Regardless of what anyone says, this was a great movie in my opinion. Just because Superman wasn't punching a super villain in the face, people couldn't stand it... but c'mon, Brando's speech makes everything worthwhile.
"Live as one of them, Kal-El, to discover where your strength and your power are needed. Always hold in your heart the pride of your special heritage. They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only son."
Make no mistake: the kryptonite that lex drove into the side of Superman’s waistline had weaken him into the state and vulnerability of that of a human. Falling into that water from that height in the pain he’s in, he could’ve died upon impact if not for Jason spotting him.
this movie was great. i wish people would have stopped their bitching because they would have gotten a film with brainiac. not only that, brainiac would have killed jason so everybody's favorite plot hole would have been been erased. did i forget to mention that there would be superman and brainiac fighting in the fortress of solitude?
Ready for an unpopular opinion? I loved Man of Steel. And I also loved Superman Returns. They are so different but with really unique souls and they really try to put Superman, as a character, into something more than just a cool looking superhero.
Superman can't as much as he wants to he believes he is not the law he believes he is neither judge, jury, nor executioner and he is always afraid to let loose and use his true potential because he doesn't want to kill them.
I understand that's Marlon Brando's voiceover as Jor El and Marlon Brando passed away on July 1, 2004 and this Superman Returns movie went in theaters in June 2006, so does that mean that they finished filming this Superman Returns movie in June 2004 if Marlon Brando passed away in July 2004?
This was recorded in the original superman 1 and 2. There's a longer cut of Superman 1 that has some extra scenes. A lot of Superman 2 was re-shot when Richard Donner was fired, and everything with Brando was removed and replaced with Lara (Suzanna York). But there's a Richard Donner version of Superman 2 which is very interesting to see. Not quite as good, but I think if you edited those scenes back into the cinematic release, it would be excellent.
@@novoeduardoac1248 Late reply and thank you. I also learned that Marlon Brando died long before they finished filming this movie and the scene in the beginning of the movie showing his head, the director did a CGI of his head.
@@adamskijh This reply is late and yes, I also learned that Marlon Brando died long before this movie was made. Plus, that scene showing his head on the movie was a CGI made of head.
DC comics has covered the subject of remoreseless heroes who kill. It was called "kingdom Come" In this world all the heroes killed the villains with impunity and with little care to the surroundings. Innocents got hurt all in the name of "defeating the villain". The point is some heroes Kill, some don't and see a better way in life.
Honestly it would've been better if they an extra ten second scene where Superman goes after Lex. It would've added a resolution to this film instead of leaving a gigantic loose end left untied.
If you remember correctly, he was pushing a continent of kryptonite into space. So if he struggle breathing underwater when he was stab with kryptonite, he shouldn't be chilling out in outer space pushing a continent of kryptonite. Here's 2 other thing about Superman. Superman can hear in space, but sound cannot travel through space because it has no air for the sound to travel, it has nothing for the sound to travel. Another thing, Superman talked in outerspace too!
Superman can breathe in space. Last I check, the ocean isn't space. In the cartoons, there are times when people try to drown Superman and in the comics it says that Superman holds his breath underwater but breathes in space.
I accepted someone else's response to this (he was stabbed with kryptonite which made him lose his powers) which I didn't even think about and it makes sense. Your response doesn't though. There's no air in space. If he can't breath underwater (without kryptonite affecting him) then he shouldn't be able to breath in space.
Allelujah, his father and him KNOW that there's good in humanity, KNOWS that there IS change and the capacity for change in humanity, that they DO need guidance and they'll get better, even ones like Lex, who simply just needs to be revealed for who he really is and pushed back and broken down to his knees before he can change and be forgiven, :). But I LOVED the fact that he changed in all star superman at the end, it was good, even before execution, that was beautiful, LOVE the spiritual con-
Been reading your comments from the past few days just now, now taking aside the main point that he had a chunk of kryptonite stabbed into him... Superman isn't Aquaman, now his kryptonian lung capacity allows him to be submerged for a much longer period (hence his super/arctic breath ability), but he doesn't have lungs so can't stay underwater forever. ...continuing on...
@Primetome As much as we all would love to see that, this embodies the same principle as Batman and Joker's relationship; one without the other is incomplete. Every hero needs a perfect counterpart. The Joker is the perfect counterpart to Batman, and likewise, Lex is the perfect counterpart to Supes.
Rado Rado oh hey man I didn’t think you would actually respond because the comment was so old haha but that’s great I’m happy you enjoyed both of the films 😄 did you watch crisis and are you excited for the Snyder cut?
Provided I haven't lost the ability to post comments, I submit the following possibility: Superman's Kryptonian lungs are of a different structure than human lungs. Therefore, he can hold his breath indefinitely, either underwater or in a vacuum. However, his abilities are weakened by Kryptonite. Thank you.
... and finally, your comment to firestorm about you accepting that superman lost his power due to the green kryptonite, green kryptonite doesn't take away a Kryptonian's abilities even if they are stabbed, they just severely weaken the abilities, and as long as green kryptonite is around them they are subject to a somewhat mortal human life, but doesn't mean they don't have their abilities still.

continuing... Now as for space, you don't seem to have taken into account his Kryptonian, not human, so the same laws of physics probably don't apply to a Kryptonian as they would us (granted that they are 'under' the yellow sun) so we can assume that the ability to breathe in space comes from the power they get from the yellow sun.
If Superman pointed them in the right direction of the city then headed in the opposite direction to go to Lex. How in the hell did they pass him and see Superman drowning.
@othablandjr That is exactly what they did. I really appreciated how they did that instead of using some random, cheezy voice actor who would try to imitate his voice hahaha
We know superman is the strongest guy in the universe but I noticed once he getting weaker he didn't know how to fight hand to hand kombat he just depending to hes own power unlike batman he has no power but he can stand a chance to beat those jerks one by one using the hand to hand kombat and he can find a way out
Lex is much better suited as a side-villain than the main dish, you should have a super-villain then add lex in it as the dessert 'bad-guy'. All he has is an inferiority complex against superman
Yeah Luthor's plan in this movie never made much sense to me. It gets even more foolish when you see the land mass is completely barren. No vegetation or any other usable natural resources so it would be very hard for anyone to live there for even a few hours.
+devilpupbear09 Perhaps maybe he should bail his other henchman Otis out of jail for more ideas since Otis was put back in jail on the second film and it's unknown where his other henchman Miss Techmacher is but, most importantly he could get his nephew Lenny Luthor for help getting him out of "Boys Town" since Superman sent Lenny there at the end of the fourth film and plus, Lex said that Lenny worships him.
Scientifically speaking, there is no way that kryptonite can turn steel into human flesh N bones....! So that weakness was given to Superman by the stupid writers/authors. 😠😠😠
