    Hi Morgan! I'm from Japan. ANESSA is known for waterproof and very strong UV protection. Many Japanese girls nowadays hate getting tanned and summer in Japan is super humid so that's why ANESSA is so popular.

    I think Anessa is typically an outdoors / sports sunscreen, that's why it's on the thicker side for it to be more long lasting. :)

    • @htm9710
      @htm9710 6 лет назад +7

      purohime you are right. Anessa suppose to be heavy duty sunscreen for outdoors / sports. it’s explained on the package as well :)

  • @onerva.
    @onerva. 6 лет назад +245

    "heavy rotation" or more often "hebirote" (ヘビロテ) refers to an item you use a lot, a favourite item, something you always reach for. it originally referred to a song or record played often by a DJ. the kissme eyebrow mascara is super popular, but I don't know if the name or the popularity came first 😄

    • @pim_rainbow
      @pim_rainbow 6 лет назад +1

      I believed that heavy rotation is the name of the brand.

    • @michellethevania1887

      heavy rotation is that akb song right?

    • @onerva.
      @onerva. 6 лет назад +4

      Michelle Thevania yeah it is but the saying predates that, it's about songs in general

    • @pencilfriendpaperscribbler6032
      @pencilfriendpaperscribbler6032 6 лет назад +1

      The expression "heavy rotation" is much older than that. It is a military term that refers to duty shifts without many breaks, usually due to emergent situations or a shortage of units. It is a bit depressing that someone thinks that it is a song, but perhaps they are very young. Anyway, soon there can be "heavy rotation" along the Wall. That won't be like North Korea at all.

    • @onerva.
      @onerva. 6 лет назад +10

      Pencilfriend Paperscribbler I've never seen that definition but okay. We're still on a video discussing makeup so no need to get so deep.

    I second the biore aqua essence sunscreen everyone is mentioning, but it does have alcohol (a ton of Japanese sunscreens do, but it’s mainly to help with formulation and since Gothamista and Liah Yoo have both given the nod of approval to that concept I don’t mind it, plus it makes it super easy to pay over makeup for reapplication.) The browcara is SUPER popular for kpop makeup artists for lightning up idols eyebrows esp when they have that caramel brown color for hair. If you’re looking for an eyebrow pencil, the Shu Uemura hard formula is cult classic. Eyebrow pen go for the Suqqu pen in moss green, HG for Lisa Eldridge. Addiction makes single eyeshadows that are super popular even with Korean beauty channels on RUclips. Flowfushi Moteliner in Black or Black Brown is a brush eyeliner pen that Pony uses all the time. I hear good things about the Canmake cream blushes for a watercolor effect, or the Addiction liquid blushes. The Canmake concealer palette is definitely cult status, a lot of K pop make up artists use it and Korean beauty you tubers like Pony and Lamuqe. For base, I’ve seen Kate used a lot or if you don’t mind high end, Koh Gen Doh Aqua foundation is supposed to be really good, a lot of western make up artists use it professionally, or Suqqu.

    the Anessa that you bought is mineral+chemical so the white cast and hard to rub in is quite normal for zinc oxide sunscreen. To smooth things out you can rub them on your palm first until less white(?) then apply it onto your face. For even application, build up thin layers instead of a big lump at a time, reducing rubbing on your face-> reduce wrinkles eh

    So happy to see this video!! We definitely need more reviews in English about Japanese products to make them more accessible to international consumers, because there are a lot of cool things over here! Totally recommend you do another one of these videos sometime (you absolutely HAVE to include a Japanese eyeliner next time -- I'm hooked on them to the point I can't bring myself to try any other liquid eyeliner pens, but they're also expensive, so if you happened to know any Korean ones that are comparable...it'd be life changing xD), and here are a couple products I recommend you include!
    Eyeliner: 1 Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner (nice, waterproof brush type liquid liner)
    Eyeliner (colorful): Love Liner (they seem to release new, limited colors pretty frequently)
    Eyeshadow: Dolly Wink quad (I think they're more pigmented compared to Canmake)
    Blush: Canmake Cream Cheek (FAVORITE BLUSH OF ALL TIME, plus there are some interesting shades)
    Lips: FLOWFUSHI Lip38°C Lip Treatment (intended to make your lips the color they'd be if you had a fever)
    That's my two cents!
    Thank you for this video~ Really hope to see some more like it in the future!

    Next time try Kate by Kanebo or Maquillage (drugstore) or even Lunasol (more high end). The eyeshadows are much better quality and more pigmented. I honestly hate the Visee eyeshadows. I have not had good experience working with the colors. Kate by Kanebo is my favorite for eyeshadows because it is drugstore and has nice colors.

    Do try the Biore sunscreen line! I suggest the BIORE UV PERFECT FACE MILK (or the BRIGHT MILK) for oily skin and the BIORE UV AQUA RICH WATERY ESSENCE (or the WATERY GEL one). I'm usually using the PERFECT FACE MILK and aside from giving the brightening effect (as most sunscreens do) it's so milky and light weight and it kind of works as a primer. :)

    I agree that canmake packaging are so pretty but the eyeshadows are not pigmented at all which is really disappointing. I tried the black lipstick and I didn't like it either.

    I recommend getting eyeshadows from KATE if you buy Japanese makeup. Visse’s eyeshadows are not that great. Also from Visse, I recommend the pencil liner.

    Try the gel sunscreens. They're good.
    I dont like Japanese eyeshadows. They're all shimmery. They're not pigmented. Rare times they are pigmented, they crease! Pfft..
