I'd like to know before buying one as I heard bad things about alapahas. I thought the merel genetics came from the Catahoula leopard dog you see. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I have had my pitbull for over 4yrs he looks just like this dog except mine is grey black and white. He has a emerald colored eye and a brownish eye that changes color. I rescued him and his paper work says "Catahoula Leopard" mix. He just looks 100% pitbull. So you are absolutely correct!!
American pit bull terriers don't produce Merle dog's with out having something crossed in that has the Merle gene. Merle is considered a disqualifying fault by all the registeries that recognize the American pit bull terrier such as. ADBA ,BFKC, SDR,UKC Because it is a sure sign that something was crossed into the dog. People have been mixing the Catahoula Leopard dog and the American pit bull terrier for a very long time. As the mix makes good hunting dog's. There's something different about the Merle gene that the Catahoula has that prevents some of the defects. That Other breeds that have the Merle gene don't have.
Forget the dogs. Cause’ for me It is that “gold” chained & spiked looking collars that impress me the most. Undeniably worn by the dogs to match the guy in this video’s cool looking ‘barbed wired’ tattoos on his flabby arms. 😂
These dogs aren’t healthy. They’re poorly bred mutts. Purebred does not equal well bred, that’s not what I’m saying. I know of a lot of people who will mix different breeds together to produce good, quality working dogs. But this? These dogs can barely walk, bow legged, weird unnatural chests. That one dog, Sultan, his eyes didn’t even look straight at the camera and the owner/breeder claimed that he was the best dog they’ve ever produced. If that’s the best they produced, all they do is produce culls because every single one of those dogs are culls. They’re a supposed bully breed and didn’t even go after that pig at all. I bet any game bred pup would’ve nailed one of those pigs. These aren’t well bred dogs by any means and don’t deserve the price they fetch.
@@DinosEatMeat4 I fully agree with you! Their "best" pup looks like what you buy from a byb bred mutt. I love my dogs, dont get me wrong, but I wish I would have bought from reputable breeders instead.) However, seeing these dogs fetch the prices they do, and that they publicly breed and sell literall deformed mutts for that price I think its worse than buying from a byb. Working dogs, will have a distinctive drive. Because they were bred to do it. These dogs lack ALL drive. They are only bred for color, not health, temperament or improving a already bad rep breed. Poor pups.
They're beautiful and expensive! Love the babies too, so adorable but the price...tempting but oohhh! $10k is the same amount I spent yearly to donate to the shelters and I never miss doing it.
The merle gene is known to cause a number of health problems, mostly deafness and blindness, and also sun sensitivity and skin cancer. These problems are unusual in heterozygous merles (Mm) but unfortunately common in double merles (MM). For this reason two merles should never be bred together, as this will result in some double merle puppies. Hidden Merle and Cryptic Merle Hidden merle are Merle dogs (mM), who do not exhibit the merle pattern (it is usually not detectable to eye in red, gold, fawn or cream colours). Then you got the Color dilution alopecia (CDA) is a genetic recessive inherited condition that causes patches of hair thinning or loss, and may also include flaky and/or itchy skin. The condition is associated with individuals who have what is called “dilute” color😣😣😣

And you would know how professional they are by watching a video? They have been breeding for generations. They have people who want their dogs calling from all over the world. What “aspects” do you find them to be unprofessional in? They are dog breeders.
@@MrJRW1 YES... you can tell how professional they are by watching this video. Don't be a DA Jimmy boy... He didn’t go into detail but he pretty much said that. That’s only if you breed two merles. If you have a Merle and you stud him out, you shouldn’t have any of those issues unless you breed him with Merle female. He said that. I’ve seen a catahoula leopard dog that was offspring of two merles...on eyeball had no pupil. Completely blind and just a huge bluish white retina.

Big dogs, but very unhealthy

I raise Bullies and yes, the larger the dog, the more unhealthy and the shorter the lifespan. It comes with the territory. Still, you can get a dog, not over feed it to stat pad, and exercise it regularly to lower health risks.
My bully was this size and we just lost him a month ago after 12 years. He was one of the healthiest dog you can’t judge based on appearance. Eventhough I will say some people just breed for the money and don’t care about health.
Adan Pacheco - You were one of the lucky ones. Back in the 80’s when I started raising dogs it was all about health and education about breeds. Now it’s all about taking money out of uneducated people’s pockets.

You shouldn’t breed Merle’s period, extinction of the real American Bully has been coming because of $$$ and no standards
I am fighting to keep the classic American Bully alive! My dogs not only look great, but can do work as well.
Agreed but what is a "real" American bully? Aren't they a mix to begin with?
You mean the American Pit Bull Terroir because bully’s are a Pit Bull and Bulldog mix that’s kind of a new trend people wanting 100lbs. + Pit Bulls like Hulk who might also have mastiff in the mix but who knows for sure.
Canucker eh! After a Standard is established from a reputable Registry your supposed to breed to that standard, not breed what’s popular and sell out the breed

Thinking about getting a Merle, so where did Merle come from? Did it just appear in a Bully one day? Or was it cross bred in? If so what dog did it come from? Was it alapaha blue blood? I'd like to know before buying one as I heard bad things about alapahas. I thought the merel genetics came from the Catahoula leopard dog you see. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
I have had my pitbull for over 4yrs he looks just like this dog except mine is grey black and white. He has a emerald colored eye and a brownish eye that changes color. I rescued him and his paper work says "Catahoula Leopard" mix. He just looks 100% pitbull. So you are absolutely correct!!
nedhardy.com/2020/05/28/merle-pitbulls/
Here is some info on this color
I feel so sorry for the females, they always have to be pregnant 😢
Well done on the breeding 💯❤️👍🏼
Forget the dogs. Cause’ for me It is that “gold” chained & spiked looking collars that impress me the most. Undeniably worn by the dogs to match the guy in this video’s cool looking ‘barbed wired’ tattoos on his flabby arms. 😂
As long as they are staying health, and continuously improving the breed then I say go for it!!
they aren't improving the "breed", these dogs are just for looks.
@@pwunkii many dogs are just for looks. For me personally as long as they not causing a detriment to the health of the breed I’m fine with it
These dogs aren’t healthy.
I own 2 GSD's (Which I made the mistake of buying from byb months back when I was ignorant and didnt know what ethical, responsible breeding was.
Poor pups.
Love the look , I got my first Bully 2 wks ago hopefully we'll have a he'll of a run
