Holl is a plus 48 in 234 NHL games and doesn't benefit from playing first pairing D to syphon off of M&M. Holl has elite gap control especially through the neutral zone where he thwarts plays before they become entires. Speaking of entries, Holl, while not physical, keeps opponents to the outside where he rides them off and pins them against the boards so a teammate can retrieve the puck, with regularity. Holl also stops the cycle with good reads and a long reach. Holl also leads the Leafs in PK minutes and did last season as well. The Leafs PK was 7th in the NHL last season. The PK unit goes up against the league's top offensive players. Holl is a shot blocking machine. Yes, he handcuffs himself with the puck at times, but to focus on that and ignore the rest is to lack an overall understanding of the game. There's a reason the coaching staff, who put in hours and hours of detailed game footage assessment of their team an players value Holl. Holl's weakness is transitioning the puck fluidly. That has impoved this season. Holl has excelled in 1st pairing duties since this spate of injuries.
@@gordonbgraham well said Gordon. He does alot of good that doesn’t get acknowledged. And when he does make mistakes the fans and media are all over him. Yet he has stepped up in the absence of the other defence and his game has improved. Thank you for acknowledging him and pointing out all the good he does !!! Good on ya
wow, what is it with these boys and their intense song choices... i'd pay a whole lot to see mitchy performing the even sadder dancing on my own cover version he apparently loves and then holler doing kesha's praying right after. (jeesh.)
Holl, I respect your ability to withstand the Toronto hockey market
No shit eh. Guy is a scapegoat for everything on the team
@@jordanshine3504 I respect his willingness to go into corners
I feel same, but his play this year has stifled those negative Norm’s
Can't wait for the next two to do this. Also hope they do this with the people who are injured when they return. Go leafs go.
I think they did this on media day but I don’t know.
Holl having a great season this year. I was one of his biggest critics but he's completely changed my mind this season.
