I think Shinedown is a band that isn't afraid to reveal their innermost thoughts and feelings, and their audience lives and respects that about them. When you go to a Shinedown show, you don't just listen, you FEEL their songs, and the other audience members show their love and support to the band AND the people around them. It's a very powerful and positive experience.

If, I may add. When this song came out, Brent Smith (vocalist) had an interview regarding this offering on XM/Sirius radio. He said, "This song was a gift"! He elaborated how once in a lifetime, a message comes to a person and in the studio, they formed the lyrics and sound within 20 minutes. This song, it hits hard, for sure. My wife survived cancer and other obstacles. This song will cause the air to become dusty, even for a strong man. Bravo, Shinedown.

A couple things about Shinedown and this song. It's funny that this is coming up in my feed now because I just sent this to my adopted daughter a couple days ago. My wife passed about 10 years ago and I was feeling thoroughly alone the other night. Anna was there for me. This girl and I have been through some shit over the years and she's always there to be my strength when I need it. She's saved my life countless times. Stood by me through a drinking relapse. Wouldn't be here without her or Shinedown.
Brent has written some of his greatest material since getting sober himself. So much of the post sobriety music relates to that as well. So they've played a big part in my sobriety. 5 years consecutive now coming up on 6. 20 years overall.
Shinedown's live shows are so tight they've been accused of using backing tracks. Nope. They're just that damn good.
Shinedown fans are family. You fight 1 bean you fight the whole burrito. We've always got each other's backs when the shit hits the fan and that's a beautiful thing these days.

How are you doing now Stacie? My ex wife had breast cancer. she is doing fine now. We were talking about getting a divorce when we found out she had cancer. At the doctors office as she cry cried in my arms, I told her I'm not gonna leave you to deal with this on your own, We will get threw this together and you will be ok, I promise. I never missed one chemo treatment, I bought her a new memory foam mattress so she would be comfortable. I emptied her drainage bulbs every day and logged the amounts for the doctors and cooked for her and took care of the kids needs... I wanted to do all I could as a husband. Even at our end, I could not let her walk that path alone. We did divorce years later but it was on good terms and she is still doing fine. I just hope I done all I could to disserve the title....Man! You stay well and a huge SALUTE!!! to you Stacie. Much love to you!!!

This isn't actually the album, or live, version of this song. It's a special reconfiguration they created. Jelly Roll was opening for Shinedown when the video clips were recorded. It's off their latest album, Planet Zero, recorded during the pandemic. While the lyrics are personal to the band, (as others have stated) it's about the people that get us through the hard times and a reminder that we're not alone. Planet Zero has some gorgeous, hopeful, songs: "A Symptom of Being Human", "Dead Don't Die" and "Hope" are all amazing and very much worth a listen. Great reaction - subscribing!

I just saw Shinedown 4/4 amazing concert. Jelly Roll they took him under their wing. He went on tour with them last fall. Brent & Zack showed up in Memphis & sung Simple 👨 with him. Brent Smith vocals, Zack guitar, Eric bassist, Berry drums. The piano comes down from the ceiling. Daylight comes from their newest album Planet 🌍 Zero released 7/1/22 concept album 💿 about the pandemic etc. 2 more videos released this year you should react to “Dead Don’t Die” still in the top 5 of rock charts. “A Symptom of Being Human” this one will make you cry. 😢Shinedown is my favorite band. 💯

I think this song was about the covid time we all went through and the struggles of being locked in with or away from people. It was a hard time for EVERYONE no matter what their experiences was through all of this.
Diagnosed with the fear of getting to close" That is a reference to the 6ft of separation that was forced on us. It ended up being much more than 6ft. I know people that couldn't be there when a family member died or attend the funeral because of it all.
I am grateful to have people close to me that helped me get back to the Daylight, as I did for them.
I believe this was for the time of covid, but it can sure fit a lot of situation that we all go through at times.
