If you water your paints down too much you will dilute the acrylic binder to the point that your paint will no longer adhere to the surface properly and will come off over time. The glazing medium has the acrylic binder in it so you don't have to worry about that happening. The binder is the "glue" that sticks the pigment to the surface. 😊
You can add Golden Super Matte Medium to anything to make it matte. Super Matte Medium contains an extremely high level of matting agent. Super Matte Medium is not used as you would a regular matte medium.
Hello and thank you for your amazing video! I just got it from the local art supply store, and I’ll be applying it as an isolation layer for my acrylic painting. After that I’ll be applying the gloss varnish from Windsor&Newton. Is it okay to use the varnish from another brand? Or should I get the gloss varnish from Liquitex? Because I afraid that the two brands won’t mix together well due to different formulas.

Can I use glazing liquid medium with pebeo vitrea 160 glass paints? Very curious as I would like to use a paint brush to paint a glass project and bake. Very curious
What’s the difference between mattemedium and ultra matte medium? Besides just using it to Matt something out, will acrylic paint stick to a matte medium that has already fully dried?.. I am looking for something I can use as an isolation coat that I can draw on top of and continue to paint over when I am doing large intricate painting.
Ultra Matte Medium: Dramatically reduces surface gloss to give a dead matte finish with no sheen Maintains paint opacity, color intensity and hue Economically extends opaque color to double amounts without affecting color or acrylic stability - perfect when underpainting or running out of color mid way through Slows drying time to help you create more subtle color blends Lowers the viscosity of heavier body paints Maintains paint adhesion, durability and archival quality Makes a weak tinting white when you add over 50% of the medium, increasing the value of your original color by one level Matte Medium: Reduces surface gloss, increases color depth and transparency Lowers viscosity of heavier body paints, giving increased flow Extends your color further without affecting acrylic stability Maintains paint adhesion, durability and archival quality
My Art Supply Obsession ...... alright great answers thanks, I would guess that acrylic paint will stick to dry matte better than gloss and would also be less slippery. I’d like to be able to paint and write over top of a matte medium just like you can with the spray workable fixatif. I’m just looking for materials I can multi purpose with. I don’t mind the can, I’m just trying to save money and be smart bcs I’m $500 invested in new supplies.

This was SO helpful, SO concise, and SO clear! THANK YOU! I really, really appreciate this video! You are an awesome teacher!
Thankyou for this video it's soo cool, the different techniques you can create with the glazing medium! 😁🎨
Very good instruction and range of materials used in demos. saves me a lot of time...
I'm so glad I could help. :)
Love the sharing product videos. After I watch, I’m inspired to try something new or revisit something I haven’t done in a while. Thanks!
You're Welcome 😊
Thank you so much for this. I have some mediums but I don't really use them. I'm going to give this a try. Have a great day!
I’m so sorry you hurt your jaw. Enjoyed the art haul!
Thank you, Debbie. I'll be better soon. ☺
This video gave me a lot of understanding . Thank you so much!!

This is a very helpful video. Just wondering what is the advantage of using this glazing medium as opposed to just using water? Kind regards

Great video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You're a great tutor.

Can you cover the whole image when dry with matte medium? I like my paintings flat

What is the Purpose behind glazing exactly why do you do it? Why does people want to do it?
I use it to create translucent shadows.
Nice video loved it
Thank you 😊
OMG IT'S YOU. I see your everywhere. 😂😂
Loved this video! Can I use acrylic paint to mix with the glazing medium? Does it give a good finish or it fades the painting?
You can use acrylic to mix with it. That is what I used. It's a gloss.
Is there a matte version of glazing medium?
You can add Golden Super Matte Medium to anything to make it matte. Super Matte Medium contains an extremely high level of matting agent. Super Matte Medium is not used as you would a regular matte medium.
Golden also makes a Satin Glazing Liquid
Loved the video. Thanks
Thanks! Really helpful.

It's ok to mix different brands. I do love Liquitex varnish though. 😊
My Art Supply Obsession thank you for your reply! It’s my first time using Liquitex products.
@@iriz6576 You'll love them. It's a great brand.
What if I add more water in color to make it light it will also be translucent than what is the different between this and glazing medium??
If you water your paint down too much you can dilute the binder and your pigment will not adhere to your surface properly. The glaze has binder in it and will prevent that from happening.

NO! Use Pebeo Vitrea 160 Glass Paint Thinner for that.
@@MyArtSupplyObsession thank you so much. 😊
Very interesting, is the Liquitex the same as the Golden glazing medium?
I don't own the Golden Glazing Medium, but it's probably similar.
thanks for sharing. Your voice sounds like Jane Curtin. Love listening to you. :)
Thank you :) I'm glad you enjoy it.
Could this be mixed with interior latex paint or water based metallic paints?
Sure. I think that would work fine.
Thankyou !!

Ultra Matte Medium:
Dramatically reduces surface gloss to give a dead matte finish with no sheen
Maintains paint opacity, color intensity and hue
Economically extends opaque color to double amounts without affecting color or acrylic stability - perfect when underpainting or running out of color mid way through
Slows drying time to help you create more subtle color blends
Lowers the viscosity of heavier body paints
Maintains paint adhesion, durability and archival quality
Makes a weak tinting white when you add over 50% of the medium, increasing the value of your original color by one level
