You do a great job with these mowers my friend! One thing to consider in your restorations is to strip and then re-bright zinc plate the parts that were originally zinc plated. I have a small zinc plating station that I use in my business. Re-bright zinc plating the steel parts in my restorations makes them look brand new. It's also very satisfying to make old bolts look brand new again. Keep up the good work.
Looking at the rotten out deck makes me realize just how blessed i was in having the facilities to make one out of stainless. I think it's ... oh 14 and change years old now and the paint (i know, blasphemy, paint on stainless) is still in mint condition. That jamble said, great resto, as usual. It's neat to see these units in their prime.
That's the first 😂 hearing you say those words "having ah bit of ah problem here" means this project is a 🤕headache after headache... 🤦🏾♂️Glad to see you upload tho 😎🤣
Very nice! Only criticism would be, my old dad was an engineer for the British army and Rolls Royce, he taught me, if your using nut and bolt put the nut on the bottom that way if the nut comes of for whatever reason you only loose the nut and everything stays where its supposed to be within reason, if you do it the other way round you loose the nut and bolt and the whole shebang falls to bits!
An 18 minute video was uploaded 6 minutes ago, but already 54 of us have liked it and 5 commented. This is one channel where you can have total confidence you’re going to enjoy the video. I love both the narrated and AMSR videos, they both make it a much better day!
Hi, I love your videos, as I am learning about small engine repair as a hobby. I was wondering if you ever considered making a series of videos about the components/mechanics and function of a small engine, its parts (ie on a riding mower, deck, belts, etc), and how you diagnose problems. I can't find anyone on RUclips that explains things as well as you do. That was not meant to butter you up! However, it's true. You present your material in a logical and clear way.
loving the work but a few suggestions to make your life easier. cover the paint stripper with a plastic sheet (or wrap the part loosly in plastic sheet) to slow its drying and letting it work longer. fill bolt holes with tape before painting so you wont foul the threads maybe look into some electrolysis for things like the new old stock bearing housings so you can repair the zinc plating otherwise exactly what we have come to expect from you, a good resto
If anyone ever needed a zero turn mower I nominate you as the zero turn mower poster child! Just watching you mill about, backing and filling on that little lawn fatigued me. I used to cut my lawn with a mower like yours. We're talking an acre of grass that took me three hours to cut, what with outbuildings and various trees and other obstacles. Now with a zero turn it takes ma about one hour and I am getting faster at it with practice. (My first summer with a zero turn ) An additional BIG benefit is that the zero turn, with comparison to my old mower, is just about effortless. Try one if you ever get a chance. You'll never go back to the old style.
The second patch of grass, the thick stuff, looks like it could have been cut a little cleaner with some higher RPMs. But I don't know what that engine can do. Considering the low RPM/high torque nature of diesel engines and the small size of the deck and blades, they probably should have made this deck with smaller spindle pullies.
This probably isn't relevant to this video, I can't remember because I have been binge watching all of these videos of yours 😂, but anyway, I notice that you seem to put your decals on dry, and as someone that has put on hundreds of decals, if you spray some windex or the equivalent of that on your surface first, you can apply your decal and use a squeegee to work out any air bubbles and the window cleaner evaporates after a couple of hours. I learned this method from people who apply decals and placards fir a living. Hope this is helpful. By the way, I have been watching your FS videos for years, I'm a big fan! Keep up the good work!
I wish I had this video in April when I recommissioned a Westwood 1012H. I overhauled the deck, no where near as nicely as your's though. Stripped it right back, regrettably didn't take photos of how it went together. Hammering the spindles out was a nightmare & I ended up damaging the threads. But got them tapped & they're fine now. Wire brushed rust & loose paint off the deck & welded on 2 patches & a large portion of skirt. Painted the deck with black hammerite. Put it back together with new bolts, bearings & sharpened the blades. I used old lino for the flap at the rear. Gave the mower a full service, new pulley bearings, a few new belts & a really good clean. Replaced the rakes in the PGC & was amazed at the difference! All I need now would be deck brake pads & a decent seat Know where I could get any?
I have seen a few good seats on Ebay, you can also buy universal seats new. You can get the brake pads from here: www.westwoodtractorspares.co.uk/cutting-decks/brake-blocks
Great work! Interesting that such a brute of a tractor has only two spindles. Mine is definitely not diesel but has 50" deck with 3 spindles. I guess maybe cheaper with fewer spinning parts, bearings, etc? ( I figured riding mowers had smaller blades so more of the blades could be at the maximum allowed tip speed, no idea if that's true)
Wouldn't that d1200 have a 42 inch deck rather than a 36? Got 3 Lombardini diesel d1200 there 1986/86/87 all with 42 inch contra deck never seen a d1200 ruggerini in person but I'm sure there 12.5hp Vs the 8/9hp from Lombardini would of thought they be bigger deck than 36?
Hey Daggerwin, where do you get your new-old stock Briggs and Stratton parts? I've got an old 10.5 HP motor out of a John Deere 111 that needs rebuilt, and I'm having a hard time finding parts.
Seemed a bit of a shame that the spindle housings went back on with an oxidized finish, when everything else was renewed. Maybe it’s time to develop an organic nickel plating capability...
@@MachineryRestorer well nearly all coated - they're pretty crusty with a lot of visible rust. Anyway it's your call. Good resto otherwise, a great looking machine.
Some of the parts he didn't really restore. The discs that held the pulleys should have been treated with rust converter, and painted black. The various pushrods, screws and springs should be plated in chrome and zink.
You never torqued the hold down bolt.all injector hold down bolts have a torque.it is do to the high pressure they operate under.if not done properly the injector can possibly blow out if the hold down but is not torqued properly.please go back and torque it.

Thank you for your video.
The two type of videos I get the most hyped for, fs22 content and machinery restorer!
Interesting project and a great video!
Me: No way he can restore this
Machinery Restorer: Hold my lawnmower
I actually rebuilt/restored the mower deck on my Kubota tractor just over a month ago.
God work. Glad you got the diesel mower running!
Fantastic video
This tractor project turned out great. Can't wait to see what you have in store next.
I've wanted to be patron ever since i came to this channel, Now i've a job it's time to get that bank account and donate!
Love your Farming sim videos and these restoration videos are some of the best quality I've seen, Daggerwin ftw
You sir are great. This is my favorite of your projects to date.
...lookin' good, nice work, keep safe..
Daggwin your the main reason I got into farm simulator and restoring tools and other things. Lol
Awesome videos! Keep up the good work on both channels!
Nice job 👍.
I had never watched a slo-movies of paint stripper working before - very interesting!
good job!

Looks like the mower deck is a rear discharge style great to see you got her back in running condition
Westwood's have a rear hopper and rotary sweeper. Awesome machines for thick wet grass, they will cut and collect anything, with nothing to block up.

Yes

Paint stripper called Power Strip

Loctite 609 bearing adhesive
Ospho is superior to evaporust-
