    I always targeted the warp core in my battles. Like Kahn would say: "I've deprived your ship of power, and now I intend to deprive you of your life."

    • @MadMac5
      @MadMac5 4 месяца назад +5

      That was VERY effective against Kessok ships in vanilla Bridge Commander. The bottom shields were always weaker than the rest of the ship, and taking down the warp core was the only reliable way I could take them down before their buddies started wrecking me.

    Memory Beta says the Lexington's strange beam is a Quantum Carrier-Wave Beam, and it seems to be for punching a hole in the shields to send a boarding party through.

    • @kavinskysmith4094

      so its an advanced boarding cruiser? as that was a thing back then in the old SFC games where boarding an enemy would legtimately end the fight
      either forcing them to give up, or self destruct

      It was actually a tractor beam (modified) that causes even damage to all shields (if they are all up) and hull damage.

    The Lexington is beautiful, I love the what Klingon Academy did for expanding the federation fleet. I believe the reasoning was a command ship with a focus on science/coms capacities over the constitution’s more rounded capabilities and maneuverability. The Lexington, Constitution refit, and Excelsior are a beautiful trio. As are the Ulysses, Missouri, and Yamato class battleships.

  • @Immortal-Headcase

    I noticed the green beam did bugger all to the shields but messed up the hull when the shields were down. Reminds me of the Borg cutting beam to be honest.

    I think both the Lexington & Missouri belong in STO. Those were fantastic designs in Klingon Academy. Those beefy pylons on the Lexington gave me the impression that ship was built for some serious fighting. The Missouri was an absolute TANK!
    And on a tangent, I kinda wish STO would use the ST:TMP "thunderclap" torpedo sound for "high yield" shots. That was my fav torpedo sound effect ever! Had some serious teeth to it!

    Don't fire at his bridge, you might kill his pet targ. 😄
    While cloaking, according to Generations, yes. But that's a Next Generation torpedo. However, when Kirk hacked the Klingon shields... one was enough (let's not waste ammo 😆)
    Oh no... now you're bringing back more memories. (Scotty) : He stayed at his post while the other cadets ran.😔
    As for disruptors, yes. Energy weapons break down shields. That's why the Defiant was equipped with phasers that fired like disruptors.

  • @poil8351
    @poil8351 4 месяца назад +3

    of course chang had a specially modified bird of prey which could fire torppedos when cloaked. so it probably also had modified shields.

  • @_BLACKSTAR_

    The Duras sisters were in a bird of prey B'Rel class.way smaller and less armored than a K'Tinga

    • @MegaZeta
      @MegaZeta 4 месяца назад +2

      The point he's making is rather that Chang was apparently in a ship similar to that of the Duras sisters', and that seemed to take a few photon torpedos before it went up. But the reality of it is that Star Trek, in terms of the movies and the shows, is rightly unconcerned with such trivialities.

    • @_BLACKSTAR_
      @_BLACKSTAR_ 4 месяца назад +1

      @@MegaZeta You said nothing against my point of a B'rell class is way smaller and less armored than a K'Tinga.
      The Duras sisters ship blew up with one torp unshielded because of my above stated point.
      RBG is in error to imply that the 2 ships are even close to similar in ability to take punishment.

    you know I always wondered what the story with the lexington class was, as I always thought this was a beautiful design but could never figure out where i had seen it and when, as those interplay boys between this, the TMP dreadnought and the Okinawa Class, really knew how to design some proper cool ships, and I REALLY wish Eaglemoss would have made a model of them
    that and the premonition, also this almost seems like an advanced form of a Frigate, kinda like an inbetween of the advanced heavy cruiser and the old Enterprise in SFC
    as I really like the look of it with the old style pylons mixed with the new, although its almost too sleak and too close together, like its missing something, like a lower torpedo launcher under the engineering section, just to stick out and give it some definition
    actually you know what it is, this is a TMP version of one of the wrecks from the best of both worlds, just sands a pair of engines
    like a TMP version of the New Orleans class, as that was a mini galaxy, this is a mini excelsior with a giant green punching beam
    which would explain why this seems so familiar yet different, like we've seen it before, just in a different form.

The style is nice and special beam wow. for the era , Section 31 , just saying. lol. and Kronos One. gosh.. That name I have flashbacks of ''Undiscovered Country'' wow. and was tough too. hmm.. Battlecruiser and Chancellor Gorkon, I liked him.. Chang eeh. had is special little toy. lol PS2 Encounters.. Gosh.. no phasers on Klingon ships, just disruptors.. this one I need to replay to see, forgot. gosh.. Even the Defiant, just pulse phasers, and no phaser, but here has one hmm.. and if ships have it, well only an angle part to fire if out of that angle pff,. need to turn the ship around eeh. I just beam the enemies power and weapons lol. I would say the same, whom at the controls and tactics.. great battle loved it!😊🖖

    K'Tingas are reckoned to be about half as powerful as the Connie Refit. However, Kronos 1 was the flagship of the Empire and was better armored, armed and had superior shields than the average K'Tinga. The Lexington Class looks like a heavy cruiser, so probably still a bit superior to Kronos 1.

  • @TrentonBennett
    @TrentonBennett 4 месяца назад +1

    I agree that the Lexington looks like if a Connie Refit and an Excelsior class mated and that was the result lmao. Other than that it's a cool ship.
    This was a fun one to watch. I agree seemed like a proper match from Klingon Academy. Sadly I sucked at that game. Strangely enough, I was much better at Starfleet Academy.
    Both ships are evenly matched and I agree it comes down to the Captain, really.
    As far as Kronos One taking one torpedo.... it just showed what happened in the game. Maybe in real life...but I think Kronos One has some strong armor. It's not your average K'tinga. It was the Chancellor's flag ship.

    Suggestion for a new weapon: That Last Torpedo. It's always that last torpedo that does what all other torpedoes before it failed to do, so might as well have a super-duper powerful one, even more powerful than transphasic torpedoes, that can one shot pretty much anything. 😛

  • @Renserin
    @Renserin 4 месяца назад +1

    Score one for the Kronos One. That's the first time I've seen it outright win a battle. While yeah, the Lexington was probably the better ship, the proportions feel just a little bit off, in a way I can't quite explain.

    In Klingon ships if their bridge is destroyed they had their secondary bridge in engineering. and their second officer was always in engineering or chief engineer to provide continuity of command.

  • @ondank
    @ondank 3 месяца назад

    The explosive power of a photon torpedo is one of the most inconsistent facts in star trek. About a gram of anti matter, when reacted with matter would result in a 40 kiloton explosion, which is more powerful than both world war 2 nukes combined. I highly doubt federation warheads only contained just a gram. Nothing a starship is plated with should be able to protect against that. If I remember, in Q who they say that firing a photon torpedo at the borg cube when it was so close would destroy the enterprise too. If one torpedo detonating too close would destroy a galaxy it should basically take out anything.
    And yet we see ships get pounded by torpedos and survive. So even when they say the shields have failed, all I can assume is that they mean that its still doing enough to cause the warheads to detonate, at reasonable range but basically isn't doing much to mitigate force anymore. Because otherwise the shields failing should basically just be the same as calling for an abandon ship.
