We Americans are a strange people, yes? :P But seriously, yeah, there are churches that are predomately black, there are churches that are predomately white. Which raises the question: where do the Asian-Americans go to church? Why don't we hear of their places?
Because you haven't done enough research. The *Korean American Presbyterian Church* has 817 congregations with a total of 81,500 members (according to the 2016 World Almanac). Two other Korean churches in the U.S. each have even more congregations and more members. The *Native American Church of North America* has 400 congregations and 200,000 members. But in general, churches are not that exclusive and may have service in more than one language, e.g., English and Spanish.
The separation of church and state is very important in the U.S. Unlike in some countries, the U.S. government does not endorse, nor can it restrict or prohibit, any religion. Various churches are thus free to form, and people are free to join.
not quite. but it actually illustrates a great point about the racial divide in America. anyone is welcome in pretty much any church; in fact I grew up going to a predominantly black church. but in the areas where I lived at least, white people tend to go to almost all white churches, and black folks tend to go to black churches. it's one of the big holdovers from segregation.
I will also say this: I also went to white churches growing up and I hated them. they were boring as hell for me because I've always been agnostic, even as a child. but at the mostly black church I used to attend with my friend's family, I was almost a believer for a few hours every Sunday haha.
