glimpse of their Mating Dance

With a simple hand gesture, these red-winged blackbirds were encouraged to perch on my hand, expecting to receive some seeds. This behavior is fostered by regular visitors to the bird sanctuary who consistently feed them. In the second scene, we were lucky to catch a brief glimpse of the blackbird's mating dance. After just two attempts, the male gave the female the cold shoulder; perhaps he tried again the next day...
