I lost one of my babies due to miscarriage. 2 of the boys survived. Let me tell you : I will rather give birth naturally than to go through this d & c. The pain is unexplainable. To those who think that abortion doesn’t hurt you down there: think again. My cousin’s partner had 3-4 abortions and did this procedure. She died because of these procedures and didn’t look after herself and heal fully. Ladies, becareful.
You do know that a D&C is not just for abortions, right? I just had one for polyps and cancer biopsies a few weeks ago. Make sure you understand what you are talking about before making judgements on people.
This is used to remove thick lining of the uterus to help relieve symptoms of endometriosis. Pain and excessive bleeding. An option over a hysterectomy in my case. I had this done.
I had a D&C in 2015. Information I got from the Internet plus my sister who had one, told me prior to the procedure that there'd be some "slight cramping" afterward...I woke up from the anastesia with the worst cramps I ever had in my life. There was a nurse on a machine that was giving me slow, small amounts of pain killer. It must have taken almost 30 minutes for the pain to come down -- it was pure agony!! My sister told me that I will probably have to go through that procedure only once. Once is enough for me. If I need another one, I'll suffer first.
@nykkidome @dream.big.dreams mine wasn't for a miscarriage. I had been having months of unexplained excessive bleeding so they did a D & C then put in an IUD. Been well controlled ever since
I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mother in a car accident near my home. I ran to be there and was near her when she died. I would have been holding her hand, but an officer would not let me. I wish I been beside her. You are fortunate to have been able to be beside your mom.
yes thats true we had the medics to the house twice the final time they could not do anything for her she was hospice patient . she died feb 3rd 2018@@Dream.big.dreams
All it did was thin out my uterine walks. After 9 miscarriages the doctor said he didn't have to do that. It was the operation du jour, making money. I ended up with a hysterectomy 8 fibroid tumors. Hysterectomies were the operation that they did until the medical officials decided they were being done to make money, not for health reasons. That made it hard to get one.
Prior to Roe versus Wade, coat hangers were often used by the poor in desperation. District `Angel Makers´ (often a medical assistant). A D&C was referred to in crude vernacular as getting a `Scrape´.
All of this, with absolutely nothing to numb anything, at all. Then they tell you you're gonna feel a "slight pinch".... slight pinch, my ass! The pain is unimaginable, and being a woman who's never been pregnant (I have an IUD, didn't get this specific procedure) the pain is unexplainable... after I get my IUD out in another 9 years or so, I think imma just go abstinent 😅
So true. Had a miscarriage and had to have it done. There are women who are dying from miscarriages because of state laws banning abortion. Basically, a woman has to be nearly dead, in sepsis before she can be helped and sometimes not even then. It’s appalling
@@nancyemima7791 why does this suegery procedure is done like that without anaesthesia do you know? and why dos you need you have this done? I mean the porpouse
"Gently Scrape"???? Apparently, You've never, EVER had a D&C, while conscious!!! I'd just delivered a Very Premature Baby, and the placenta didn't release. If they gave me general anesthesia, I'd be unconscious when/if my baby passed, so they simply gave me enough Demerol to knock out a Moose, and I was still, literally Deliriously SCREAMING, at the Top of My Lungs, as the ObGyn "Gently Scraped" the uterine interior.
What is this done for? I had something done, once under sedation another no, I don't know why they did but I was told I had HPV vaccine so not worry about cancer there. Don't know what it was!

Not sure but taking this tissue n looking at it under the microscope may detect uterine cancer??? Some people have the lining of their uterus grow..this skims that excess off.
Read above answers. This is done for many other reasons. It is done for miscarriages. Heavy periods, I believe polpos and more. In the case of a miscarriage it can be a life saving procedure.
@@Sharon-cd9lp yes I know that it's done for other reasons also. But back when abortions were illegal they used to give a D&C to a woman with a viable pregnancy to cause a miscarriage and not have to call it an actual abortion. They used it as a way to get around the law..

Wtf?!!! Lmmfao!!!

My wife had that done why don't they numb the insides that way the woman does not have that much pain and start screaming
I think that's because a numbing agent or anesthesia could affect/pollute the endometrial sample.
Because it costs them too much money
Pap smears are painful.
Thank goodness I don't have to do that anymore.
I tore down the factory and fired the crew!
This is a d&c not a pap smear.

Even if you've had a total hysterectomy, you still got get pap smears to check for vaginal cancer
