Phenomenal rendition of Jhinjhoti. Ustad Rais Khan sahab is a true master of the instrument...he's my favorite sitar player along with Ustad Vilayat Khan sahab
My parents named me in a Indian restaurant in NYC and I was in utero the first time I suppose I heard the beautiful music of the sitar. I later listened to one of the early Shankar albums on my Fisher Price turn table💽. I heard Ustad Imrat Khan when I was 25 for the first time and became enchanted.
Finally, the full version - Thank you!!! It will take another couple of generations to figure out the level of Khansaheb's taans. It's not what it seems to be on the surface. The taans are on the level of the great singers
He is not at all playing the sitar! He is making the sitar to sing Raaga Jhinjhoti. A Mesmerizing representation of Gayaki Ang on the sitar with very able support on the tabla by Zakir. A memorable performance; worth archiving.
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely performance. I find myself listening many times over. May I download this video for my own personal listening?
Music is not a war field rather it requires an amicable and submissive understanding between the two. Both the legends have their absolute excellence and expertise in their respective fields. Thanks
@@selinaparveen3127 it's your thought process that you thought that I compared it as a competition or a war. I am an avid follower of both the legends and I myself play Tabla. I just mentioned that it felt some lagging in the laykari and first time it felt like. It's completely ok for someone to excel or fall back somedays.
He was just asking for "ijaazat" which means permission from his audience and his accompanists. It's a tradition of courtesy in Hindustani classical music before starting the recital.

Excellent.
Great performance in the best style of bayako ang
Gayaki ang
The unique element about Khan Sahib's playing is his "Mejaaz" and "Raagdaari" ...can make an audience go spell bound ...
I can vouch for you on that.
It is not mejaaz, but mizaaj [just trying to help]
Master of pull. King of Satayajit style narrating of poverty.
Beautifully designed to Gayaki Ang
RIP ustad raees :-(

Yes he is, what gentleman he was. RIP
43:12
Was Ustadji saying a prayer at the very start of his performance? Does anybody know whether he did this before every recital?
Biswarup Mukherjee It does look like he made a dua before starting
Yes it looks like he made a dua

Yes
Sorry Gayaki ang
Absolutelty disgusting that the man at the end is smoking a cigarette. 58:13 Shameful. No respect for Indian music or Indian artists.
You are an idiot.
Too many gaps and pauses between tanas.
I agree, but it was needed to digest each one.
Show off kinda playing style thats why
@@burkabandar3393 yes but the playing is so sweet that it takes care of delays. A rare left hand.
