Virtual Voices of the Game: Mike Lum

Former big leaguer Mike Lum joins us as we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month. The son of a Japanese mother and an American father, Lum was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and adopted by Chinese parents. He played 15 seasons in the big leagues, holding the record for many years (since surpassed) for most games played by a native of Hawaii. One of only six players in history to pinch-hit for Hank Aaron, Lum will discuss his career and take questions from the audience.

Lum was always one of my favorite Braves. When he got the chance to play regularly in 1971, he made the most of it.
