Hey everyone, I hope this helps you enjoy learning Japanese and get a stronger feel for how its all used! 😁 Check the description for the links mentioned in the video! Subtitles will be available soon if you need Romaji/Japanese subs. Make sure to test your knowledge with the accompanying Review Test video released after the end of the Premiere! 😉
These kind of contextual videos are super super useful. It's not hard to necessarily memorize some words in a book - but using it properly in some situations (especially with Japanese formality rules) is a very different aspect I never get to see. I can't wait to see more!
you're so right!! i hadn't realised that my hiragana and katagana memory was actually good enough to read the actual japanese subtitles until this video cause i was too scared to actually try and read stuff. this video really made me realise otherwise and i feel so much more hopeful about this language learning journey!!
This is such a cool and fun way to learn Japanese words. The examples coming from video games really adds to the experience, because they might include stories and characters that you know (and love). Another thing I really appreciate is that you take a moment to actually give us the literal translation as much as possible. This is something that's been very important to me and so, so hard to find. So many Japanese teaching methods I've found just tell you "this is the English equivalent to this Japanese sentence", without ever telling you what you're actually saying in Japanese. But I don't speak a new language by translating in my head (maybe thanks to growing up bilingual), so I need to know what exactly everything means in Japanese. I really really hope you keep this up in the rest of the series. Looking forward to watching the next parts when I have the time!
Thanks so much Monika! I think its something that is really worth doing for learners seeing the language and how its used and also gives a lot of structure to the channel so hopefully peolle enjoy it! :)
I’m so blown away by this! I love that you gave multiple clips for each word/phrase to ensure people can see them naturally in multiple contexts. Ugh, this is so cute and delightful. Immediate subscribe.
I'm a big believer on learning about the same topic numerous times by different methods. It really sticks that way. So another fun way to go through genki is great. Also, I can't even imagine the amount of work to put together these videos going through all that game footage. Good job man, thanks for doing this!
Omg I have been STRUGGLING to use my genki book, and while I'm more experienced than greetings I did learn a few tid bits! Just context, or how things could be said differently! I'm so greatful! Thank you!
This is exactly what I need to go along with my textbook. They kind of info dump this whole section on one page, so it’s helped having it slowed down for a recap.
This is really great! I took Japanese beginners (101) this past spring. we used the genki textbook and wordbook. Unfortunately I couldn’t take beginners part 2 because of work and schedule issues. Hopefully next spring I can take it and this is a great refreshers. I’m a huge fan of videogames and anime. This is a ton of fun
Aw, you are so sweet. I enjoyed listening to you. This is my first video of you that I watch, and I subscribed to you! I'll be looking forward to more lessons! ありがとうございます、先生さん!💖
Thanks for the work and effort, that you put in. Your videos help me alot, to learn japanese and im practicing my english skills too ( im not a native englishspeaker, im sorry for my gramma).
I just want to say thank you! I took japanese at uni thinking it would be a fun class but the teacher is extremely fast paced I CANT keep up and i am the only one in the class that truly doesn't know anything japanese. this seems like its just a review for everyone else for example the person i sit next to is on 1000 day duolingo streak!!!! i even purchased the genki app and its soooooo dry. I dont know if ill even pass at this point but this is giving me a sigh of relief I will continue with my studying and hope i can catch up
ive been learning japanese for about 1.5 years now and have, up until now, consistently failed to memorize ごちそうさま. its probably because im selftaught and dont use it a lot/come across it often, but something about the way you explained it and put some clips of it being usedin more "authentic conversations" together finally did the trick :3 so thank you so so so much for that!❤🎉
Wait theses two?!? Haha I thought I was losing my mind because RUclips only alerted me to one for some reason, and I was seeing double. Okay for real this time, I'm ready to study.
Yep hehe I'll be trying to release a review video with each lesson so you can test yourself to see what you remember! Also to help people cram/test for exams at school etc.
Some Timecodes are wrong or missing, added them for prosperity! 00:00 Intro 01:28 Hello 04:58 Good Evening 06:08 Saying Goodbye 09:52 Excuse me 11:48 Good Night 13:20 Thank you 15:34 Sumimasen 16:16 Yes / Affirmation 16:56 No / Refuting The Rest is correct.
Wanted to just give a thanks for these videos! I took a trip to Japan in January with only super simple passing phrases to get me by, and I'm planning my next trip for January of next year and want to be just a bit more prepared. These videos have been really good for my learning since I really struggle to learn things alone, so having these guides has helped my retention a lot. Excited to sink my teeth into the language further!
I hope I can stick to this series till the 12th lesson. Super useful, and the amount of work put into this video is really mind-blowing. Number of Views do no justify this video at all. I got the Genki book, PDF version and took printouts ( because real book is too expensive) but didn't started studying. I was Just doing Anki cards But I think I'll be able to follow these videos and clear JLPT N5 by July 24 💥
thank you so much, i finds learning with textbooks super boring and your videos are like a treasure to me! i hope i can keep learning japanese with your lessons. 🥰
Wow, I loved it! 🤩🙏 With so many examples and clear explanations, you did such a great work, congrats!! 🤩👏 Looking forward to other videos as well. ありがとうございます。🙏
It is possible to use Roman characters to learn Japanese but the thing is, Roman characters have been used by tons of other societies as a primary script so those letters can easily be mispronounced. Kana is a syllabary so the pronunciation is for the whole syllable block. As the learner, you are reading each grapheme as a syllable.
I really like this video, all the context, explanation are so so good (I think I will stop on this series as for studying through Genki with accompanying videos)! But I can't help myself and because I've already did a huge "pre-work" before taking a serious study of Japanese (and for the sake of not having bad habit :)), but... おやすみ the pitch is pretty straightforward it's oYASUMI, but GG keeps saying oyaSUMI. Which looks in a longer sentence that the word is actually yaSUMI and o comes from the ending of previous word (because of the rules of pitch) :(
Thank you for the tip about the n in konichiwa. I just realized I'd kind of been skipping over it when I practice saying it to my cat. (He is my language partner, until I figure out how to say some simple sentences and then switch to talking with a real person)
i'm learning japanese and ahhh this is super helpful! :D i already have most of hiragana nailed down (and a bit of katakana too) it's really fun to test pronunciation lol keep up the great work!! ^o^
As I am currently learning Japanese I can agree that it's good to not rely on romanji but I also have the opinion that it can still be useful as in my case where I am writing out cue cards currently as I'm learning from book one of the Japanese from zero series where it just covers hiragana, so to get a better idea of what I'm doing for the cue cards I write in hiragana on the front side what ever symbol word or question I find then on the back side i title it (hiragana when i didnt know symbols) (ひらがな once I learned symbols) followed by the ramanji style of the word along with how to say it as close to perfect for pitch and other cues like spacing I then write down what the word or phrase definition would be in English my over all goal is to create a new Japanese only thinking brain that way If i see for example なんさいですか? Nansai desu ka? I know it means How old are you? Without even thinking about it and can quickly respond back さんじさいです。over all there is no one method to learning so do what ever works best for you to see best/quick results.
AMAZING CONTENT 😃😃😃!!! I am so happy to have found this content. Finally games+ japanese language lessons 😄😄😄😊😊😊, there couldnt be more awesome way to learn japanese 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍

0:46 thank you sir, not relying on romaji really boots confident and progress, guys try it

Bahahah it was fate! この動画のアイデアを考え出してくれてありがとうございます~!笑笑
This was such an amazing and clear video! I am excited to use these along my Genki journey!
The thing is other than the rest of the Japanese channels that exist you use real world examples of how the language is spoken. Fantastic!
This guy did a rly good job, short enough, informative and very easy to understand. i would like to double like this chanel lol
thank you so much, i finds learning with textbooks super boring and your videos are like a treasure to me! i hope i can keep learning japanese with your lessons. 🥰
