Wonderful!! For all of us who literally grew up on WESTERNS, all these Villans and Outlaws are dear old friends!! Thanks so much for sharing. The book is a MUST! Hugs to all!
Great! The western" family" put together, and for those who no longer are among us physically they are for sure in the minds and hearts of all fan's of westerns. Many thanks to you Rob and all production of the show
Thanks, Rob. What a gathering. Just a word for Horst Bucholtz, such an amazing actor and so good in the Magnificent Seven. And for Carl Malden, great job in One Eyed Jacks AND one of my favorites, Nevada Smith.
Rob is such a charming host. His knowledge of, and his enthusiasm for, Westerns and especially Western actors, directors and anyone involved in their creation, is a delight. He ensures that the interviews are so relaxed and yet so illuminating. Well done, Rob!
@Wes McGee I didn't cry because they were aging.. I cried because it was so marvelous to see all these people still around and still able to get on a stage, even poor Johnny Crawford, as in as bad a shape as he is, he's still a trooper and made it there, bless his heart!
Thank you SO much for honoring these GREAT actors. ALL over looked and forgotten ,,,,,,,,,except for us older people who remember these guys for the great acting they did for us! Thank you again! And , please keep honoring the great actors who never get a second look anymore,,, God Bless'em!!
I'm glad I'm old enough (76) to have lived in a time when westerns were big in theaters AND on television. I still love to watch the old westerns from the 40s and 50s, especially the B westerns
Wow, so many great actors, so many memories and so many stories yet to tell. What a great job getting so many in the same room and also on the same stage while directing this fantastic event.
Those photos are brilliant. They look like a story in their own right. Always a pleasure to watch Rob and his guests and his knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject shines. 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for this amazing tribute. I am 74 and my favorite pastime with my dad was watching Westerns. We never missed a movie as long as he and I were able to get together.
Glad you enjoyed it, Anne. My Dad and I did the same! I now hogtie my son to have him watch them with me! Only kidding, of course. I often took he and his friends to wonderful western double features here in Hollywood at the numerous revival houses so they could experience them in a theater on a large screen.
What a great time you have with all the great western actors! Its hard to see how weve all ages, including myself who watched all of these folks and was entertained by all when I wa ssd just a kid. I live going back and watching all the old shows, and seeing them all on your show!
LQ JONES has always been a favorite of mine and your show will help me remember his name. I love watching these and want to thank you for doing them. God bless you
Rob this episode is so special I think I have watched it four or five times. What a "Motley Crue"! It wouldn't be "The Old West" without them. Thanks again for sharing with us Rob.
Oh by the way will you be doing an interview with Fred Williamson and Leon Isaac Kennedy on blacks in westerns? Too bad you can't get Morgan Freeman talk about his experience in western films...or can you? Or sad you can't get Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte who started doing black themed westerns in the 70s.
Kinda brought a tear to my eye. My dad has been gone a good while now. Grew up watching westerns with him, especially "spaghetti" westerns. I was his only kid that loved westerns. It was mostly for the horses, but later for the handsome men! 😉😁🐴🐎
How do you tolerate that Get Green (something juice guy) commercial. The actor is super annoying and the commercial is horribly long? It just goes on, and on, and on.
I'm right there with you T. E. This is one of the few, and I mean VERY few channels I don't complain about the ads. Usually I give those videos a thumbs down, but, not Rob's.. all of his work is just outstanding, and like you stated, Rob deserves the revenue!
Poof Thanks, Poof, and all of you other western fans and regular viewers. The ads have been added by RUclips ever since we began making these episodes with longer running times over 10 minutes. We don’t have a clue what the commercials are. I think they are based on the unique algorithm & viewing patterns of the individual RUclips viewers. Thanks all of you for watching our weekly video magazine on western film history!
My God , just amazing seeing all these wonderful people. Getting old is a double edge sword - too many people leave us along the way . Once again your work is awesome for us old timers who grew up on these PEOPLE ! THANK YOU SIR..
I know I'm a little late to this party--but, oh what a party it must have been!! I must confess, the group pic brought tears to my eyes--Thanks, Rob, for bringing this bit of "yahoo, ride 'em cowboy" to us.
I recently bought the book and love, love, love it! Fantastic photos and stories. I cried some and laughed some. Learned so much! Wonderful memories, I will cherish this book always. Thanks, Rob.
Glad you like it, Tricia. We lost director/photographer Steve Carver to Covid in January. It was such a shock and we all feel so blessed to be included in the book and that Steve was able to get it published a receive so many accolades for WESTERN PORTRAITS, which is a treasure.
@@AWordonWesterns I am so sorry to hear that Steve left us. I know that the western community is so tight, losing him is painful. Thank goodness we have the work of all these great people to remember them with joy and love. Keep making the videos, Rob. We certainly need to hear the positive messages you send.
I wasn't aware Robert Forster and Michael Parks had passed away. I liked them both, and I wish their old shows "Banyon", "Nakia", and "Then Came Bronson" were available on DVD because I never got see but a few of them. Lots of great TV shows are forgotten jewels. Who remembers "Judd for the Defense" or "Slattery's People"?
@@AWordonWesterns Thank you Sir ;-) I'd find the job you do, near a perfect job. Any chance on getting the actor who played Newly on Gunsmoke on one? Would love to hear his take on things. I would love to hear more about Chuck Connors and Paul Fix.
Didn't know about this book before seeing this. Now I just ordered myself one. I know it will be a great book. Me and my father are always talking about the guys who played in so many westerns. Its always a hoot seeing guys in different westerns like Denver Pyle in Gunsmoke or The Rifleman or the other many he has done. Seeing someone like Leo Gordon in so many westerns knowing he was up to no good. I can not wait to check out this book.
I just really enjoy all of this Rob Word, it truly is a great reminder of the Western Ways, A Big Thanks to all of you for making this possible for me to watch...
What a fantastic gathering of great actors of TV & the big screen! I'm a little sad that Hunter von Leer didn't or couldn't make it. He's in the book too. My favorite character actor ever. Hope he's doing well.
Howdy Mr. Word! Thanks a million for your great interviews. I rarely get back to Lone Pine for the festival living in Jakarta - but I made it out to meet Johnny a few years ago … a hysterical man. Thanks for your tribute to him. Also watched ‘Out of the Past’ from your recommendation… shot in Bridgeport- what a treat.
thanks, Griff. I watched OUT OF THE PAST again just last week!! I love it. I think you'll enjoy this Sunday's AWOW episode called GROWING UP IN HOLLYWOOD with Patrick Wayne, Claude Jarman, Jr., Cheryl Rogers, Darby Hinton and Robert Carradine. It was an outside panel I hosted at the Lone Pine Film Festival in October. Since we hadn't been able to do new shows yet at the Autry, I brought a crew and shot several interviews. Tune in Sunday! Glad you got to meet Johnny there. Merry Christmas.

What an amazing collection of actors together at the same place and time.
Thanks for what you do, Rob. It sure brings back memories! I sincerely wish they still made westerns like these today.
So good to see all of these folks that I grew up watching again. Seeing Johnny Crawford did make me sad alittle bit he will always be mark to me.

How come no one applauded for Buddy Hackett and Louis Nye? :(
Some people probably try to remember who they were I know they are.. or maybe there are few who are under 50 and don't remember them at all.
Maybe because, while well known celebrities, they weren't often identified with the western genre?
That will be one amazing book!
