Hi, nice to see you back. I think the long duster looks fabulous, I adore the colours however , duster 2, i would take what looks like cuffs of the sleeves, and I would shorten the body and square off the hem. I hope you get a resolve that means you enjoy wearing the jacket and shorts together. Happy sewing 😊
Thank you!!! Yes all good advice re the duster. The sleeves are too stiff and I’ve had lots of suggestions to shorten it as well which I will definitely pin up and see but I actually think that it’s the print which overwhelms me…. 🤔 😂. Thank you! ☺️
I had the same thought before reading this comment. I think the change in proportions could change your feelings about it- love the print on you!
@@Fiddlenstitchthank you!!! It definitely needs something! 😂
Thanks for sharing !! That Pink top is gorgoeus on you! I absolutely love that blue duster! It’s stunning! And so elegant
❤️ thank you Rachael 🥰
All your makes are gorgeous but your last duster is absolutely GORG. 😍 I wish I could sew as quickly as you. You are so speedy.
Ah thank you!!! I’ve made this a few times before so that definitely helps with speed!! 😂
Great vlog as always. Very good makes you look great in all of them ❤️❤️
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you! Lovely makes!
Thank you! ☺️
Gorgeous makes as always ❤❤ I reckon shorten the first duster and the sleeves too so it’s similar to the one you showed in the photo. The long duster is Devine wow what a lovely item ❤
Thank you!!! I think I may make a new top from the duster, hoping I can squeeze an Andi top from it!! 🥰😂
Hi there. Your makes are very nice. I really like the long duster - glad you figured out how to take advantage of that beautiful print. I appreciate your focus on what you know you will wear. I agree with a number of other viewers that you may like the multi color duster with cars on it if it were shorter, and maybe make the sleeves a bit more narrow. The fabric has “camp shirt” vibes.
Yes thank you!!! I’m not keen on camp shirts on me so I think that’s part of it. It’s going to need to be made into something else i think 🥰
I absolutely love the fabric you described as clouds in neutral colours - you will look fabulous in that.
Such a shame about the shirt you aren’t keen on - I thought it looked lovely especially with the white top you had on - I wonder if you would feel different about it with different trousers/ shorts maybe denim?!?! Or shorten the sleeves a bit?
Your duster robe in the blue and white is just stunning!!! It looks so chic- and expensive!!!!❤❤❤ live it x
Ah thank you Angela! 🥰. I’ve been making the jumpsuit with the cloud fabric today, it’s looking good so far! I think I need to re make the stiffer shirt / duster!! 🫣😂❤️
It’s lovely to see you back , liking all of your makes ( thankyou) ..funny when you were expressing doubt over your lady McElroy jacket I was thinking ‘ what is she on about it looks lovely - great colours ‘ and then you showed your blue duster and I could see what you meant …maybe it’s to do with the way the fabric drapes ? I dunno but the colours of the lady McElroy are so perfect for you , would it be possible for you to repurpose into another garment . I’m currently patchworking fabrics from failed blouses so I can cut out another project ( Birgitta hemersson crop shirt ) ….
Thank you so much, you have actually set my mind racing to sort the issue!!! When I was on holiday I reached for my Pomona shorts and sleeveless tops more than anything so I think I need to try and re cut the duster into a little cami or something to match the shorts!! Genius thank you!! 🤩
I love watching your videos Sarah, you give so much inspiration - I did have to go and purchase the viscose poplin xx
Ah thank you!!! Ooh that’s exciting you won’t regret it I’m sure, I’ve just finished my jumpsuit in that fabric and I absolutely love it!! What are you planning to make with it? xx
@@sewsarahstyle Oh can't wait to see this - I mostly sew with knit fabric but want to take the leap into woven - I have such a large fabric collection xx
Don’t we all! 🫣😂
Sarah I wish that I could sew as quickly as you. I absolutely love your long duster,it is just stunning in that wave fabric. I am not so keen on the short duster as I think the multi coloured fabric overwhelms you and it is just not your style.I would keep the shorts and rehome the duster.I always enjoy your videos and am already looking forward to your next one,Thank you.🌹🌹🌹
Ah thank you so much, yes I completely agree with you!! The fabric is too much and I plan to re cut it into a small top to match the shorts. It’s funny how some things suit and others don’t! 😂🥰❤️
Your duster number 3, the last one in the blue circles fabric, is gorgeous. For me, the difference between that one and the second one, is the proportions between the length and the sleeves. At that length, I think if you removed the bottom part of the sleeve and had a shorter, straighter, sleeve, it would look better. I guess that fabric hasn't quite as much drape and a is bit more structured. Great sewing, whatever.
Thank you!!! It definitely needs some serious tweaking!! 🫣😂
I think the top and shorts would be great daywear rather than just p.j's. They look very smart and the fabric is lovely.
Thank you! They actually got worn loads on holiday as daywear, they were perfect on the heat! 🥰
Lovely makes 😊
Thank you!! ☺️
Sarah I think your top and shorts are fabulous xx
Ah thank you Elizabeth! 😊
The last duster is stunning! Maybe the car fabric does not have the gorgeous drape that the blue and white border print has, necessary for that duster style.
Thank you!! Yes I think that’s definitely the case. I plan to re cut a different top from the duster to match the shorts!! 🥰
Oh wow, how sensational is that long duster! I do love the mountain scene fabric. I made seguaro pants and Saturday skirt set wrap top but I’ve never worn them. Too much belly reveal on the wrap but I need to give the trousers a go. I love the orange shade for a T-shirt, maybe that would work better. I think, for me, a set in that fabric is too much of a good thing 😂😂 maybe the shorts and duster top just need separate lives to be happy 🙃😜
😂 thank you Julie! Yes you’ve hit the nail on the head there, it’s definitely too much together I think! I love the shorts, but to be honest I think the print is too overwhelming for me, I’m more of a plain or animal print girl I think!!! I love your set, definitely wear them separately with perhaps a vest top underneath for extra belly warmth 🤪😂
Have you tried shortening the top of make 2? Hope that helps. Lovely makes as always.
Ah I’ve missed you! Have you thought about taking the sleeves off number 2 duster? That was what I noticed first - the sleeves sticking out. And maybe a little belt too, to pull it open a bit ( like number 3).
Thank you!!! Yes the sleeves do stick out and I think it’s partly due to the stiffness of the fabric. I may try removing them and shortening it, but I’m not sure the print suits me either! 🫣❤️
Maybe a few washes will soften the jacket. I think it looks nice.
Ah thank you!! I think it needs to be re made into something else though to be honest! 🫣😂
Hi
Lovely makes as always
Perhaps a belt would work on the short robe as well
Have a lovely week xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh thank you! I’m not sure even a belt would rescue it! 🫣😂😂. Wishing you a lovely week too ❤️
Thank you Sarah xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Sarah, I really like your mountain fabric shorts and duster. What if you shortened the jacket ? Make it into a boxy shirt. x
Thank you!! Yes I definitely plan to make the top into something else to get some wear out of it. 🥰
Hi Sarah, brilliant as always! Love your vlogs and makes. As the resident Naya expert (😊), do you think it would be possible to make the Naya from a woven fabric? Perhaps with an altered neckline?
Ah thank you so much!! Yes definitely try the Naya in a woven, I’ve made a few with a ribbed neckline and Katie from whatever Katie sews on Instagram has made the high slash neckline hack! Good luck!! 😉
HI Sarah! I'm sorry you were disappointed with the shorter duster. I think there were 2 issues with that fabric, if you don't mind me saying. You and I are on the slightly shorter side, and fabrics like that one don't always suit us. There are too many colors and the print is too busy to be used in a larger piece like a duster. I think it needed to be broken up with a lighter, plain fabric. The more structured nature of the fabric is also not a petite person's friend. It does look more like a man's camp shirt and the bottom of the sleeves stick out instead of being flowy. The floor length duster on the other hand is a stunning success because it sticks to a color palette and has such a nice, easy drape and when you cinch it in with the ties, it's just so flattering too. I've never had total success with any of the Mood patterns, which is a shame as they do have a huge library of free patterns. Thanks for sharing. I love watching your vlogs.
Yes yes and yes!!! 🥰. I totally agree with all your points thank you!! 😮💨 😂❤️. I don’t like camp shirts on me and that’s absolutely what this feels like!! I’m going to try and re cut it into a smaller top to match the shorts as I like the colour of the print. Thank you always for your wise advice, it’s much appreciated! 🥰❤️
@@sewsarahstyle You are so nice. Thank you. I can't wait to see which shirt the duster turns into!
I think maybe that multicoloured set you don't think looks quite right on you looks quite nice, but needed to be drapier on you in that particular print perhaps. I think that particular one might look better on you if cut more cropped, like high hip level. I think it's because the print overwhelms you. You are used to more of a simple monochrome palate or a print that isn't quite so busy if it has more colours in it. Fold up and pin the hemline and see what you think. It will be nothing like your vision, but I think it might look quite cute.
I was thinking the same thing. Personally, I think it would look better on you with a shorter, boxier shape. 😍
Yes!! I think that’s exactly it, I feel overwhelmed by the print and colour combination 😂. I’ve had so many suggestions to shorten it, so will definitely pin it up and try it thank you, even though my gut feeling is that the colour/ print is too much. ❤️
Thank you!! Will definitely pin it up and try it ❤️
Love all your makes and spectacular long duster. Your shorter one is lovely too and I think you right if it doesn’t feel right you won’t wear it.I think as you have a small frame it’s probably more square on you so doesn’t fall in the way the long one does. Lovely nonetheless xx
Where did you get your thread spool wreath? Every time I watch your videos, I see it in the background and I just love it.
Ah thank you!! It was given to me by a friend who had picked it up at a craft market somewhere, sorry I don’t know any more than that!!
Love that fabric you got from Sister Mintaka Would it be heavy enough for loose trousers?
Ooh yes it’s got a little bit of body and would make some gorgeous trousers!!!
I could not understand where you said the seashell fabric is from… could you please let me know? It’s stunning.
Ah yes, sorry I forgot to include it in the notes. It’s Sister Mintaka. Thanks. ☺️
@@sewsarahstylethanks!
With make number 2, would you like it more with plain shorts?
I think the print is overwhelming to be honest, I’m going to try and re cut it into a smaller top to go with the shorts!!! 🥰
Crop the Lady McElroy robe to waist length.
Thank you, it definitely needs something doing to it!! 🫣😂. However I think I’m going to try and re cut it into a smaller top so it’s not so overwhelming. 😊
Maybe if you crop the duster with the cars on it?
Hi, yes that’s a suggestion a few people have made and I’m going to try and pin it up and see if it helps!! Still not sure about the fabric though! Thank you!! 🥰
CLC printing I think does A4 PDF stitching if you're ever in need in the future
Ooh thank you for that, yes I’ll definitely check that out as I use CLC, they offer such a brilliant service, I hadn’t seen the A4 service though thanks!! ☺️
the duster looks lovely i just think the sleeves are too long. other wise lovely!
Ah thank you!! I’ve had a few suggestions to shorten the sleeves, so will give it a go. I still think the pattern overwhelms me a bit though! 🫣😂
Sarah why don’t you shorten the length of your duster jacket?
Thank you! Yes I’m definitely going to try that option, but I’m not sure it will save it as I think the print / pattern is just too far out of my comfort zone! 🫣😂
I think u can shorten it see how it looks
Thank you, I think im going to re create something else with the fabric to go with the shorts! 🥰
