    Yay!!!! Another osc sink op6 vid. This series is helping a lot-I’m spending more time exploring the opsix than with any other synth in the room… truly a wonderful instrument.
    This youtube series is really a public service, thank you.

    And here I was thinking I was close to mastering the Opsix. These tips and tricks are awesome, had never even thought of these! Even something as simple as controlling a fixed operator's cutoff with its pitch knob, just to use its filter for its input/modulator, is mind blowing to me. Great videos man

    As a eurorack user, all this talk of wave folding and modulation makes my insides tickle 🤗 thank you for making this!

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  2 года назад +1

      As also a eurorack user: same! Both this and the Modwave incorporate a lot of ideas from the world of modular and it's great (you can "patch together" operators much in the same way you can modules on the opsix for example).

      @@OscillatorSink Have you had much experience trying to sync the Opsix or Modwave with your rack? I assume I could drive it with Pam's or use a CV to midi converter and just sequence it from the rack.

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  2 года назад +1

      @@jammystraub488 I haven't, but should he fine. I'd probably just use Digitone/takt to send midi to one and din sync to the other. Or use cvocd as a go between. Either should work I reckon.

    Korg are killing it with these synths

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  3 года назад +1

      The opsix feels like a synth designed by someone with a real joy for synthesis. It's a very happy synth.

    • @SendyTheEndless
      @SendyTheEndless 3 года назад +1

      @@OscillatorSink Yes between this and the Wavestate, I've never seen so many innovative and affordable new synths in one time period! This could have been a 1:1 reproduction of some fashionable old synth, but it's better for not being that.

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  3 года назад +2

      @@SendyTheEndless I honestly think that the association with "that old FM synth" actually hurts the opsix in terms of people's perception of it. I think it gets written off as "an updated DX7" and it's so much more than that.

  • @hermask815
    @hermask815 3 года назад +6

    Just an idea: if some of the parts (branches) of an DX7 algorithms were used to simulate other waveforms…
    then you could import them, trim that branch buy substituting with the real waveform and then expand it again.

    Thanks! Your in-depth videos are really nice. I just wish, you would use the lower registers more often... ;-) I think it is easier to hear the harmonic content of a sound then.

    Some hint from me: in "Misc" you can copy operaters very easy. Do your operater in 4 and copy it to 5 and 6. So it is an fast workflow

    This is the best demo of the wavefolding in Opsix so far. Still, everyone seems timid about showing any examples of so-called "non musical" patches; the kind of thing that Buchla intended. I'm looking for something that takes to the next level what the Volca Modular does . So far the VM is wholly unique on the non-eurorack synthesizer market right now.

    You are just blowing my mind! I got my first synth about a year ago, the Deepmind 12. Picked up with it pretty quick and I really like it. Since, I bought a couple Analog Mono synths, no issue with those either. This OPSIX though...dude, this thing is a monster. I have been watching your videos and i think "cool, but how do I use it in a practical purpose?" Really looking forward to some of your patch videos so I can look back through these vids and get a better understanding of how to use all this in a sound design landscape. Thanks again for all you do!!!!! 👍✌

    Hello and thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've learned so much from your videos.
    I'm attempting to use filter mode in both series and parallel to simulate the multimode SEM filter of the oberheims. I'd be very interested in your thoughts on the best way to go about it. I've had some great results but your in depth knowledge of sound design would be greatly appreciated.

    This video and the rest of opsix series you´ve made are excellent. Since I sold my DX7 back in 1997 I haven´t bougth any synth yet (except for a NTS1 a couple of month ago) I´m really considering to get one of theese but the lack of atertouch and no exp pedal input kind of pushes me back. Anyway I could consider it as a desktop module with extra keys if i knew it responds to aftertouch via midi controller. Does it?
    Your videos shoud have wwwwaay more likes. Thank you

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! Aftertouch is a modulation source in the Vpatch, so if you have a controller that sends aftertouch then you can patch that all up!

    Can you do a deep dive into the mute and bypass modes?

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  2 года назад +1

      The bypass mode passes through the operator above unaffected. The mute mode generates no sound and passes no sound from the operator above. Pretty short video. Might be good for engagement though.
