When Andi joined they started criticizing him and over the years he has been the one who saved Helloween and even though he and Michael have a different voice tone Andi is part of the soul of Helloween. I know that Charlotte was part of the soul of Delain and it is hard for her to leave but Diana does it incredibly and it is not easy to get into a group where the previous singer has been in it for so many years. The smile at the end of the concert is the image that shows that she is happy with what she does, to be where she is and the fans that have always loved Delain should support her and not criticize her, this is my most sincere opinion.
completely agree with you, and it isn't as if Charlotte didn't do awesome stuff on her own in the meantime. It's hard to see people to go separate ways when what they did together was so special, but given the repeated drama we have seen that other band create basically every time one of their vocalists left/got fired, at least Charlotte and Delain both did it with grace and respect. And Diana isn't to blame for any of that anyways, so she shouldn't even be a talking point apart from her own performance (which I think is stunning).
@@SuperMario0972 You mean. the band turned back completely. On the last record ALL members from April Rain are there except Charlotte. Live ALL members are there except Charlotte and Rob van der Loo. Diana is the best thing that could happened to Delain at all... finding so close tiembre to Charlotte... Diana if you read this, please know, you're amazing, and doing very welll. Just try to add the dark tone, don't be this sweet all the time )
Diana is probably one of the best female vocalists i heard in years...she touches the SWEET SPOT, its absolutely incredible. I can't remember when i had goosebumps and tears in my eyes the last time from pure vocal perfection. I have it with her. She even does it live,, pure magic.
Diana's even more impressive live - I saw them last year in Berlin and her voice blended into the old songs so seamlessly that honestly I pretty much forgot about the fact that there was a vocalist change at all at some point during the show lol It was unexpected as I thought Diana's voice to be more on the 'cute' side (for the lack of a better word..) compared to Charlotte's, but the difference became hardly noticeable or significant once she started singing. She is not only a talented singer but also very skilful in stepping into songs that weren't made with her in mind and then carefully navigating her way around them. As someone mentioned below, I’m vaguely reminded of Kamelot from over a decade ago.. At first I found Tommy's voice to be so much sleeker and cleaner than what I was used to, without the ragged, sticky edge of Roy's voice that I personally came to think of as one of the signature traits of Kamelot, but the transition couldn't have been smoother that I'm still in awe when I think of it haha. Getting a somewhat similar vibe from this new era of Delain.
I personally think the new Album Dark Waters is the best Delain release ever, also thanks to Diana. Everything falls into place..the compositions, the more excessive synth work combined with the even more clean voice of Diana, and the INSANE choruses, hooklines etc. This Album is a piece of art and i am thankful to be able to listen to it while I am alive. Honestly, this album is so fucking good.
I love Delain and I always will. I won't deny that my favorite era of the band was with Charlotte, Timo, Joey, Otto and Merel but this new lineup doesn't deserve the hate it's getting. Diana has grown so much as a singer and the band has improved a lot overall. Ronald is now the frontman and personally I am fine with that! The only thing I would say is that they should change a bit the setlist as they have so many great songs that haven't been played in a long time. Glad to see Army of Dolls in the setlist though, even if without the guitar solo(wonder why they removed??)
Actually, there isn't much hare anymore I noticed. Of course you will always have "I liked the "Tarja" ;-) period", but that's okay. Delain is doing really well, again, which makes me very happy.
@@jaspergroen5376 Many hate comments have been removed, thank God. People can't express their opinion without offending others. Overall I agree with you, Delain is doing very well now. I hope I will enjoy the new album more than Dark Waters tho
Actually, I don't see any significant number of hateful comments, there have always been just a few. It was expected, there are always some people who believe in that stupid "singer is a band" stereotype. I would also argue that "Ronald is now the frontman": He was always talkative with the crowd, even in the early Delain years - it's part of his character, but that doesn't make him a "frontman". And as for the "Army of Dolls" guitar solo, I think he just forgot to play it this time. :) He had always played it before, so I doubt it was a deliberate decision to change the arrangement.
@@SokolRock If you check carefully they have (rightly) deleted many derogatory comments. In addition they had a similar experience with the live video at Wacken 2023, so much that Wacken TV first closed the comments and then deleted the video. A pity. It was those guys who were trying to get control of Delain (even though they were just hired guns, they were never legally members of the band). @@Iefooow haha . Apparently the two original band members that still in band wanted their new music to sound like how it was when they first formed , hence more male vocals .

So, what's wrong with the audience!? My neck hurts from headbanging even though I am only watching the show online! ;-) I love the band and am so happy that they have continued making new music and playing shows
Is it just me having a deja-vu... it seems the time traveller from Nightwish @ Wacken 2013 is back (first row), still alive & bringing Symphonic Metal into other time(s)? Cool. 🤘😆
For me Delain has grown out of the Charlotte era since Diana is doing a fantastic job, the last album has been the best since April rain (Apocalpyse and chill was horrible) and Charlotte is doing good as solo artist with other former Delain members. We get the best of both worlds!
"the last album has been the best since April rain" No wonder you liked it: Except for Diana, the rest of the line-up on "Dark Waters" is the same as on "April Rain" - they even "borrowed" their former bassist from Epica.
@@SuperMario0972 I think they complicated things and the songs also did not fit together. It felt forced which in the end resulted in a split. Charlottes new album btw sounds like a way better version of Apocalypse. Much more coherent songwriting.
I really hope Diana Leah lasts too long in the band 💙 she perfectly fits as vocals... at 2015 saw them with Charlotte, I'm still waiting to see them again, this time with Diana
I love that song too!!! May I add I‘ll Reach You’ as well.. I get the feeling that there are some Delain songs that are considered too mild / pop and don’t get played much at live shows. I mean they might be not ‚metal‘ enough, but the songs still slay
Delain instrumental part in the verge of perfection. The vocal lining is not an enthralling point in,but it should not be impossible to improve,if the band takes on it as the mainly priority to sort out.
For me, vocal wise, Delain went through exactly what happened to Kamelot. They were fortune enough to find similar tones, but technically better. Both are doing incredibly great jobs, and remain head to head as my favorite bands 🖤 Regarding Delain, the simple fact that 2 original members decided to come back after the former members went packing, speaks volumes.
Gotta disagree. Tommy Karevik is not a better singer than Roy Khan. Not even close. And same goes for Delain. I mean shes good but to me she is just slightly worse version of Charlotte.
You guys remind me of all Sepultura fans who are always saying that Max Cavalera is a god and Derrick Green is a piece of shit. I like Charlotte, but Diana is a good vocalist too. I love how she performs old songs.
They're not fans, they're ex-fans. They come to express their "grief" in the comments, but who cares? In their rejection of changes, they chose the path of sorrow and lost the band - it's bad for them.
What I really think is frustrating is that Westerholt somehow disbanded, and then he came back with another line up. Charlotte, Timo and others were supposed to be in the band, but the keyboard player decided to dissolve and unite again. The frustration is that Delain was a very nice lyric based band. A very huge part of these lyrics were written by Charlotte. That’s the point some people can’t move on yet
@@FingolfinLS First of all, he never disbanded Delain, they left on their own. After that, he initially decided to continue Delain as a project with guest musicians, something like Ayreon, but when Ronald and Sander returned, they eventually decided to continue as a full-fledged band. Secondly, you obviously don't really understand what happened then and why that line-up broke up. If you are interested, type "Delain Germany Martijn Interview" in the RUclips search bar - there he talks in detail about all the reasons. You will learn a lot of interesting things, but there will be no disrespect for the departed members.
@@SokolRock I still think it is disrespectful with Charlotte participation in the band. Martijn will obviously be polite, it’s a matter of business indeed. The fact is that his decisions are controversial. He could cotinue with Eye of Melian or something else, but he decided to restart Delain with old members. I can’t tell all that happened, I wasn’t there to know, but I can’t understand a good reason to let the vocal and compositor of the band leave and reunite months later. By the way, Delain’s last album in my opinion has very poor lyrics.
They performed it with a new line-up twice in 2022. And Diana did a very good job with this one of Delain's most vocally challenging songs. You can search for it on RUclips. I don't know why they decided not to perform it on the subsequent tour, but Charlotte has nothing to do with it.

"the last album has been the best since April rain"
No wonder you liked it: Except for Diana, the rest of the line-up on "Dark Waters" is the same as on "April Rain" - they even "borrowed" their former bassist from Epica.
Apokalypse was not horrible at all.... I really liked the way they went...
@@SuperMario0972 I think they complicated things and the songs also did not fit together. It felt forced which in the end resulted in a split. Charlottes new album btw sounds like a way better version of Apocalypse. Much more coherent songwriting.
@@SuperMario0972 i agree 👍🤘
RON love that guitar tone brother !original member
She sing very well 😮❤
I really hope Diana Leah lasts too long in the band 💙 she perfectly fits as vocals... at 2015 saw them with Charlotte, I'm still waiting to see them again, this time with Diana
My favourite Delain song is 'On the Other Side' and I've never seen them play it live.
the whole april rain album is a masterpiece 💎
@@antonioolivares497 It's absolute perfection. Not a dud track on it
I love that song too!!! May I add I‘ll Reach You’ as well.. I get the feeling that there are some Delain songs that are considered too mild / pop and don’t get played much at live shows. I mean they might be not ‚metal‘ enough, but the songs still slay
Pretty Good show, audio and video.
Delain instrumental part in the verge of perfection. The vocal lining is not an enthralling point in,but it should not be impossible to improve,if the band takes on it as the mainly priority to sort out.
Diana e superba!
DELAIN Forever ❤
i love her so much ❤❤❤
Using epic music to start a concert thats literally the way to do it
Diana sounds amazing - the male vocals however, no comment :D
Ciao Diana sei super !! Come hai fatto a cantare così bene ?? Grazie tua fan
I wish they'd have played April Rain (
Was a great show🤘🏻
A great event with great music on stage 🎧🎼🎼💯🔥💥
TREMENDA CALIDAD DELAIN
Amazing! 😎🩶
I missed April Rain and Masters of Destiny
Please delain xandria and ad infinitum triple headline in chicago my mind would literally blow
saw ad infinitum last year at summerbreeze, they were so good
@@zirngibel3596 i love them
Someone needs to make this happen
@@randylevy totally agree
I'm seeing all 3 of them soon (Xandria tomorrow!) but yeah would love for them to play at the same show!
WOW. This is way better than actual Within Temptation. WT became a Sharon solo band. Im still a fan, but...
Diana ♥
Since Charlotte left, the band heve incorporated more male vocals into songs.
They often had male singers in their songs before, especially Marko Hietala.
Suckerpunched after this amazing concert! ♨️
Que show incrível 🤘🏼😜
Espero ver no 🇧🇷 em breve.
The Gathering 🖤
Los extraño 😢
ótimo!!!
Diana ❤🔥👍👏👌
For me, vocal wise, Delain went through exactly what happened to Kamelot.
They were fortune enough to find similar tones, but technically better.
Both are doing incredibly great jobs, and remain head to head as my favorite bands 🖤
Regarding Delain, the simple fact that 2 original members decided to come back after the former members went packing, speaks volumes.
Sorry, Kamelot gone totally lost. Only start round around.
@@OPPLE-w3t I'm glad the world doesn't agree with you.
@@OPPLE-w3t Sorry. Kamelot is not gone at all. They are doing well actually. And same for Delain. I have to agree with you @FlixPat
Gotta disagree. Tommy Karevik is not a better singer than Roy Khan. Not even close. And same goes for Delain. I mean shes good but to me she is just slightly worse version of Charlotte.
Definitely not technically better. What makes you think so?
You guys remind me of all Sepultura fans who are always saying that Max Cavalera is a god and Derrick Green is a piece of shit. I like Charlotte, but Diana is a good vocalist too. I love how she performs old songs.
They're not fans, they're ex-fans. They come to express their "grief" in the comments, but who cares? In their rejection of changes, they chose the path of sorrow and lost the band - it's bad for them.
@@SokolRock Totally agree with both of you!
Great band
DIANA FANTASTICA
Super Bon groupe que j'écoute souvent.
Merci pour le partage.
❤❤❤❤
Does someone know what was told during the intro? I just understdood the final part "...and from the depths of these dark waters I will rise..."
Sad they don't play their Masters of Destiny masterpiece live👃. Maybe because it was Charlotte's only song?
They performed it with a new line-up twice in 2022. And Diana did a very good job with this one of Delain's most vocally challenging songs. You can search for it on RUclips. I don't know why they decided not to perform it on the subsequent tour, but Charlotte has nothing to do with it.
@@SokolRock Will definitely search for it. Thanks.
Great👏
43:24: YOU are a nice person ☺
okay you killed for this show. but when you go to whisky a go go its small club with only 500 people and small stage in Los angles county and the city Hollywood ca. i been in that place 2 times. one time was roadie for co worker band and same night got to meet record producer for capital records that night in 1997 or 1998
I absolutely LOVE the Whisky. Played there twice. Can't wait. 🖤
@@martijnwesterholt7351 i loved the place but traffic getting to place was nightmare when i lived in area. since would have to 4pm to get to place by 6pm do to traffic on highway
@@chrislognshot I can imagine. traffic in L.A. is "famous" so to say ;-). Its a shame its that bad.
They took the guitar solo out from Army of Dolls? Oh gods. Why?
I'm confused... is the guy really mimicking to pre-recorded guitars? His performance doens't sound live at all. Why? These are not complicated guitars parts at all
What makes you think that? The guitar sounds pretty raw and doesn't sound like album recordings.
I miss to Charlotte
I don't miss her at all. Its about the band, not about her.
this song calls NVIDIA ! hahhaa
Invidia means "Envy" in Latin.
Please tri headline with ad infinitum and xandria in chicago area please
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥😍😍😍😊
It's so kitsch that it's fun to listen & watch to.
Diana has thinner voice than Charlotte, while she tries to sound the same.
Diana's voice sounds much more pleasant than Charlotte live.
They sounded absolutely better in Romania.
Le falta punch..suckerpunch 😅
sharlotte wessels forever
Nope...bye bye Charlotte 👋 No nasal sound anymore.
